The Tribune also said Cho had been behaving strangely lately, setting a dorm

Sources told the Tribune that the words “ISMAIL AX” were also found written
in red ink on the inside of one of Cho’s arms.
The reference may be to the Biblical sacrifice of Abraham, in which God
commands the patriarch to sacrifice his own son. Abraham begins to comply,
but God intervenes at the last moment to save the boy.
In the Jewish and Christian traditions, the son is Isaac, father of the
Jewish people; in Islam, it is his older half-brother, Ismail (Ishmael in
Hebrew).
Abraham uses a knife in most versions of the story, but some accounts have
him wielding an ax.
A more obscure reference may be to a passage in the Koran referring to
Abraham’s destruction of pagan idols; in some accounts, he uses an ax to do
so.

Psycologically speaking, however, jealous whack-jobs aren’t this premeditated. This guy was dual-wielding and obviously knew how lock students into a building and reload on the fly. Eye-witness accounts say he was cool as a cucumber during the shooting–almost entirely unemotional. The jealous whack-job wouldn’t leave a note before killing his ex and the RA, and then go on the shooting spree two-hours later. He’d leave a note, kill his ex, and kill himself; if he went on a shooting-spree, he’d probably be pretty emotional about it, given the sexual component of his violent mind.
Such cucumber-like coolness is rare, agreed? So what allowed him to keep his composure? That’s an open question, but if this guy was indeed a muslim, the police seems to trying to cover it up, and the media will be all too willing to play along.
Drudge will give us the pudding us within 48 hours.

Drawing a conclusion like that is a bit premature and almost paranoid. Sorry, but opinions by an individual is not fact, it’s some dude’s opinion, regardless if the guy works for Fox News or any other company. Those are also references to the Old Testament, which applies to Jews and Christians alike. Also, being that the gunman was originally from South Korea, there is a much higher likelihood he is Baptist. Until someone shows something concrete, this doesn’t appear to be about religion, Islam, or anything other than a disturbed kid who cracked.

Leads to a few individuals who choose to be different…
Leads to those who feel justified in their beleif that their different…
Leads to isolation…
Leads to anger from not being part of (Fill in whatever)…
Leads to psyciatry…
Leads to asking why are you different…
Leads to blame, and outward focused anger…
Add drugs and the anger is supressed and/or enhanced.
I could add more, but point made is… asking why in psyciatry always seems to lead to looking out rather than looking in.
BOTTOM LINE: root causes are not addressed, the symptoms are treated, and time bomb is brewing.

Ismail is the half brother of Isaac. The story in the bible of the abrahamic sacrifice of his son is with isaac.
Also Ishmael is the hebrew transliteration while Ismail is the arabic transliteration.
Plus the account in the bible uses a knife, whereas the koranic account uses an ax.

Another article suggested that Cho’s letter wrote about how much he hated his religion, which might suggest that he did grow up as a christian or maybe a buddhist. (koreas main religions) What makes you think he is baptist in particular is beyond me since the catholic, presbyterian and non-denominational churches are most prominent.
My theory is that he was disgruntled with his own religion, coupled with the the pro-liberal(anti-christian)atmosphere on most campuses and the current goings on in Iraq and the defense of muslims as an oppressed minority on campus(one of his neighbors incidentally was a muslim), he dedided like alot of liberals and muslims that a christian nation with “rich racist white kids” was the problem of the world and the fact that “rich white girls” wont pay him any attention because he is a minority all factored in his desire to prove to the world that he wasnt taking it anymore.
I wouldnt doubt that jihadi muslims may have noted his instability and encouraged him in this type of crime.
By the way, islam does exist in South korea, though a small minority , it has managed to recruit some south koreans. One such person was an english student of mine, he was fluent in arabic and had studied in saudi arabia. while back in korea he had received an alqaeda recruiting CD from his korean friend who was still in saudi. The video showed mujahideen killing american soldiers in afghanistan, iraq, bosnia and chechnya. It consisted of all the terrorists favorite shit, ieds, drive-bys, etc. MY student was worried about his friend, and was afraid to be seen , himself, near the seoul central masjid(mosque). He showed me the CD , gave me a copy and I sent it to the CIA. American and korean authorities summarily summoned him in for questioning. so i dont doubt when any person, student or otherwise spouts of anti american sentiments that the jihadis nearby just might want to feed that persons anger, and help him channel it in this way.

This has nothing to do with religion, as there is NO religion that calls for unwarranted violence against others, especially women and children. I am not talking about those weird sects from the Caribbean or the jungles of South America. I am talking about religions that are world-wide. Christianity in it’s many forms, Buddhism, Confucism, Islam, what have you. They all trach respect for life, and in the most part only support violence and murder when protecting yourself or your family. These people are not doing that, all they want to do is keep the largest part of the people in the Middle East living at 7th century standards, while they take the money and live like potentates.

In the hadith, Baukari, most authentic hadith Muhammed allows followeres to kill a jewish poet (ashraf)for insulting muhammed, in tabar a woman poet it killed while breast feeding , at the behest and delight of muhammed.
Muslim respect for life only includes real muslims, Baukari also teaches that apostates are to be killed.
generalizing about all religions is what the liberals like to do, except when it comes to christianity. Islamic spirituality exists and is personal , but the ideology of islam is part and parcel of the religion an is unquestionably domineering and totalitarian in nature.
