The Face Of Republican Congressional Leadership
Recognize those two guys above? Me either. In fact, they are empty faces. But you should take a look anyway, you should get to know them. Because they are the faces of Republican Congressional and Senate Leadership.
Remember those guys out there yesterday, front and center, cogently and persuasively laying out the case against the Democrats’ Iraq Treason Bill? Remember how Tom Daschle used to so deftly create public sympathy for the opposition, and more importantly, so deftly used to block passage of most of the key bills of the Republicans’ legislative agenda? Aren’t the Republicans so lucky to have Senate and Congressional leaders so good at doing the same? Wasn’t it great seeing the news reports of those Republicans working the halls of Congress so passionately and tirelessly this week, to defeat the big bad Nancy Pelosi? Oh, you didn’t see those reports? Me either.
But wasn’t it great seeing them at the microphones yesterday, Daschle-style, making the case to America about the Democrat-manufactured crisis that is about to crash down on our troops? Oh wait, you didn’t see them on tv doing that? Me either.
I saw the President. I saw the military with him. I saw America’s children with him. I saw a quick soundbite of Boehner on the floor. I didn’t see anything that could be called Republican Congressional Leadership, let alone effective Republican Congressional Leadership.
As a party that has no policies, the Dems had to run as the “We have nothing to offer but at least we’re not Bush” party. And as a result, America is getting what it voted for. The Democrats have been taking a giant piss on us all by doing the only things they can: turn congress into a Democratic Party Infomercial via kangaroo hearings, and pass Iraq Defeat legislation in order to deliver an electoral death knell to the oppostition. They have lost all credibility and legitimacy. All political parties do, when treason is their raison d’etre.
In case you’re not catching my drift here, the Democratic Congress is the easiest of targets for even the most moderately talented of rhetoriticians and political operatives.
So why is the President left to do the job of the Republican Congressional leadership?
Just who are the men behind those two masks anyway? America needs to know. America needs to see them start doing their jobs.
Amen, to that, Pat. What we must all do is encourage Bush to follow through on his promise of a veto, and demand this pathetic excuse for a Congress take the side of our troops for once. We must rally around the President to take the fight to Congress, while our men and women our taking the fight to the terrorists and extremists. They must give them the funds to continue the good fight, and eventually, victory. If they don’t, we all know who is responsible for our defeat.
March 24th, 2007 at 8:23 amIt’s true. They are such a waste of flesh.
March 24th, 2007 at 11:27 am:mrgreen:Could those two masks represent anonymously the left cajone and the right cajone that the Repub congress seems to have lost? What the he** is the matter with everyone? Are we going to surrender the US as well as Iraq? I am seething at my own party, what a bunch of asshats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe I wrote something to the effect of “don’t let them frame this vote their way” yesterday.
The Republicans in Congress don’t deserve a majority. Unfortunately, the Democrats deserve it much, much less.
There are so many different ways you can attack this bill, it’s hard to know when to start. But ultimately, the best way to point out the fault of the bill is to focus on it’s pervasive cowardice. (Pat, feel free to pass this along to blog friends of yours. Might catch on.)
It’s cowardly because the Democrats crafted the bill because they were scared of the people who elected them.
It’s cowardly because they know they can’t withdraw funding immediately because they’re scared of people who might elect them in the future.
It’s cowardly because it overrides military leaders in theatre and ignores the mission they are trying to accomplish.
It’s cowardly because they couldn’t even get their own party to vote for the bill without billions of dollars in pork bribes.
It’s cowardly because it was voted for by fools who don’t understand the purpose of the military in the first place.
Feel free to chime in, people. This bill has enough shit for everyone to make a sandwich.
This recruit is so inspired, he wants to coin a term:
cowardass: (noun) anyone who supported this bill
March 24th, 2007 at 8:49 pm“The most cowardly bill in United States history” That should be the official GOP/Conservative line on this.
Note that it’s not cowardly because they want to cut and run, but because they’re trying to have it both ways.
March 24th, 2007 at 9:45 pmThe military is not in charge of saving the people of New Orleans when their Mayor and Governor abandoned them in one of the most spectacular displays of incompetence in human history.
The military is not in charge of building levies when the federal government allocated millions to the state of Louisiana to build them up and the state spend the money on highway construction.
The military is not in charge of securing funds for fixing up hospitals marked for closure due to lack of funds.
The military is not in charge of offering a shoulder for Iraqi officials to cry on when they can’t understand why fucking with ROE would have an adverse affect on violence.
The military is not in charge of taking prudent action against Iran to prevent further loss of life.
The military is not in charge of making sure no active duty service members ever die.
We’re the gun; we can build levies, we can rescue people, we can ask for funding, we can offer a shoulder to politicians who make strange decisions, we can train and equip our forces to minimize loss of life… but we’re the gun.
Guns function best when you line up a target and pull the fucking trigger with intent to kill. It’s time Congress realizes that before we end up like Spain, voluntarily giving up our ability to defend ourselves against evil men with guns.
Idiots. I’ll note that Al (twenty-times-more-powerful than your ass) Gore was given serious consideration on Capitol Hill talking about global warming. He was talking about babies and fevers and science fiction books, etc.
Here’s a fucking idea: there’s a madman outside your babies window, trying desperately to break in to your house, kill you, and steal your baby so he can cut off it’s clitoris, rape it, raise it under sharia law, and eventually make it return to your house with a bomb strapped to her chest with the intention of blowing your wife to kingdom come. But you’re too busy downstairs watching An Inconvenient Truth to pay any attention.
And no, I’m not being to harsh, I do know what I’m talking about (if you don’t get the references, read some more) and I’ll STFU sometime before I go to bootcamp.
March 24th, 2007 at 10:36 pmRummy,
March 25th, 2007 at 11:17 amWhen do you leave for boot camp? If you come to MCRDSD for boot, let me know, and I’ll come to your graduation.

March 25th, 2007 at 6:13 pmEverything done by the GOP leadership is half-assed and without passion; except packing the money into their pockets.
When your own Party stabs you in the back repeatedly you cannot reward them with votes regardless the short term consequences.
We need a muscular, patriotic, conservative party. The GOP is not it. Yes, that includes GW, El Presidente, himself. Just ask Mookie how tough a CIC we’ve got. When the President quakes over offing some retarded, towelheaded thug he’s the wrong guy for the job.

March 26th, 2007 at 6:14 pmto the illiterate mullah cimoc,
George bush did not create Islam, nor did he create the terrorism that is and has been promoted since the time of muhammed. Muhammed was the first terrorrist and osama and company are only following in his footsteps.
You can talk about conspiracies till you are blue in the face, Hillary clinton does everytime she is caught lying. the worst conspiracy to date and the greatest threat to humanities existence is the ideology of Islam.
It is openly hostile in the quran and sunnah, but is adamantly defended and distorted by the likes of you and other idiotic mullahs. You use misdirection, conspiracy theories, and any evil thing that non-muslims have done throughout history to take the focus off the fact that muhammed was a murderer , rapist, and a thief(not to mention a pedophile, see his 3rd wife aisha)and that his followers, like yourself, believe that any normally considered evil, is goodness when it supports the spread of islamic influence.
Dont talk about love and good will when at the same time you claim to believe the crap in the quran as the inspired word of God. Islam is satans playhouse, and the dolls of Islam(ahmedenijad, saddam, osama and perhaps , yourself, are satans prophets)
go pretend somewhere else. people on this site have done their homework on islamic history. we know deceit has been your game and is sanctioned by muhammed your commander and thief. rememebr his dictum:
“Do not take the jews and christians for friends, for they are friends of one another. except by way of precaution that ye may guard yourself from them.” in other words pretend to be their friends to guard yourself against them. And these “are the people of the Book” those you allegedly respect. those not of the book deserve only death.
leave that disgusting group now, read ibn warraq , a former arab muslim and see the evil of islam before it is too late.
