Gas And Rumors Of Gas
Al Qaeda ( the guys President Pelosi says aren’t in Iraq ) have begun using chlorine gas attacks. Fortunately, this has pissed off the locals, most significantly the Sunni locals in Al Anbar. As a result, the Sunnis have essentially passed their limits of tolerance for the terrorist interlopers, and are working with us to dislodge and kill them. And, as the MSM did NOT tell you, Saudi Arabia has gotten directly involved in the war, as our ally. They negotiated a deal with the most powerful tribe in Al Anbar, the Jabur, to fight with us in full-fledged combat operations against Al Qaeda. And the Saudis paid the Jaburs a fat ‘motivating’ reward. And lastly, as I reported on Fox News two months ago, the re-Baathification of the Iraqi Army has not only started, but is moving ahead at a succesful clip. Again, the young tribal sheiks who had been working with us for the last chapters of the war were proving no match for their professional international Jihadi foes in Al Qaeda. The Baathists are being brought in to ratchet up the level of Iraqi leadership skills. Most are being paid signing bonuses and retroactive pay.
Now of course, we could leave Iraq tomorrow and scatter Al Qaeda and the rest of the International Jihad Machine back to Afghanistan, Chechnya, Pakistan, Iran and the rest of the four winds. Or we can continue to fight them while we have them concentrated in Iraq. We can pretend they are elsewhere, and that we should leave where they already are in order to find and fight them. Yes, friends, that is exactly the nonesense logic the Leftists give us. That horseshit gibberish is the funniest part about the Fascist Left’s line: We need to get out of Iraq and go find and kill those damn Jihadis, especially Al Qaeda, wherever the hell they actually are. Since they’re not Iraq. Even though we’re fighting them in Iraq. Pure Big Brother, “War is Peace” logic. Let me get this straight one more time: if we scatter the terrorists from the battlefield in Iraq, scatter them all around the world in fact, it’ll be easier to find them, even though today we have them concentrated in one place. Doh. Anybody remember that Steely Dan album, “Pretzel Logic”? Of course not, you’re not old fucks like me. But I’ll be back patrolling Ramadi soon, so don’t laugh too hard.
Anyway, back to gas. Fortunately, chlorine gas is rarely lethal, but painful and with some potential for long term physical damage. And it basically seeps right through a gas mask. Mustard Gas is a whole other potentially lethal story. I have full direct confirmation that military leadership has begun warning it’s troops about Al Qaeda plans to begin attacking with Mustard Gas. Enough intel had been gathered to merit the warnings.
So Pat, what precautions are you going to take regarding the gas attacks when you go back? I’m heading back to Iraq next week, and I’m wondering what I should bring in addition to my US government issue gas mask.
April 6th, 2007 at 10:11 pmPat,
How are the Baathists helping the tribes fight al-Qaeda?
Are we forming new Baathist led Army divisions or are we just having them lead the Emergency Response Units?
April 6th, 2007 at 10:54 pmJohn F:
You should bring as many Leftists as you can. Why waste the opportunity on canaries?
April 6th, 2007 at 11:11 pmECH:
The Baathists will primarily be used in traditional military leadership capacities. They will also execute certain specialized tasks and functions, and certain unique tasks, such as training/advising of Sunni tribal militia. To be clear, the Baathists primary initial purpose will be to aid in the pacification of Al Anbar.
April 6th, 2007 at 11:16 pmPat, there’s one issue to clear up here: our gas mask does indeed protect against chlorine gas. Of course has a limit of protection, just as for any other chemical agent, but it is more than sufficient for the threat al Qaeda presents with these VBIEDs.
April 7th, 2007 at 3:41 amBig Brother is on a roll!
“Al Qaeda not in Iraq” is like “no Global War On Terror (GWOT)” same bullshit thinking! Too many americans (small “a” is intentional)take billshit as a part of their daily requirement to remain ignorant.
Perhaps I see a leftists strategy…. (that’s a scary thought to think they would have a plan!):
If I connect the dots, then a leftist’s logic could be as follows:”"”" If we spread terrorists out when there is no GWOT then there is no war to defund - so defund it”"”" Wow that hurts to try to think that way!! What I mean is …they could argue that since the war in Iraq & Afganistan is not a war on terror i.e. terrorists are somewhere else. AND since we did not declare Global War on terror we can stay in Iraq and therefore we must leave. The soon-to-come talking points will be “we’re occupiers”
I am finding there far more liberals who think they are “close-to-center” (c-t-c) leftists. There are far more of these c-t-c Libs that are so far left they can’t even realize it.
Kipperoo is one example of this. How he thinks he is so rational yet makes self contradiction with every thought. The contradiction is not so concerning to me. What really concerns me is the attitude within people like him that totally and absolutely prevents their ability even to just see their own contradictions - never mind admit and adjust.
Pat, what you bring into the news about Saudis and Baathist is quite interesting. I don’t understand the support of Baath… its been demonized by its association with the Saddam regime that I thought they were part of the problem. I don’t have time to read up. Could you give a short explanation of how my belief about Baath could change.
Thanks
April 7th, 2007 at 5:21 amso old man, is Al Qaeda simply using splash attacks or do they have delivery vehicles for more dangerous chemicals. Do the bolsheviks understand that most explosions would burn up the chemicals without the state sponsored knowledge of delivery vehicles for chemical attacks.
April 7th, 2007 at 5:21 amHey, Brother!
You are the man, putting your money (not to mention your hide ) where your mouth is.
Keep up the excellent work bringing reality to a leftist world that wants to ignore it!
God bless you, and God bless and protect the best-trained, most-motivated, hardest-working fighting men and women in the world as they do the work that has to be done, and the risks to themselves be damned!
April 7th, 2007 at 7:09 amPat, how far can the Baathist be trusted? This was the group that Saadam used to take power in the 80s I suspect there could still be a bunch of them just like him running around Under Saadam they were a particularly brutal bunch of SOBs. I would be very wary of getting to cozy with too many of them.
April 7th, 2007 at 7:29 amGreat…mustard gas. That’s a pleasant thought. Maybe President Pelosi can talk the terrorists out of using chlroine and mustard gas on behalf of Israel. It’s funny that, by bringing a “proposal” to the table in Syria, Pelosi actually violated a federal law called the Logan Act. Newt Gingrich brought this to the MSM’s attention last week, but it was quickly swept under the rug. There’s a big differencce bewtween fact-finding missions and “proposing” bogus plans for peace negotiations between Syria and Israel. It’s too bad Israel knew nothing of such a proposal. She lied. And, in doing so broke the law. Look it up. The Logan Act of 1799 is pretty simple to understand. Pelosi needs to be investiagated and charged…no question.
April 7th, 2007 at 8:03 amWait, Al Qaeda is in Iraq as well as WMD (mustard gas)? This can’t be because Pelosi told us it wasn’t true.
April 7th, 2007 at 8:49 amMy wife got chlorine gassed in an industrial accident 20 years ago, and she still has occasional ill effects from it.
April 7th, 2007 at 9:35 amPat:
Good site. Glad I found it.
As a retired Marine, I know how you feel and how those you are associating with feel.
Combat has a way of reducing life’s fears and pleasures to their elementary roots. Water and MREs can sure taste good.
The people in the jaded West, particularly Europe, don’t realize the Gathering Storm that is about to hit them.
Ignorance can be blissful. In conjunction with the seven deadly sins (Hollywood), it will put us in a pure liberal hell.

April 7th, 2007 at 12:46 pmFunny you mention Saudi Arabia as our ally, I have read two other blog sites today that claim the U.S. is being threatened directly by the Saudis. Either way, I just don’t trust the Saudi government….
Thanks Pat for the info.
I was also wondering how are we re-Baathifing the Iraqi Army like you talked about?
April 7th, 2007 at 12:48 pmPat,
We need to get more Arab nations involved in just such a manner as this. What is your opinion of how the Iranians will respond to Saudi influence in Iraq?
Kipp
April 7th, 2007 at 12:59 pmBGG:
Well, no point in getting into a pissing contest, but unlike blood and nerve agents, chlorine gas is so thin it seeps right through the filter. Same with ammonia. And, after about 5 minutes, the chlorine will begin to actually disintegrate the filter.
April 7th, 2007 at 1:49 pmKipp:
Well, my intel sources tell me the Iranians initially responded by drawing up plans to kidnap the entire Saudi population. However, they dropped them once they realized it would be better just to test-nuke Riyadh before firing at Tel Aviv.
On a less serious note, the Iranians know the Saudis have already been involved and have a long-term interest in both protecting the Sunnis and thwarting Al Qaeda’s influence there. And they’re not afraid that the Sunnis are about to take over the place. So don’t expect them to go apeshit or display any significant reaction any time soon. The $750 million a year they’re spending waging war in the east is about enough of an acceptable commitement to them anyway. However, with their 16% unemployment rate they certainly have plenty of available meat puppets for suicide bombers. So, hey, maybe things will indeed pick up. Nice twofer: stamp out unemployment and infidels in one blow (up).
April 7th, 2007 at 2:34 pmBlastdad:
I think your points are all good. An upside to the Baathist’s downside is that they will weed out and “deal” with infiltrators and knuckleheads in a much more efficient and, uh, “effective” manner than us much more enlightened ( less effective? ) folks will. If you catch my drift.
And the downside is as you’ve noted: loyalty issues. And so, their initial power will have it’s limitations, and they will be monitored. Screaming bloody murder about the flaws and risks inherent in every plan is a primary Leftist tactic for counseling the inertia necessary to subvert the best interests of our society. Plus action scares those little pussies, anyway. Notice how Leftism always reflects the elevation of the feminine instinct over the masculine? As such, it’s really amusing how many young men in our phenemenologically emasculated society are so eager to be noted as liberals, It’s like, “I choose to be a bitch!”
Every store I go into, after scanning all the inevitable pastel and neon-bright clothes, I ask a sales clerk if they have a men’s department. When they point to what I just looked at, I always say “No, straight men’s”.
A lot of things in our society conspired to create this situation, but they’re too many to go into right now.
Plus, I gotta jam. The reasons I usually don’t post on these boards are rearing their heads again. Back to work for me…
April 7th, 2007 at 3:40 pmSPEAKING OF TOXIC GAS:
This was one of the worst parts of mini-boot camp: MRE farts! Holy shit, I thought I’d never go to sleep; every time I’d nod off, somebody would strike up a new tune. Fuck me.
Furthermore, cutting a fart while marching should be punishable with towels and bars of soap! What is wrong with people?
At least the Iraqi government has learned it needs to take a Baath once and a while.
I’ve got a big “mini-bootcamp highlights” post coming, BTW. Short story: best weekend EVAR, and I’m so fucking motivated that I’m going to stop typing and get on my face (now now now! MOVE!).
April 7th, 2007 at 5:06 pmOh, and there’s nothing like a Staff Sargeant striking up the ass-band right on top of your face when you’re trying to sleep, either.
April 7th, 2007 at 5:08 pmPat - “Every store I go into, after scanning all the inevitable pastel and neon-bright clothes, I ask a sales clerk if they have a men’s department. When they point to what I just looked at, I always say “No, straight men’s”.”
Holy SHIT that was funny! I almost shot some of my adult beverage out of my nose. I can appreciate that smart ass sense of humor as I am the same way. Oh the humor people are missing that don’t understand this. I am still laughing…
April 7th, 2007 at 6:07 pmHey Pat, didn’t quite no where to put this one but here is a question for you and for anyone else that would like to take a shot at it. With the recent suggestion by al -Sadr to his “militia” to start taking aim at the American forces, why haven’t we Blasted him and all of his supporters to hell? This guy has been a “fuckstick” ( thanks r47) for us eversince he came on the scene and I would imagine that his style of government is exactly the opposite of what a democracy should be. Any thoughts?

John M- think about it. Our military is at the mercy of the elected iraqi government, composed of many shia’s. Shias are the largest constituency in iraq. Al sadr is popular and an iraqi citizen even though he likes to vacation in Iran. (He is the perfect “democrat”(read sheep) for iran if you think about it.) if we kill him and rry to anihialte his militia we then hurt relations with the other shia clerics who are still on board including the elder cleric whos name escapes me. plus, like the insurgency and sunni terrorists, his militia doesnt where distinctive uniforms and they blend in with the civilians. taking them out is not as easy as we would like it.
April 9th, 2007 at 2:04 pmhey pat,
April 9th, 2007 at 8:08 pmfuck that chlorine shit. i’m glad to read in the papers that civilian deaths are down since the surge, US troop deaths are down, and we are taking back the fight.
i leave july 16th for boot camp, and i can not wait to support my countrys Marines.
Wawruck: HOO-RAH, MY POOLEE BROTHER!
Let’s hope there’s still some terrorists left for us to shoot at!
