For Tony Snow.
Tony’s on the frontlines of The Media front of the War on Terror. And sadly, the enemies he has to battle for us all, are the homegrown terrorists of the Mainstream Media. As Tony has battled the propagandists attacking the country from within the walls of the White House itself, not only has he been a tireless and dedicated warrior, but he is probably the most skilled one to assume that mantle in a long time. A true champion gladiator of the Media War. And a warrior who remains a good-humored and good-natured family man.
And thanks again Tony, for those interviews from Ramadi.
UPDATE: It’s 5:04 PM EST, and as I stare down at the NY Times building in Times Square, I’m having to listen to John Gibson describe the variety of liberal bloggers that have wished Tony death today. Clearly, we are not in a polite battle with our domestic ideological enemy. And don’t lay such behavior off on the fringe left. Look at the words and actions of the most elite of the mainstream left: Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Boxer, Newsweek, the N.Y. Times, NBC, and on and on ad nauseum. In America, things feel so tense and nasty at an unprecedented level, because they are. Before this global war, our differences clearly did not cut to our very survival. Well now they do. This is why we cannot wage a polite domestic war. We are in fact in a Civil War. The fucking shooting has just not started yet. Perhaps we won’t have to go there. Perhaps circumstances will not call for it. Perhaps.

I live in korea currently, and many of the liberal leading canadian types come here looking for work and feel the need to condemn the USA and promote canada at every turn and it has caused some animosities. they seem to be able to criticize bush with impugnity but once you attempt to criticize canada they are extremely defensive, much like american liberals.
Anyways , my take on canadians has been rather even. My best friend here is canadian, though he is more liberal than me, he is not wacky!

In a post titled “A Call for Prayers (for Tony Snow)” you came close to wishing for Tony’s death so you could look at Rachel Marsden’s legs (have to make her a glass podium.) The fact that you would name RM and Brit Hume in the same breath demonstrates your unintelligence. So does your idea of press sec as attack dog, as does the idea that Tony Snow wasn’t doing well for himself at Fox News. You said dumb, rude shit, and I pointed it out. And then you get mad at me. (Transference, I believe.)
But you really crossed a line when you suggested I wouldn’t make it through boot camp. 95% of recruits finish boot camp, and the rest are mostly injuries who take the option of leaving instead of waiting it out. My recruiter screened me thoroughly, but “Are you, or have you ever been, a brilliant yet disrespectful and full-of-himself smartass?” wasn’t one of the questions he asked.
And then you tell me I can’t hack it, which is odd, because the last time I checked, you didn’t know me. You have two Marine sons in Iraq! Fanfuckingtastic. I look forward to joining them. Of course the shit better than me, because I’m a fatbody who is PTing so hard and eating so healthy he hasn’t crapped right in 20 days, but it’s working and it’s worth it.

Most recruits are younger than I am. I’m 24. So don’t think I’m some fucking child who talks from his ass. I’m educated, I’ve tried working as a civilian, and I come from a long line of men with cocks as big as their brains. And I will most certainly bring honor to myself when I become a Marine.
I come here to learn shit from Pat and starkc and Gramps among others; I’ve made friends here, I’ve made people laugh, I’ve been insightful, and in return for those services, people try to pee in my cornflakes. Do you honestly think I’m dumb enough to speak the way I do here around my recruiters, fellow recruits, and officers?

I have a lot of friends with 3/7 who were there with you including Matt Conley who was an outstanding Marine and an even better person. Not a day goes by that I dont remember everything he gave that night.
As for Rumsfeld47 please stop embarrassing yourself. You are not a recruit yet, you are a Poolee and a long way from ever becoming a Marine. The shit you say on this site down grades the integrity of every brave man who ever volunteered to become a Marine, but most of all you look like a jack-ass in the eyes of any Marine. Some words of advice. Don’t believe anything your recruiter tells you. They lie to everyone about everything, but it is absolutely necessary. Where ever you got the number that 95% of recruits finish bc is wrong. Personally my platoon at MCRD SD started with about 65 and graduated 33 and thats with picking up about 10-12 drops from previous platoons. If you really want to get ready for the Marines starve yourself, run everywhere you go, sleep about 2 hours a night, but most of all shut your mouth.

Rummy, I was a month & a half shy of 24 when I joined the suck. I seemed to have a bit of a harder time phiscally then the 17 to 19 year olds did, but if you have the right attitude you’ll do OK, and I think you do.

Grew up in the military, (both parents; more extended family than I can mention were/are Army, one black sheep in the Navy and my mother’s father was a Marine) and didn’t need much adjusting after I enlisted. But the quote on being hassled? Pure Gold.

My oldest Marine (SSgt) got stuck with recruiter duty, and he was so good at it they extended him in it, and put him in charge of a district in the mid-west. He hated it, and tried to discourage every recruit, by being brutally honest. He busted other recruiters for lying. And he couldn’t beat the recruits away with a stick. He’s so damn glad to be going on a float, soon. Thank God it’s not til this winter. Hopefully the Middle East will be all blowed up by then, and my boys can stay home. Nice Christmas present.
