Leverage
A month or so ago, I was sitting in an office at Fox News’ Manhattan headquarters, telling a couple of producers about the mysterious capture of Iran’s #2 man in their Baghdad embassy, Mohammad Javad Sharaf-Zadeh. Zadeh actually operates under the name Jalal Sharafi. Sharafi’s real work as an official Iranian terrorist operative, had been found out from documents seized in a January raid on an Iranian facility in Irbil, Northern Iraq. On Sunday Feb. 4, this high-ranking Iranian offiical was seized in Baghdad by 30 uniformed Iraqi gunmen.
The Iraqi Government said they didn’t know who did it. They limply suggested that maybe it was some Sunni terrorist group. However, the freaked-out Iranian #1 man in Baghdad, Ambassador Hassan Hazemi Qomi reported to his superiors that Agent Sharafi had actually been taken prisoner by a high-speed Iraqi Special Forces Unit, operating under U.S. military command. Ahmedinejad and Khatemei were now freaked-out. Why all this use of the word freaked-out? Do I just like it? No, it fits perfectly here, because our capture of the terrorist Agent Sharafi was very significant: he knows most of the key information about the Iranian terrorist agents operating in Iraq, as well as most of the other extremely sensitive secrets about Iran’s war on America in Iraq. And the Iranians were highly agitated ( see, freaked out works well ) at the assumed certainty that he was now spilling, and would continue to spill, the beans. As a result of our Pelosi-designed interrogation techniques, of course.
And, lo and behold, in the wake of Mr. Sharafi’s capture, we have been able to round up many other Iranian terrorist agents in Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, as well as even convince some to straight up turn coat and defect. The Times of London story in the Post below lists just some of them.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was only able to report on other things on the Fox show, but it appears that this story’s time has certainly now come.
What appears to be happening is that Iran is now desperate for leverage in it’s variety of negotiations with America. And let’s note something significant here - if Iran had not declared war on America a few years ago, and were not killing American troops in Iraq every day - then they would not be negotiating with us to stop. All MSNBHuffKoss panicked denial of Iran’s deftly undeclared but extremely active war on America is just cynical, dangerous, and deadly political gamesmanship. Deadly to our troops. But hey, that’s all the left does these days - work for own defeat in order to win votes. Anyway, undigressing, Iran had been using the possibility of lightening up it’s war on us, as leverage to get us to allow them as much progress as possible on building their nuclear arsenal. Once we finally stood up to the plate, and began fighting them back and rounding up the heads of their War Machine in Iraq, the strength of their Iraq card began to diminish greatly. Perhaps too greatly to be of much use in the clandestine Iraq/nuclear negotiations they’ve been engaging in with us. And now, with yesterday’s U.N. sanctions, Iran felt it needed to do something bold, but not too bold, to regain some leverage. Including, obviously, the ever more simple leverage of using the kidnapped Brits as “swap outs” for their imprisoned terrorists.
And, it was important to remind everyone of their intentions to remain an aggressor if we do not give them what they want.
Good read Pat

March 25th, 2007 at 12:03 pmThis is so predictable. I’ve studied communism, and the way the left allows themselves to be played (like a fucking banjo made of wine and cheese) makes me want to PUKE!
