April 19th, 2007 at 3:17 pmWas Santa on a Mark 19?
April 19th, 2007 at 3:45 pmHe could lay some shit down on the pagans on Christmas eve!
Were those ACOG scopes on our rifles?
April 19th, 2007 at 3:55 pmThat vid was cool…
BUT I am pissed!!!!!
Murtha stands in the house and claims “its not us fighting the war here in congress - its the troops” while arguing against republicans.
BUT then he signs a bill that seeks to micro manage the war from where he stands. What a useless dickless shithead!
I listend to many things outlined, and heard that the bill (on pg 72 requires) a 15 day waiting period before advancing troops beyond designated zones - to wait until they get approval form the house armes forces comittee. MURTHA WANTS THAT - THEN I WANT HIM ON THE FRONT LINE (alone)
This shit so obscene.
April 19th, 2007 at 4:01 pmAffirmative on the ACOGS.
April 19th, 2007 at 4:04 pmSee even Santa knows when it’s time to put down the cookies and milk and put a little fire on those who have been naughty instead of nice.
April 19th, 2007 at 4:05 pmI am always amazed by these videos. Who is filming while everyone’s ass is on the line???
April 19th, 2007 at 4:07 pmFuckin sick!
April 19th, 2007 at 4:10 pmIn the best way.
April 19th, 2007 at 4:10 pmAwesome fucking song! I love the part where they pick off that piece of shit on his knee in the middle of the street just before he fires. I would love to see footage from the gun site of the person doing that and the expression on the piece of shit’s face after the first shot and before the last.
The MSM will never show this video, yet they will show our troops being killed from footage supplied by the enemy. This footage is just too horrific for our sensitive stomachs. FUCK this makes me want to do target practice.
April 19th, 2007 at 4:18 pmJohn in PA - And don’t you just love the pork stuck into the war spending bill? Ask the guys in the videos if they were worried about funding for spinach farmers or dairy producers or whatever the fuck else that has nothing to do with Iraq or WINNING the war. Sad state of affairs from our elected “leaders”. I have been to Ramadi. Don’t recall hearing from anyone on Capitol Hill with a better plan while I was there. Or any plan at all for that matter, much less one that includes winning.
April 19th, 2007 at 4:46 pmRoger that on the spinich and pork. Freaking Socialist, limp wrist do nothings. Fuck our troops, I will sell my soul to the devil just keep me in office. I wanna puke. But these ass holes keep getting re-elected to office. Gotta get rid of ‘em.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:01 pmWould like to know which pieces of shit sold their vote for some fucking handout.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:02 pmAll of ‘em?
April 19th, 2007 at 5:02 pmWatching war tapes on military channel
April 19th, 2007 at 5:03 pm0311 -
I wonder if term limitations would matter.
If not what about a terminations limit?
April 19th, 2007 at 5:07 pmWhat’s nauseating about the whole thing is these cats are using our troops and the war as political capital to rule the hill. All the sugar coating in the world and the “I support the troops” can’t hide the obvious.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:35 pmAh, Disturbed. It’s too bad their recent stuff sucks ass. (Especially that cover of “Land of Confusion” and its retarded music video.)
Awesome video. You wouldn’t believe how ridiculously easy the guitar line is to “Down with the Sickness”.
Anyone catch what that is running between the heap of car junk and the building? Is that a cat? (Poor kitty.)
@Steve in NC: The War Tapes any good? I’m DVR’ing it as I hate commercials.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:45 pmIs anyone else having trouble getting to their favorite conservative sites like anncoulter.com, hotair.com and michellemalkin.com?
Hmmm…wonder if the libtards are trying to pull off DoS attacks. Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve attempted to silence the opposition.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:49 pmYea, Land of Confusion is just a rehash about how horrible Reagan was, trying to be applied to today.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:49 pmAll of those sites worked for me. Surely the liberals wouldn’t try to limit free speech.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:51 pmi hear there are rats as big as cats so could be, esp the way it runs
OK, but they are editing fuck and shit words out, and then they let a diatribe go on about KBR/Halliburton, which showed off his ignorance, these guys are from new england.
o fuck they just inserted cuntine armapour comments
April 19th, 2007 at 5:55 pmGreg - yes they do, it’s called the fairness doctrine
April 19th, 2007 at 5:57 pmYeah, I heard that they whine about Halliburton a bit. Something about how they have to escort them and they make far more money than they do.
(As I recall, a few Halliburton contractors/civilians were killed during a supply run. Way to go to denigrate their contributions and sacrifices.)
I’m from New England too. (Massachusetts in particular.) Not all of us are bad. We conservatives here are like the Catholics in England—a small but well-organized bunch. It’s like we have to give hand signals to each other or something.
April 19th, 2007 at 6:08 pmTo spend the money and equipment on training a soldier to be effective in combat and then have him drive a truck makes sense doesn’t it?
April 19th, 2007 at 6:13 pmActually, no, it doesn’t. Still, I don’t quite understand what the beef is. If they’re there to support and protect, how else are they to supposed to go about it?
If I recall, both civs and military were driving the trucks in the convoys (as well as having protection from the other military vehicles).
As I mentioned, at least one of the convoys was attacked too.
April 19th, 2007 at 6:24 pmI Like the vid Pat. If ya get bored sometime go to youtube and search Raiders of the Thundering Third. Keep up the good work.
April 19th, 2007 at 7:28 pmHO HO HO! Motherfucker! Who’s on the naughty list now?
By the way if your on Youtube search ‘Lazy Ramadi’
April 19th, 2007 at 7:55 pmHilarious video by some guys in the 101st. Theyre user thing is ‘RamadiTV’. They got a few good videos.
Its videos like this that make me buy the tab of any Marine i meet in a bar
April 19th, 2007 at 8:12 pmWord up, my fellow Dollardians.
Regarding my date tonight, I have but four words:
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, TROOP WELFARE
It’s been a helluva day; it turns out there are no BX Data Systems jobs available Marine Corps wide. There are no other good jobs available for a red-green colorblind piece of shit like myself. It’s my duty to inform you all that THERE ARE NO INFANTRY JOBS AVAILABLE IN THE USMC. That can only mean that it is the most popular job in the USMC.
My recruiter tells me my best bet is to go in open-contract; I’ll be told what my job is during combat training.
I get to be a Marine no matter what; if I don’t like my job, I can switch after doing it for one year.
I’m bummed out because I don’t like not knowing what the hell I’m going to be doing. I’m worried that I’ll get a job that doesn’t require my brains or my balls. I don’t want to unload shit, I don’t want to pack parachutes, and I do not want to sit at a fucking desk, picking my butt, wondering what the real Marines are doing.
I need ideas, encouragement, and advice. At the moment, I think open-contract is my best bet; my 99 on the ASVAB should count for something.
Fuck it. I’ve got faith in God and faith in the Corps, and I’d like to have more than that to hang on to. It’d help to have something to look forward to.
Discouragement will not be appreciated on this post, guys. Lie if you have to, I’m not feeling great about this job situation.
April 19th, 2007 at 10:13 pmHow soon before you’re eligible for OCS? You can get into intelligence that way.
I’m not sure how the Marines work; I remember when I left undergrad an Army recruiter discussed testing for OCS since I have a degree.
April 19th, 2007 at 10:56 pmthink i saw my boy in that one. now there back for more!
April 20th, 2007 at 4:30 amgreat site pat. keep up the great work
rummmy47
first extract your head out your ass
you are willing to join the fight, be proud and straighten your back
per contract, no personnel exp to advise, but I think once you are trained on a MOS they are going to want a return on the investment
April 20th, 2007 at 4:50 amNYCLU update
As far as I can tell the NYCLU’s current effort is to verify if HS students are being harrassed by recruiters.
Also, NYCLU is actively encouraging students to “opt-out”. As best I can tell this means that the students info is blocked from recruiters if they opt out.
I smell another lawsuit coming as they will likely play the “picking on minorities” card.

Suck it up. You are only worth the effort you make. Never give up. Never break. Never reduce your drive to be the best and fastest - no matter what shit ass job you do.
Its not what you are or who you are.
April 20th, 2007 at 5:01 amIt IS what you’ve done and CONTINUE to do.
That’s good advice for Rummy John in Pa.
Rummy, your a pretty fart smeller dude, hang tough and whatever you do, stay convinced of the cause!!
April 20th, 2007 at 5:10 amA] “a 15 day waiting period before advancing troops beyond designated zones - to wait until they get approval form the house armes forces comittee”
i’ve seen these types of roe, it only means dead marines when shooting starts up, and safe haven for the bad guys and those extreme followers of the religion of peace.

April 20th, 2007 at 5:24 amI am not sure if I should be proud or disturbed by this video.. I know our Marines are brave people, but is it my imagination, or do they seem to get a little too much pleasure out of shooting people? Please feel free to respond to me nicely, with a minimum of insults.
April 20th, 2007 at 5:27 amRumsfeld-
I was an infantry Marine (0311) from ‘97-’01.
That is downright shocking that there are no openings for infantry. I spose it’s a good sign of all the willing young men in our country who are chompin at the bit to fight terrorism.
Before you go open contract, just make sure there isn’t any available MOS out there that you would hate….cuz you’ll probably end up getting that one.
April 20th, 2007 at 5:48 ammindy,
marines like shooting at people. thats why they joined. when someone is trained to do something, they expect to use their training. plus, they watch their squadmates get shot at on a daily basis, who wouldn’t enjoy throwing it back at the enemey?
rummy,
April 20th, 2007 at 5:49 amcheck out arty. you deff want combat arms, but dont get discouraged if you get a diff MOS. there are a lot of cool jobs in CSSE and aviation. just steer clear of the admin billets. no offense to admin, but being a desk jockey sucks.
Mindy, the people they are shooting would have gladly switched places w/any of the 9/11 hijackers.
April 20th, 2007 at 5:50 amClimate change and security threat…
Re: link on home page …
I am a staunch opponent to the Goricle FUD casting crap, but have to admit I have wondered what will happen if the middle east became uninhabitable - for what ever reason.
Skimmed the link quickly and saw a book title that I think defeats the democrat party foundation …. “Hope Is Not a Method”
I do believe in planig for the future, so I will look at the site futrther when time permits.

April 20th, 2007 at 6:15 amhey rumsfeld47,
I spent alot of time as a recruiters aide and know the routine pretty well. You should email me at and I can help you out some, or find out your answers for you anyway. But I need to know more about your situation.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:17 amRumsfeld,
I had to find out for myself that the Infantry field is indeed closed until October. I’m sorry for you, but to me, that is awesome. Since 9/11, I’ve been struggling on whether to go back in, but this affirms that the torch has been handed successfully to a new generation of young men to claim the title and serve our country - to take the fight to the enemy.
Keep your chin up Rumsfeld. President Bush recently authorized the Marine Corps to grow. This could be good news for you.
Semper Fi
April 20th, 2007 at 6:54 amRummy,
DO NOT GO OPEN CONTRACT.
They will make you a shoe clerk or dick polisher. I don’t know much about jobs in the corps (way back when I was investigating the corps MAGTF and Recon were all I was interested in) but see if you can get some kind of military police if they have them. Arty and aviation are good to, but if you go aviation without color vision you’ll end up turning wrenches.
This will earn me bitching, but since you havn’t signed anything with the Marines, the Army and Air Force are open to you. At least talk to them.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:04 amrummy- id also advise against an open contract. i wouldnt want to get stuck admin or supply. no thanks
April 20th, 2007 at 7:43 amRumsfeld,
April 20th, 2007 at 8:15 amPlease listen to the other guys–I think open contract is a bad idea. Go back to your recruiter and back over the list and see what’s open. Granted, all jobs are important but you have too much heart to get stuck in a job that you’ll resent. By association I lived and breathed recruiting for 3 years–there is always something that can be done or arranged. The less fuss you put up–is great for them–they’ll just stick you in the needs of the corp category. Especially if you are really gung-ho– they’ll figure that you’ll take whatever. They can use the cool jobs to tempt those that need a little convincing to join. Use your ASVAB as leverage–a 99 is nothing to sneeze at. Good luck.
Rummy,
If you want to go into the Infantry now see if they have any Security Forces. You will have to do one-two years at a MCSF Company (either PRP or FAST) but you go to the FMF once your time is up. The last thing you want to do is go open contract. Of the two guys I know that did that one got stuck as a Fabric Repair Specialist (stitch bitch) and the other was a supply fuck for SOI at Pendleton. Both hated their jobs and their time in the Corps. Also, changing your MOS after a year is bullshit, it is possible after two years but you are more than likely going to be told to fuck off. It’s much easier to change after your first enlistment.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:21 amRummy47
I agree with the previous advice. If you go on an open contract and all you want to do is fight, then chances are you will not be happy with you job. Especially if you have high scores you will probably get a job that requires high scores because there are fewer of your type (and i am not saying that only dumb ones go infantry, so dont jump on me fuckers, and if i remember correctly you need decent scores for infantry, at least in the army anyway, dont know about marines). Plus, there is a ton of support needed for the shooters and looters, so again the probability is you will get a support job. so looking at it from simple numbers, which is probably how they are looking at it, you will more that likely hate life if you go in blind.
play hardball and tell them to call you when they have your prefered job. i defineatly would not settle for anything less.
as for changing after a year you can fuckin forget that line of bullshit. do you have any idea how much money goes into training you? me neither, but i know it is alot, and they are not going to let you play hopscotch like that. the earliest you will change jobs is when you reup (unless you fail training, but lets not worry about that). anyway, i have pretty much just babbled on about what everyone eles said but whatever.
reading the other posts i want to watch this video but i am at work and could not enjoy it like i probably will.
and for those that feel queasy, remember, sometimes violence is the answer. if you do not agree then i am not sure we have common ground for dialogue.
i am outta here. grand prix of houston live an in color down the street. tried to break in and turn a lap last night but did not have bolt cutters with me and i was reluctant to smash through with the truck. must be getting old. damnit
April 20th, 2007 at 8:23 amIraqNoPhobe
Caller on Rush just offered this as the classification of pelosi pussies etc.
IraqNoPhobe ….Definition:
April 20th, 2007 at 8:56 amExtreme fear or loathing of success in Iraq.
0300 is CLOSED? WHAT THE FLYING FUCK?!?!?! Wheres the AlMar or release on that?
Rummy, do not fucking settle! If you want 03 you get 03. If you have to be a Security Forces bitch, do it. You will get great training, and a valuable clearance. Just show up ready to kick ass, and be in awesome shape. Go for Fake Assed Seal Team, that will better prepare you for the Fleet and you’ll get some deployment time while in MCSF battalion. Negatron to the Open Contract. If it is true that the 0300 fields are closed, it’s because they aren’t making mission on filling support MOS’s.
You do not get to lat move to Grunt. Just doesn’t happen unless you are an RTO, or are a moto-mofo and kick the shit out of a Recon Indoc.
If you want to be a killer, don’t settle for less than 03. (Not knocking you pogues out there)
April 20th, 2007 at 9:01 am****didn’t notice you are colorblind. That puts a damper on things.
I wouldn’t knock being a chute rigger. You’ll get jump school out of it, and have a good chance of getting a sweet gig. As much as I hate RedPatchers (LSB) their Air Delivery Platoons get to jump, quite a bit. Not sure of the vision standards though.
What are your DLB scores? If they are good, put in for linquist. Go to DLI in Monterrey and get in on a HET (or whatever they call it now) team. The 02 field is good stuff. Clearance, training, and you’ll be in the now. At the Battalion level, guys in the S2 shop are in tight with the Snipers, Recon, and are involved with stuff. You can make it a good thing. And it translates into money later on if you get out. Vision standards being what they are, and I don’t know them all around, a Field Radio Operator is a Battery Operated Grunt. Every Line company has a Comm Guru, and you will do Grunting along with everyone else. There are options.
Make your Recruiter earn your enlistment. Have him provide a list of MOS’s that YOU qualify for. Feel free to ask the DevilDogs here their opinions of, or for advice on finding what suits you best.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:12 amIt is a pleasure to watch our men doing God’s work. And sending that infidel to meet allah was especially satisfying. Just wish I could read the dissapointment on his face when he realizes he gave his life for a rock. And Mindy, when you are ampedon adrenalin, plus a natural dose of God given testosterone, you see that image in a different light. You are not alone in that observation (from a female perspective) in that a Loach pilot who was involved in a kill on insurgents who took cover in a building could not understand the celebration from her other squadron pilots/gunners when they lit same bld up with a rocket. It’s ingrained, competition, kickass desire and making, executing the shot. especially when you lose respect for your enemy. Yes they sacrifice themselves some say bravely, foolishly, but invariably all too many are cowards over there that we fight. A recent coworker of mine has a son in the Corp over there in Al Anabar province and this is what he conveyed to me. When they do a raid and roundup, they are so quick to turn their comrades in that it is actually pathetic. And yes, they get great intel from these vermin. It is not the rat out your enemies ploy to save their own skin, no they find other insurgents and weapons caches, and bomb making equipment. Pathetic that the libs can not figure it out that freedom never came cheap. Too bad Europe was never hit with the catylist that tells them the truth: They are at war as Pat has so eloquently illustrated the last two weeks. They may have at best between five and ten years before they do something about it or let the situation devalove into something that becomes a totally lost cause.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:21 amI’m finding it odd that there are no Infantry positions available in the Marines, especially when the MSM tells me that nobody wants to fight Bush’s illegal war.
@mindy:
If you knew what the enemy was capable of, you might not be so doubtful. (See: Nicholas Berg beheading, Paul Johnson beheading, et al.)
As far as I’m concerned, those fucking cockroaches (like al-Zarqawi, piss be on his rotting corpse) reneged their humanity some time ago since they cannot afford mercy to those they deem as inferior and unworthy.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:55 amNo infantry openings until OCTOBER.
I am very clear on what I want: to use my BRAINS or my BALLS.
I suppose I could take the LSAT. No openings available, but they might be able to find one if I scored huge.
I could pick up dead bodies, tag ‘em and bag ‘em. Not sure I want to.
John, I appreciate the encouragement. I apologize if I wrote that like a little bitch last night; I did yard-work all day, then got bitch-slapped at the recruiter’s office, then had to move expediciously to get ready for my date. Then we made dinner, got drunk, got my dick sucked, and went home. You’ll have to excuse me for letting my emotions fuck with me; I’m still a shitbag civilian.
Arty is closed. EVERYTHING THAT REQUIRES BALLS IS CLOSED.
Fuck the other branches.
The feedback I’ve got is about 50/50 with open contracts. Half the people seemed to like being mechanics, some people got stuck in sanitation. Good to know the lateral move is a pipe-dream.
We’re making phone calls.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:56 amEither with us or against us.
There’s no peaceful way to do war… There has to be satisfaction and adrenaline in firing off rounds into an enemy that wishes nothing but death, rape & torture to us. TBH that mook about to fire off @ one of ours died a very humane death compared to some of the civilians in this war.
Over there they only understand Old Testament judgement and war. I still believe we should have stuck Sadams head on the end of a stick for all to see. The enemy goes deep & we must go deep to restore peace and win.
I am thankful our guys can taste some victory & see their enemy go down. I hope and pray they all come back safe & are treated with great honor & respect.
When the sword goes in the dirt comes out.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:26 amAnyone know what became of the Marines who were shot in the still-photo sequence near the beginning of the video?
I heard something earlier today that sums up my feelings about Reid et al: “Support the troops - assassinate a Democrat.”
Oh, the party I’d throw…
April 20th, 2007 at 10:52 amA few certain shots in the video Pat has posted above aren’t new to me. I mean, the scenes were an American soldier is on the ground, clearly being shot, and another soldier is trying to get him out, only ending up to be wounded himselve.
These scenes have been going through my mind many times today and have a special meaning to me today. (Although I’ll probably never will forget them anyway.)
I wanted to have commented earlier, but because of the aftermath of events happening today, I couldn’t do this earlier. And I’m watching the clock so I won’t mis anything the Dutch MSM will without any doubt send at National tv within half an hour.
It’s about a certain band between “brothers”.
Early this morning, around 6.30 local time, a 21 year old Dutch corporal was killed by an IED while being on patrol in the south of Afghanistan.
In the attempt to recover his body, another soldier stumbled on an IED, killing him as well. This was an American soldier.
No one is left behind. With respect and honour, brothers in arms……
April 20th, 2007 at 11:52 amRummy, have you checked out the combat engineers? I started out air traffic control, that related to HAWK missile fire control crewman. I guess shooting down their birds is a way of ATC, but not what I expected. Did that 2 1/2 years, they pushed me into an office job for 1 1/2 years, then I got into the engineers. Not only do you get to play with REALLY big tonka toys, you will see action if you are part of a horizontal platoon. another option is NBC. Buclear Biological Cehmical warfare training can be real intense, some stuff you go through people never believe. But those guys are out there as well, playing in the dust and sand.
Do NOT go open contract like so many others have said, some of the assignments I saw handed out in basic were terrible. Who would join the corps today to be a cook or band member???
Charge on, do not give up. I as well find it hard to believe there are no grunt openings. Congrats on the date outcome… no pun ever intended…
My buddy is going back in at age 53, he retires from the police dept next month, had 16 years active before he got PO’d at Clinton being his CIC and got out. He is going in to go over and train Iraqi polic4e officers. Now, tell me, do you think he REALLY will not see any action???
Oh, and I am color blind, but with high scores, they are going to want to put you in a high tech field that is short of bodies. And from personal experience, it is HARD to go from a high tech field to a lower one such as an 03. I am not saying 03s are dumb, hell they are the smartest ones out there… It is just the way the Corps operates. And remember, most ASVAB scores to get in the Corps are higher than the minimum for OCS in the other branches… or they were 25 years ago
April 20th, 2007 at 12:08 pmRumsfeld,
April 20th, 2007 at 12:24 pmMy husband confirmed that there are plenty openings in infantry in both Army and Marines. You may just have to play hardball—even threaten to go to another branch (I know F*** the other branches) However, I have to remind you there are infantry men in Ramadi (like my husband) who are using balls and brains simultaneously and many are in the Army. He is fighting and leading and getting shot at too. A soldier’s blood is just as valuable as a marines. Many have the notion that the Marines is the only branch that has hard-core soldiers–let me assure you that is just the civilian sector’s perception.
Anyway, he said with an ASVAB of 99 they may want to use you in Intel (because no offense but not many marines score that high)–which Intel maybe great but if you sign up open contract you’ll most likely be screwing yourself–and there is no reason to do that. You have a good score–you are getting into good shape and they want YOU–not the other way around (or at least don’t let them think it’s the other way around).
He just said (well I won’t put it verbatim)–but he said make your recruiter earn the contract. He wants to get this over quickly so he can move on to his next DEP. He has numbers to make. I understand that but this will affect your future—fight for it. Show the marines the balls you have now—don’t wait until you get to Iraq. Also the recruiter mentality left over in him said to remind you that the Army gives bigger bonuses and you can get infantry no problem. However, the Army does have to endure longer rotations–so that is a drawback I suppose. So there is our advice for what it’s worth to you. I see you posting here—and well there aren’t enough true patriots in this country today and we hate to see one get screwed. My husband would write you himself–but ususally I just fill him in on what I’ve read here and Pat’s latest info. He is kind of busy fighting a war.
On a different vein– my husband got back from a mission last month. He had taken out a sniper (a female one at that) and was kind of pumped up afterwards. At first I didn’t know how to respond. Congrats? It is just weird to picture my husband the father of my boys shooting someone. I see the soft side of him; the one who sings Jesus Loves Me to our baby, the one who gets up to help me feed baby raccoons in the middle of the night, the one who cried like a baby when his Grandma died. The one that looks at me with tenderness. Yet, (and this is for Mindy) these men are put in a position that you or I will never be in. And they are the reason you or I will never be in that position. Soldiers and marines are experts at compartmentalizing–they have to be. How else can these wonderful men—face the danger, the loss, the horror of what they see everyday. It is their job to protect us–they are glad when they take out the enemy. That is one less person who can hurt someone they love back here. And in today’s atmosphere that is not a stretch at all. If I were facing someone that could very easily kill one of my sons—I would not hesitate–at all to shoot. And I may not dance around his corpse but I wouldn’t be sad either. This is a war. It is a jihad—I have mentioned Joel Rosenberg before–he has written about the rise of Islam and the conflict between it and Christianity (the book is called Epicenter). It is already foretold in the Bible–you don’t have believe me read it for yourself. It is all happening just as prophesies that are thousands of years old have said. When you see the age old strife between the line of Issac and the line of Ishmael, it is clear that it is them or us. There is no longer diplomacy, no longer appeasing them, they want blood. They want retribution for being denied their birthright. Upon studying the Koran you would see it is a mirror image of the Bible. Just as the anti-Christ will be a skewed, attempt to mimic Jesus. This conflict is made political, yes. Yet, when you see the larger picture it is evident that this has to play out–we will never live in harmony with Islam—it is not possible. Perhaps we are all paying for Abraham’s mistakes. Nonetheless, this is the world we live in today—a world where our soldiers have to fight against the enemy. Someone has to stem the coming tide–and they cannot afford to second guess themselves or feel remorse. And when they are “pumped up” after a kill that is a combination of relief that it wasn’t one of their own killed, relief that there is one less person on Earth to harm those they love, and pure adrenaline.
So apparently, there are a few infantry jobs, but they’re being “stingy” with them.
Fuck me.

Although you mean well you are wrong. First off Marines are not soldiers, Marines are Marines. Second, it isn’t just the civilians who feel that the other branches arn’t shit, 99% of the Marines that I know feel the same. Although I have a lot of respect for anyone who puts their ass on the line and I truly believe that the U.S. Army is the most powerful army in the world, the USMC is and always will be a better fighting force. About the ASVAB remark, I never saw a score below a 90, however, training and working at Ft. Lewis I have met a lot of dumb soldiers. In the future be sure to capitalize Marines.
Rummy, stick with the MC, you don’t want to do anything half-assed. You won’t be offered bonuses or incentives and you have to earn your rank, but unlike in the army you will learn the meaning of the words pride, respect and discipline. Like I said before, recruiters fucking lie! If the MC was full of 03’s than why did they just recall 240 two weeks ago? Just tell you recruiter that you are considering to switch branches if you don’t get the MOS you want. Make it believable and he will give it to you on a golden platter. Your problem might be that physically your not ready for it. If you can’t do more than 7 pull ups now or run 3 miles in under 24 min. you’re fucked and will be one of your DI’s special children. Falling into that role will make BC twice as shitty. Our fat-bodies who couldn’t PT or who had low PFT scores got IT’d hourly and had the first and last fire watch every night just so the DI’s could IT them then. If you go into BC over weight you will be starved, fucked on a regular basis and possibly recycled. Also if you get to your unit over weight they will put you on a remedial program where you can’t be promoted until you come off, and once again your NCO’s will be up your ass every day. Your recruiter knows all this and might be setting you up for success by making you a pog.
April 20th, 2007 at 2:34 pmRummy,
Listen to A Jarhead and look into doing Intel work. You might get stuck at the Div. level for awhile but if your shit-hot and in shape you can get yourself down to the Battalion in no time. Thats what I did for 5 years (and two deployments) and both times I got to do cool shit with Recon and snipers. Worked with several STA teams last time (’04) putting together “kill/capture” packages on some real bad motherfuckers and if you’re not a pussy you can get trigger time by volunteering for every fucking patrol and convoy going out of the gate. Don’t worry about not being 03 there are other cool jobs in the Corps. Once (if) you reenlist you can go be an 0211 CI/HUMINT operator and those motherfuckers are like the ghosts of the Corps. They go wherever and do whatever they want. Trust me.
April 20th, 2007 at 2:43 pmOkay to all those who answered me, thanks for doing so. And to all those who serve or family who serves
April 20th, 2007 at 5:16 pmSecond what mindy said.
@ both RaubackR and Heather:
This civilian was under no illusion that any branch of the military was better than the other as they all have their unique roles.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:45 pm@Steve in NC:
I saw “The War Tapes.” It was just…meh. (I did not like Zack Bazzi at all. Of course, I think when I saw a copy of The Nation that he had, it was instant hate from the get-go.)
I did not know that the two I ended up liking least (including Bazzi) were from Massachusetts (which is, if anybody’s been paying attention, my home state). That would figure. I have an affinity for not liking a lot of people here.
Watching just a few minutes of Pat’s material from “Young Americans” was way better.
(And I’m not just saying that because it’s Pat’s site. I mean it.)
April 20th, 2007 at 7:53 pmWHO DO I HAVE TO BLOW TO GET INFANTRY?
Rauback, I appreciate your comments.
1. I was told to pick 3 jobs that I wanted to do, and a certain Master Sergeant would go fishing for me. (I ship May 7!) My recruiter (now a Gunnery Sergeant) talked to his boss, who told him, “no open-contract.” So that’s out the window, for the better, I think. The jobs I picked were: Infantry, Artillery Fire Control, and Linguist. (Not intel; none available USMC-wide.) They’re fishing for one of those. Can anyone speak from experience (first or second hand) about what Fire Control is like? Will I get shot at?
2. I’ll be able to pass the IST without a problem. I expect to get smoked on a daily basis, put on a diet, et cetera. I welcome the pain. 7 pull-ups before bootcamp is out of the question. I’ve been working my balls off since March 7th; I’ve dropped 19 pounds since, and God knows how much muscle I’ve put on. (I look a lot different!) Today, I spent 4 hours doing heavy yardwork; tonight, I smoked myself for an hour on the elliptical and 50 pushups/situps. Burned well over a thousand calories at the gym, before I stepped into the sauna for 30 minutes.
3. There is no other branch for me.
4. “If the MC was full of 03’s than why did they just recall 240 two weeks ago?” Fuck if I know, sir!
5. “Your problem might be that physically your not ready for it. If you can’t do more than 7 pull ups now or run 3 miles in under 24 min. you’re fucked and will be one of your DI’s special children.” With all due respect, I know what I’m getting into. It will be hell. I’ve accepted that, and I look forward to losing the rest of this fucking flab I’ve been carrying around my whole life. The only thing I fear is living a life of quiet desperation, sir.
As for my recruiter… let’s just say he hasn’t honored some of his words and followed through on some of his commitments. I saw this shit coming the day after I swore in; not a week went by when I didn’t bug him about it. Now, I ship off in two weeks and I don’t have a job, and there are only three that I could live with myself doing. I do not want to unload shit, or clean shit, or fix shit, or pack shit, or do paper shit, or do logistical shit. Use my brains, or use my balls–anything else is a fucking waste. (sir.)
April 20th, 2007 at 7:58 pmRaubackR,
April 20th, 2007 at 9:39 pmYou are right about about one thing I do mean well. I was trying to offer advice based on actual experience to a young man willing to fight for his country. My husband even took time out to give me some advice to pass on. Unfortunately, the young man appears to feel that because he wants to be a marine that puts him in a superior position to a man who has put his life on the line for this country for 20 years. And not in some POG position–but ON THE LINE. Personally, I do not value any branch over any other. They all serve their purpose and they all have extraordinary individuals and those who are less than extraordinary. As for the rest of your comments:
1.I believe that you believe that the USMC is the best fighting force. And of course, the Marines feel the same. However, every soldier feels the Army is the best fighting force…it is called rivalry. Everyone has an opinion.
2.As for the ASVAB remark; Like I have said before–I do know of what I speak–it was not a dig just a fact. A 99 is an above average score (especially considering that it is a percentage based score). The Army and the Marines only require a 31 and 32 respectively to join. The Air force requires a 36, the Navy a 35, and the Coast Guard a 40. A 68 will qualify you for an intel job in the Marines–so yes I would say 99 is very good. Perhaps you have been lucky to only meet those who are very intelligent. In 3 years I have met many soldiers and marines who have scored below a 90. I believe that you have met a lot of dumb soldiers–so have I. I have also met dumb marines, politicians, real estate agents, teachers, and even doctors–the dumb exist everywhere……….
3. Please note that during this post and my previous post I have capitalized Army when speaking of the entire Army force and used a lower case “s” for soldier. Likewise, I capitalize Marines when speaking of the corps as a whole. As is grammatically correct, I use a lower case “m” when referring to an individual. If you will reread my post you will see I never said a soldier was a marine–believe me I learned not to do that from my soldier. I always say soldiers and marines–because I know they are not the same and want to be differentiated. I know very well the protocol to show respect within the military. I would suggest that you familiarize yourself with the same before you go barking orders to others.
“Unfortunately, the young man appears to feel that because he wants to be a marine that puts him in a superior position to a man who has put his life on the line for this country for 20 years. And not in some POG position–but ON THE LINE.”
Heather, I appreciate your help very much, but let me respectfully inform you that on this point, you are mistaken.
I’ve picked the branch I wanted to join, and aside from one comment about the Army’s basic training being weak (which is correct), I haven’t said anything bad about any of the other branches (although I have passed on things Marines have said about the Air Force, which amuse me).
My father went through Army OSC and became an infantry officer; he recommended the Marine Corps. “I would have stayed in the Army if they had been serious,” he said. Furthermore, the more people you have, the bigger the bureaucracy has to be to support it.
I’ll repeat what I said above: “I do not want to unload shit, or clean shit, or fix shit, or pack shit, or do paper shit, or do logistical shit. Use my brains, or use my balls–anything else is a waste.” I have nothing to prove to anyone, but everything to prove to myself. I’m not joining the Corps to do dumb work (sorry for the arrogance, but I think my desire for an MOS that requires brains and or balls is warranted).
I will not be okay with unloading shit, or packing other people’s parachutes, or fixing cars. I didn’t say I won’t be happy with it–I mean that I will hate every second of it, get out as soon as I can, curse my recruiter with every breath, and tell no one to ever join the USMC, because they don’t believe that Honor and Commitment pertains to recruiting.
I didn’t specify which comments of Rauback’s I appreciated–the ones that were directed at me, I found thoughtful, enlightening, and wise. I did not mean to say I appreciated the ones where he cut into you for this and that; that could be filed under “unnecessary and unhelpful.” Your husbands advice has gone directly to heart, and I appreciate him giving his time to help me out.

“I know very well the protocol to show respect within the military”.
We’re Marines. We always capitalize it whether talking about the Corps as a whole or as an individual. Since you know the proper protocol, could you please respect us and capitalize it. Not an order, just asking.
April 21st, 2007 at 6:35 amRumsfeld,
I appreciate you taking the time to clarify. I was a bit irritated–the general vibe I was getting was that Marines are the s*** and the Army isn’t worth s***. That is not something an Army wife wants or needs to hear– after knowing how much her husband sacrifices to protect this country and especially now with us being away from one another. I will not have my love and best friend with me for another year and possibly 15 months. We received a mass letter from the Sec. of Defense. I am certain he is prepping us for an 18 month deployment. My heart is broken and it is like a dagger being twisted in a wound to hear what sounds like my husband being disrespected and unappreciated.
Dave,
April 21st, 2007 at 7:57 amOK point taken–some things like respect can supercede grammatical rules. So if it is a respect thing–then we should capitalize Marines and Soldiers. I kind of like that. Deal?
Oh and thank you for asking nicely—I don’t do well with taking orders unless they are from my God or from my husband (and even he almost always asks me nicely).
South Vietnam fell because the democrats would not spring for a few bucks for beans and bullets and wouldn’t allow our Air Force to do a few flyovers to knock out some tanks that were rolling in from the border when the North launched their chinese communist financed blitzkreig. We left the South with a reasonable facsimile of a democracy and a reasonably trained military. The democrats turned 55,000 dead Americans into an ‘all for naught’ by refusing the few bucks and few flyovers. Back then they did it after we withdrew, this time they’re doing an encore right to your face.
April 21st, 2007 at 12:10 pmwhat happened to those dudes at 3:35-3:10? i hope they’re okay.
April 22nd, 2007 at 3:39 pmMan, am I glad the Marine’s are on our side! I don’t have any military affiliation, I am just a mother of three in Phoenix, AZ and I stumbled on this website through the DrudgeReport. Seeing this gave me two responses, 1) I am so proud and thankful that we have men like you to protect us. And 2) I am glad I am a woman and don’t have to do that, because that video alone scared the crap out of me. Where do you get the courage?!? You guys are awesome. It is so funny that the Democrats talk about bringing home our “children” in the military. I mean, if the Democrats have to protect you, who is going to protect us???? I was always under the impression you were the bad-ass guys with the guns, and yes, I was right. I just want to say thank you thank you thank you!!!! And I am not the only one so keep on doing what you are doing!
April 24th, 2007 at 7:47 amI love you guys That video rocked! Thanks for defending our countries freedom. Be safe in all you do and come home to your families. We will win the war and kick major terrorist ass thanks to you.
