Kicked Out Of Al Anbar, Al Qaeda Goes Berserk In Baghdad
I’ve been reporting about the re-Baathification of the Iraqi Army in Al Anbar, as well as our new and improved military alliances with the province’s key Sunni tribes. The crowning moment of this reorganization process was when we won the military partnership of the province’s most powerful clan, the Jaburs. We deftly put this union together with the diplomatic and financial intervention of the House of Saud. A succesful military campaign then unfolded, during which the increasingly desperate Al Qaeda resorted to desperate measures. These included the indiscriminate use of gas attacks and suicide bombs, both of which took a horrific toll on the local Sunni population. The Sunnis finally had it. They were tired of watching their innocents killed and their community beaten into the ground. This war has seen a long history of violence between Al Qaeda and their erstwhile tribal allies, but nothing at the level we’ve seen in the last weeks. Sitrep? We kicked ass, and outside of sectors of Ramadi, Al Qaeda has effectively been thrown out of their Al Anbar Province home.
This is why Baghdad has been blowing up for the last week. After fleeing Al Anbar and regrouping in Diyala, angry and with much to prove, the Al Qaeda orcs have descended on Baghdad and it’s southern Triangle of Death environs. This is precisely the phenemenon that occured after the fall of Fallujah, except that Ramadi had also become an Al Qaeda point of retreat, and ultimately replaced Fallujah as the home ranch. We’re basically watching a cornered animal do all it can to escape and reassert itself. This is why in just one week we’ve had the massive Karbala shrine bombing last night, two major Baghdad bridges have been blown up, the Parliament ( which is actually outside of the Green Zone ) cafeteria served up a tragic lunch, etc. ( Casualty update: The current official report is that only one person was killed in the cafeteria blast, not 8 as earlier reported ). And of course, the Karbala shrine was targeted in a classic attempt to make the Shiites mad at the local Sunnis, even though the foreign interlopers of Al Qaeda were the culprits. Expect more for hopefully a short time. The enemy is wounded, rootless and savage with desperation. And, they’ve had a little short-term luck. After the chlorine gas attacks, it was feared that Al Qaeda would strike oil pipelines in order to create an environmental disaster. As a result, thousands of troops were pulled from the Baghdad area to guard pipelines. It’s my understanding they are on their way back. They will be used to clampdown on the enemy now that they have revealed themselves.
And soon, the final clearing of Ramadi will commence as well.
Hi Pat, the above news( that you wont see on msm or even on bbc or aussie abc) is just the greatest. Except that the saudis are financing the sunnis to help with the us (invaders) in the short term. As you said, a cornered animal and very dangerous. Blowing up the bridges is a last desperate fling we hope. It would be great if the local iraqis were able to realise that not every muslim has their best interest at heart, and send in reports of foreign muslims(jihadis) to the Iraqi or US forces so that they didnt have to be used as fodder in the war on terror. This may come about, but the consesus of opinion there seems that despite the rebuilding of the infrastucture by the west and Japan the population still feels that they are being “occupied”. If they could get over this BS and get a lift onto real democracy, ie you are responsible for yourself and your neighbour but not to foreign interlopers, then the way forward should be easier. Then fact that Iran is arming and training the murderers(not “insurgents” or “freedom fighters”)seems to go above the heads of the left, and when 70% of the US deaths in Iraq are due to IED(usually made in Iran)then it is obvious that the popoulation are either not convinced that they are safe, or that they are so cringed by the murderers that they are powerless to help.
April 14th, 2007 at 3:17 amI know that that is not so, as when the military is around and the death squads are in hiding, the information gained is great and essential. Justa thought.TS
It’s getting hot over there, and mainstream media as usual is not giving the people the real story.
Thanks Pat for you diligence and sacrifice, I don’t think we can ever repay you for what you’re doing.
Stay strong bro, and if your ever in Denver and in need of anything, holler.
April 14th, 2007 at 5:15 amGET SOME! GET SOME BABY! HOO-RAH!
Why haven’t I seen a correction in the AP on that Parliament Light bombing? I sense a recessed filter.
April 14th, 2007 at 5:48 amPat,
thanks for it all, during a quick chat with my son last night,(he is in the IZ) and passed along the info regarding the production announcements and movement of your work into mainstream, from the tone in his voice and words, I think your work is appreciated more than you know.
Drive On,
Steve
April 14th, 2007 at 6:11 amThe AP doesn’t give a shit about the truth, they only care about selling stories.
I’m ready to sign back up!
April 14th, 2007 at 6:13 amIs democracy overrated?
All of us accept that killing the enemy stands between us and peace. Yet democracy has empowered ignorant masses led by the stalinist left to mitigate the resolute purpose of war. When killing needs to be done, then get it done– knock down, drag out and final.
The friction…
The actions of the left may be greater immorality than the terrorist atrocities. Suspending warriors between their executive task and tolerance is like inducing an opiate stupor in the very persons fighting to protect democratic freedom.
Keep up the fight. Your balance act of vigilance and battle is harder than mere warfare. You are an example to the brave. I will remember that my blood may yet be spilled in the struggle.
April 14th, 2007 at 7:44 amPat many thanks for the truth that you are putting out.I have`nt been to your site for a while, thanks for the vigilence.I wanted to ask if you are having more hits to your site or even if you are tracking that. Also good luck with the collaboration with Jerry Bruckhiemer.Do you think that the violence experienced Muslim youth gangs in Europe could be on its way over here if it isn`t here already?I haven`t seen any evidence of this yet unless its disgiused as another issue,(I.E.Illegal Immigration). My hope that citizens in this country will engage and see what is going on around them.
April 14th, 2007 at 8:04 amMy apologies on comment,I said Jerry Bruckhiemer instead of Tony Scott.Anyways Good Luck on the Collaboration…DEckster

interesting…
On the face democracy is not overrated, but ignorant masses can be countered by a larger percentage of the population participating in the democracy. I hate when I hear of people complaining about the what the government does or not do as though it is an autonomous power.
Excellent note regarding the left, I have a son in theater and have had to explain the twisted politics behind the democrats. That line of ‘we support the troop’ is such shit from them.
April 14th, 2007 at 9:54 amI’ve been watching the Anbar Awakening closely, glad to see your covering it Pat, keep it up.
April 14th, 2007 at 10:14 amPat are we only re-Baathifing the Iraqi Army in Anbar or are we doing it to the entire Army? Something I personally wouldn’t be opposed to.

Pat, just found your site. Looks great, can’t wait to read more and catch up. When you say one death in the cafeteria attack, I assume you mean one murder, and you are not counting the suicide splodydope. Apparently the Sunni politician was the only killed victim. Bad, but a pretty puny attack considering all the press it received. You’ve been bookmarked, looking forward to “seeing” you often. I’m off to search the site and see if you have weighed in on the new ROE.
April 14th, 2007 at 1:03 pmHey Steve-O If you know what the new ROE’s are, please post them here… This seems to be a big mystery.
April 14th, 2007 at 3:49 pmExcellent work and thanks for this report Mr. Dollard.
I’d love to interview you sometime for www.regimeofterror.com about anything about any links between Hussein’s regime and terrorists you may have learned about in your researches.

No can do on that. Against DOD policy for good reason. Frustrating, I know.
April 14th, 2007 at 3:59 pm“Do you think that the violence experienced Muslim youth gangs in Europe could be on its way over here if it isn`t here already?I haven`t seen any evidence of this yet unless its disgiused as another issue,(I.E.Illegal Immigration). My hope that citizens in this country will engage and see what is going on around them.”
John Deck,
I wonder about this too, and don’t doubt it. My belief is that it’s not out of the question. However, seeing as we are still an “armed” population … unlike Europe, they aren’t quite ready to go hand to hand with us “Cowboys” … I believe that type of violence from these bastards would follow multiple big attacks like 9-11, but in several synchronized areas of the country, after confusion and chaos have broken out (Sorry … “24″ fan here … although this season isn’t up to par).
The MSM around the world seems to be an active accomplice to these thugs. Read any story about the attacks and violence going on in France and the papers never use the words Islamist or Muslim gangs … only “A group of [youths] …” As if the perps were French kids drunk on wine!
Meanwhile, I have no doubt we have our own “code words” in this country, and you might be on the mark with “Illegal Immigration” as being one.
April 14th, 2007 at 4:32 pmSteve in NC, thanks for your comments.
Courage to you as a father of a son in country.
April 14th, 2007 at 5:34 pmWhen civil war (Ooops! I mean sectarian violence) broke out in Iraq, Dearborn Michigan was getting a wake-up call. Dearborn has the largest population of Arab/Muslims in the US. There was a surge in Shiite/Sunni crime. Mainly vandalizing homes and businesses. But hey…it has to start somewhere!
For the last 35 years (or as long as I can remember) Dearborn has always been the home of Middle East migration. And until now they have lived together as neighbors, friends and family. By now most have been born, raised and educated in this country. I can only assume the violence and need for revenge is in their DNA.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:48 pmYou’re doing a great job over there and we’re proud of you.
Why don’t you apply for Michael Ware’s job. CNN’s reporter/activist who mocked claims of success looks have been fired or shelved. Haven’t seen him in months. Did see him once and he said “There’s been significant, dramatic change in Iraq”.
Need to have someone with actual military experience, who comes from the military reporting the story.
