[…] America is at the mall […]
January 24th, 2008 at 5:09 amSorry, but what is mariburjeka?

March 25th, 2008 at 4:13 pmIf anyone in the Marines has the attitude “Marine Corps is fighting the war, America is at the mall”, then I want that person OUT of the US military. Most Americans support our troops with tax dollars, with donations (usually better than what the military provides), with their open show of respect and thanks, and with their prayers. Many Americans who are supposedly “at the mall” also have family members who serve in the military and worry about them. I don’t think it’s asking too much of our servicemen and women, no matter what branch of the military they are in, to respond by saying “we also thank you for your support, prayers, donations and respect.” That would be far better than having the “holier than thou”, guilting attitude by saying we are all at the mall while you are fighting a war. Not everyone is able to serve in the military but we all contribute to the effort in some way. And, if it were true that we were all at the mall while the Marines are fighting the war, you can thank our esteemed Commander in Chief for that. He has asked no sacrifice from the American people to support the war, like buying war bonds or donating supplies (this had been volunteered), because this would erode support for his war agenda. Instead, he cut taxes! So, show a little respect for the American people who support our troops financially, with donations, with prayers, and with respect. Otherwise, I want you OUT of the military. We don’t need you. We can find better people to serve than that.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:46 amSorry John, but you represent the minority of Americans. Most Americans don’t know and don’t care where they’re tax dollars are going and wouldn’t know what to do with the information if they did. The reality is that most Americans don’t give a shit about the war as long as they can maintain a certain standard of living and certain level of comfort. They point their fingers at the Bush administration and say “You did this!” The reality is America is responsible for America’s wars. You sound like you care, and as a two time veteran of Iraq I appreciate that. If you think paying taxes is enough “support” I encourage you to tour one of any number “polytrauma” wards that serve our veterans. I challange you to look beyond what ever fiscal responsibility you feel you have fulfilled and find further ways to be of service to our nations veterans. And, by the way, thank you for your support…..

I guess that makes the marine corps the disobedient child of America. You know, the one that sneaks off, wreaks havoc in town, and ruins your reputation all over town.
What? You say you told them to go over there and kill people? Oh, well then I guess the likeness fails, while your reputation is still ruined all over the world.
May 8th, 2008 at 5:39 amJohn, nice thoughts …BUT .. most people completely miss the black humor and unit pride expressed by military folks especially among themselves. Even so, if you “get it” there is a kernel of truth in the expression .. and it surely brings a smile to some Marines. It may sell a lot of T Shirts too - it’s America!
June 11th, 2008 at 5:41 amTruer words have never been spoken, if you disagree then i suggest enlisting and experiencing it all first hand then and only then would you be able to make a valid opinion about this statement. Service memebers are both Americans and Marines, Saliors, Airmen, coastgurad men and soldiers. Only they know the real truth.
June 29th, 2008 at 7:38 amYou want the person out of the military huh? Well, way to NOT have a “holier than though” attitude. The truth of the matter is, you’re not at war. The servicemembers deployed are, and those who aren’t deployed, are supporting operations. So, unless you fall into those two categories, you wouldn’t even begin to understand what we go through and hae the right to say “we are at war”. You’re on your couch reading the blog.
