Once his ideology was laid out, Mabuse or even his commanders no longer needed to directly communicate with his followers. A metaphor for this is a ghostly image of Mabuse haunting his minions, driving them on. In fact, even when cornered, the character frustrates the authorities with his ability to relay instructions to his followers, which in the film literally become psychic dispatches.

TCM (Turner Classic Movies), actually played this movie late last night (Well, very early this a.m.). It was on 2:00a.m.-4:15a.m. … Try as I might I was out cold by 2:30. I would’ve recorded it, had my damn VCR been working (no TiVo here, unfortunately).
