A Bloody Day In The Life
Below is a series of email excerpts from the now-famous Corporal Tyler Rock. This first one was sent on April 23, at 12:27 P.M PST. I have not heard from Corporal Rock in a couple of days as he is out on an ambush. He is in Ramadi.
“the Iraqi Police have been working on a new OP right outside the one we are in now. haha they are using the building that we got blown up in though. that was gay. that was the first time we tried building this security station. the one we are in now is actually the second attempt. the first one, while picking up sandbags, the floor blew up (apparently they put an IED under the floor and then re-tiled it), then we started getting mortared while we were trying to collect casaulities. after that we got RPG’d, had grenades thrown at us, and shot at. then we had a VBIED try to drive up to us but the snipers shot the driver and it blew up down the road. i remember saying i bet they are going to throw a frag through the window and someone told me to stop joking and then you hear, “ala akbar!” and then something hits the dresser we put infront of the window and you hear an explosion outside of the window and flames come up. it sucked. so from there we ran to another building where our corpsman, doc lejeune, bumped into the wall and knocked a panel off and found 5 IED’s in the wall. so we ran from there to the families house. but i have to get off right now so ill be back on shortly. when its my turn to get back on the computer. anyways thanks for putting that shit out there.”
And, at 2:08 P.M.:
“all the guys agree with me here. like i said. hit me up when you want some more stories of the shit we have done that the reporters dont tell. its funny. when they were here they wouldnt let them come out to where we are. they told them that it was too dangerous. isnt that the point? no one sees the things that the average joe marine sees. these Iraqi Soldiers get really heated when you talk about saddam. like start spitting on the ground and showing the bottoms of their feet. apparently a lot of them were forced into serving under him when he was in power and they were beat and treated like shit. thats why most of them voluntered to fix the problems of iraq. and most of them know more about american politics then the artsy fartsy college kids they say we are the ignorant ones that have nothing better to do in life than join the military.”
April 18, 6:31 A.M. PST The hospital he is referring to is the one Zarqawi was treated in the first time he was wounded.
“well the hospital is pretty much ours now. we built OP’s all around it and just recently we built one in the compound of it. those fields are fucking gay though. we had a mission were we swept for cache’s and got hit pretty hard. we ended up running all the way back down tower from it. but we were hookin’ and jabbin’ the whole damn way. to the south is actually starting to hit back up in comparison to the rest of the place because they have no where else to go. the army has that area. we dont really get mortared anymore. they used to do it all the time. one of alpha’s OP got hit pretty bad. but we found all the mortar caches so far so it doesnt happen really anymore. i dont know if you ever went into the hospital but it wasnt worth saving anyways. i got some pics from up top though.
-rock”
And, at 7:06 A.M.
“as for the hospital. we figured that. when we first went in they eye fucked us pretty hard and said they didnt like us there. the first week we were there an insurgent rode a bike with a bomb in and blew all the IP’s ( Iraqi Police ) away. now its on lock down. we actually consider that the green zone now to the other devil’s up in the OP to the east of it. we turned some guys mansion into an OP.”
Some of the gents you are reading about
7:17 A.M.
“yeah, officers are pretty good on the bum scoop. we actually already took down downtown ramadi. thats actually where im writing from now. mot huh? the only thing is that we have so many OP’s now. we were tight for people to man them let alone do anymore ops. of course we did though. the IP’s are doing a lot of work now. they are finding caches everyday. granted that some are insurgents themselves but those ones get flushed out eventually. i guess thats just the nature of the beast.”
April 23, 2:28 P.M.
“I dont really consider you a reporter as much as a person who actually cares. you know, a real american.”
April 18, 2:31 A.M.
” Pat, i just want you to know that everything you say about ramadi is right. im
with 1/6 charlie company and ive been blown up and shot at way too many times
but im not complaining because we have completely turned this place around. it
shows just by the fact that im writting you from a security station that we
built in the middle of the city. right on the corner of racetrack and give me
rd. in oct. we had 3 marines killed on this corner from an IED and now we own
the street and we own the north. my company and my platoon has built 7 OP’s
in the city. i used to see 4 explosions a day from post at the beginning of the
deployment and now i only hear 1 or 2 gunshots a day. we have flushed out every
cocksucking insurgent and taken all their weapons. i just thought you would
want to know that we kicked ramadi’s ass.”
April 24, 1:34 A.M.
“so many people have written comments. a lot of them say that your website is the shit. im glad because more people need to read your site. that reporter wrote back and said my mom was doing well haha. i should probably call her and tell her whats going on. we are supposed to go out tonight for like 3 days but i dont know when we are leaving. im probably going to stand post first.”
kick ass corespondence!
this is what the public needs to hear.
good job pat!
rock on Corporal Rock!
April 26th, 2007 at 7:45 amYa gotta love those grunts!
April 26th, 2007 at 7:47 amYou go, Cpl Rock! Keep your head down (on your sights) and your spirits up. And keep the commentary comin’!
April 26th, 2007 at 8:03 amYeah, you don’t hear stories like this in other news outlets. Watch your ass, and someday I’ll be leading a platoon of Gyrenes into Pyongyang, Tehran, Damascus, or Beijing! We’re proud of you, and wish you the best!
April 26th, 2007 at 8:08 amCpl. Tyler, It is the socialist libs such as EXmarine Murtha, Dingy Harry, Pig Pelosi and the likes that would critisize/belittle you. I think most in college apprecieate what you are doing with the exception of the socialst professors.
ROCK ON..
April 26th, 2007 at 8:11 amHere is what McCain had to say to Murtha: “All I’m going to say to Murtha and others. … Lighten up and get a life.”
April 26th, 2007 at 8:27 amBut it is so many Republican politicians that REFUSED to serve through deferrments that are for war!!1 So hypocritical!!! Cheney had 5 deterrments during Vietnam.
He was all for the war…..as long as SOME ONE ELSE would do the fighting.
I still dont see Sean Hannity enlisting!!!
April 26th, 2007 at 8:49 amThis site has become addictive. Thanks Tyler, and I am glad that I caught a feature of Pat on late night coast to coast that put me onto thus site. You do not know how bad so many of us have been wanting to find a portal to the truth. Too bad so many can not handle the truth!
April 26th, 2007 at 9:01 amDenis,
Let me sum up my response to your last post:
You dumb fuck …
April 26th, 2007 at 9:09 amI’m tellin you, all the journalists in the world should be replaced with marines.
It’d be much more informative.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:11 amdrillanwr. Great summation. That is about all these pea brain dick heads understand.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:13 amDenis or Denise or whoever the fuck you are,the military isn’t for everyone. That doesn’t mean you can’t support them.Your a mental illiterate.
Your supposed to be the party of compassion…talk about hypocracy!
Again I see some piece of shit that is having flashbacks of high school. The military isn’t the football team that used to pick on you for being a pussy.Your a sit behind your computer tough guy.I double dog dare you to tell a fighting man or women what you really think.Thought so pussy!!
April 26th, 2007 at 9:18 amOne more thing prick,Why isn’t KKK Byrd,or Ted 2 fifths Kennedy enlisting?Thought so again pussy!! You fuckers are a disgrace.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:24 amGee Denis,
I didnt see Clinton serve a day and he sent Troops to Bosnia/Kosovo, and all over the world.
Talk about Hypocrites!!
April 26th, 2007 at 9:44 amPat, I can’t say it enough, your site is one of the best out there. And CPL Rock…you’re the best! Keep us posted.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:44 amI should have said Clinton didnt seve a day in the Military, he did serve his Country, right into the trash can.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:46 amI forgot to hand Cpl Rock and Pat amd all OUR Marines and All OUR Military a Beer.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:49 amMarine,sorry to correct you sir but it’s Clit-on
April 26th, 2007 at 9:50 amCpl Rock thank you and all your friends and fellow Marines serving our country and protecting our freedom. Keep on kicking ass and we’ll see you home here soon enough… when the job is done!
April 26th, 2007 at 10:04 amDenis:
use your brain. We have a VOLUNTEER military right now. Cheney would have been in his late 20s when the draft kicked into full gear and why don’t you stop bitching about who’s fighting and start looking at what people do and do not do for this country. If you’re so concerned with who’s dieing for your right to be a dumb ass maybe you should write your Congressmen and tell him you want a universal draft. Everyone who’s in the military made a conscience decision to do so, they volunteered to be that SOME ONE ELSE because pussies like yourself would rather sit it out on the sidelines nad make sly comments behind anonymous posts.
Cheney has been a public servant for a long ass time and he’s done one hell of a job.
April 26th, 2007 at 10:15 amAnd Cpl Rock, keep up the good work! Thanks for defending my right to be an American.
April 26th, 2007 at 10:16 amKudos to Cpl. Rock and his team. Tyler, there are Americans back home who are behind you 100%. Keep fighting the good fight, and telling it like it is.
You guys are the greatest ambassadors the U.S. could ask for.
Greg
April 26th, 2007 at 10:17 amThis is admittedly O/T, but look at what I just found on this fucked up Muslim website www.jihadunspun.com (I don’t know how to embed a link). Tell me this war is not important and that we should abandon it after you read this shit:
“Then came Bush’s stupid statement where he emphasized that his strategic goal in Iraq is more than a military victory but also to prevent the Mujahideen from benefiting from the fruits of the Jihad to ultimately achieve victory.
This is how the cross worshipping occupiers and their henchmen live. Their morale continues to collapse as the result of the increasing strikes of the Mujahideen, carried out by the grace of Allah. From downing their aircraft to penetrating their fortified Green Zone and targeting the heads of apostasy and agents, all this has pushed the American army to repeat what it did in Vietnam. In a similar fashion, they are instigating the policy of isolating cites and regions by building a concrete roadblocks and walls as we see in al-Ghazaliyah, al-Ameriyah and others places in order to create a huge prison for the Sunnis. But none of this disappoints the Mujahideen; they have activated their sniper weapons against Allah’s enemies to fill their hearts with terror and death, by the grace of Allah.
The use of these policies by the occupiers shows their inability and the failure of all their past efforts to defeat the Mujahedeen. Our battle against the enemy is first and foremost the will to fight and the length of the battle does not rest with the cross worshippers. Their past efforts to isolate and besiege cities such as Fallujah, Samarra, Hadithah and al-Qaim continue to be met with resistance, by the grace of Allah.”
I cannot believe people don’t think this is a religious war and will be fought to the death - whether we choose it or not.
Semper Fi,
JDizzy
April 26th, 2007 at 10:22 amSemper Fi Cpl Rock! America is behind you guys all the way. We are also glad that Pat is able to pass your words on the rest of us, so we can hear the truth, instead of the BS the MSM gives. Those of us who are too old or physically can’t serve owe you guys a huge debt. We will pay it back in spade by getting the government purged of those liberal facists that would throw you guys to the wolves like Clinton did when he had the chance.
April 26th, 2007 at 10:23 amhere, i forgot to include this too:
“Allah Almighty says:
‘ They will not fight you (even) together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls. Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves: thou wouldst think they were united, but their hearts are divided: that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom.” Qur’an 59-14
It is apparent to every watchful eye that recent events over the past few days have exposed a huge crack in America’s administration. With weak declarations from their leaders about events on the ground in Iraq just two months after the so-called “Baghdad security plan” commenced and a growing dispute about funds spent on the Iraq and Afghan wars, the American command has now said “The current security plan is the last chance for the American army and the Maliki government’.”

April 26th, 2007 at 10:23 amJust found this site a couple of days ago. Good stuff. Keep it coming from Cpl. Rock
Cpl. Rock if you ever come through St. Louis Lambert Intl Airport, stop by the USO. There are many of us that volunteer there and enjoy meeting all military personnel.
April 26th, 2007 at 10:42 amGawd bless you, Cpl. Rock, one of your e-mails has more truth than 6 months of “objective reporting” from the “professional” media morons. Stay safe!
And Cpl. Rock points up something that almost no-one mentions:
“these Iraqi Soldiers get really heated when you talk about saddam. like start spitting on the ground and showing the bottoms of their feet. apparently a lot of them were forced into serving under him when he was in power and they were beat and treated like shit. thats why most of them voluntered to fix the problems of iraq”
Of course there are infiltrators and jihadis against us, but these IP and IA guys are getting blown away 10,20, even 50 at a pop (often while waiting in line to enlist)…and they still volunteer in overwhelming numbers. For every 1 American hero lost, the vermin are killing 15-20 Iraqis, we can only imagine the bone-chilling terror that those civilians feel when they get the threat note under the door, the anonymous phone call, or see the “bring your kid to this school and we’ll kill him” poster on the school wall…Yet they continue to defy them, EVEN AS BENEDICT HARRY & CO PROMISE TO SURRENDER THE FIELD TO THOSE CUTTHROATS.
We need to stop this “catch & release” bullsh!t, look the other way while the IP torture a select few of these to death, have A LOT OF THEM sent to the gallows/firing squad…the only way to win the war against this enemy! That will give confidence to our allies…They HAVE the courage, but we are forcing them to LOSE CONFIDENCE in our will to win.
Gawd, but Cpl. Rock & Co. are doing an awesome job to build it up again!
“Thanks, Harry–YOU DOUCHE!”
April 26th, 2007 at 10:48 amI Second Maria and JDizzy,
A bit of history for you…does anything about this sound frighteningly familiar? [Read Below] Are there any StarBucks drinking Dhimmi-cratic-fascist-liberals out there who can explain this fun bit of history? Or are you too busy subdividing your toilet paper sheets and buying carbon offsets?
“And all [the Christians] neglected to do what they ought to have done, and they were too careless to make a journey to Royal Camp, and show [the king] what had happened to them. And they continued in the sleep of negligence until there overtook them (160) certain events which they never thought could possibly take place.
And the evil condition of things became worse, because punishment had arrived, and the Arabs and the Mongol troops began to throw up mounds and to construct machines of various kinds and to wage war systematically. From the moment when NASIR hoisted that evil signal, the Christians who were in the city were slain in the streets (or bazars), and in the market-places of the city. Many of them fled and went into the houses of the Muslims, but even these were dragged out from them through informers; and on the second day of the week (165) (Monday), they died cruel deaths, no mercy [being shown to them].”
Thank god for all of you who are NOT sleeping the “sleep of negligence”.
April 26th, 2007 at 10:51 amthe bravest person Ive ever know… you are all right we are lucky to have him defending us. UAADR for life

April 26th, 2007 at 12:01 pm“I cannot believe people don’t think this is a religious war and will be fought to the death - whether we choose it or not.”
JDizzy,
The truth shall set us (keep us)free … and the rest of the world too.
We didn’t ask for this war, it came to us (and any lib that’s thinking about chiming in with `Saddam didn’t have anything to do with 9-11′ just shove it). This all started when Iran took our people hostage in the 1970s. This country HAS ignored the fact that war was declared on us way back then. Saddam shared his hospitality with known terrorists, and had a shit-load of money to send to suicide bombers in Israel … WHAT makes anyone think the bloody bastard wouldn’t fund something like another 9-11??? You think, in all his vanity, that Saddam woould sit back and let UBL get all the attention??!
Denial is a damn muddy river that’ll drown the world …
April 26th, 2007 at 12:06 pmThis is a little off topic, but I had to share this:

April 26th, 2007 at 12:39 pmANYONE READ THE LOAD OF CRAP BARACK JUST RELEASED. COMPLETELY RIDICOLOUS
April 26th, 2007 at 12:59 pmWhat the *#!$$$ is up with the Republican leadership. If Hagel and Smith had voted with the Republicans and McCain had shown up to vote with Graham then the defeat and surrender bill would have failed 49 to 50. Again, I say, why the #!@%%!! can’t the Republicans get their act together. Ugh.

April 26th, 2007 at 2:22 pmbtw, i’ve said it once, i’ll say it again: that morally-challenged scumbag harry reid always reminds of the shady nevada senator in “godfather: part 2,” so capably portrayed by g.d. spradlin! “frankly, i don’t care for your type, mister coor-leee-on-nay!”
April 26th, 2007 at 2:25 pmsubsitute “american serviceman” for “corleone” and you’re all set!
lastly, i always love these hypocritcal loser dem trolls like the above clown denis. (i mean, seriosuly, do any of you visit daily kos, huffpost or their ilk and try to engage that crowd in a fight? what an extraordinarily lame way to spend your time and you only serve to confirm our suspicions about your crowd with this type of jr. high behavior.) anyway, let me get this straight, denis: unless we enlist and serve we’re not allowed to be suportive of this president, the troops’ objectives and this war? we’re all just a bunch of bellicose pimps for israel who want to get our hands on oil and repress poor third world muslims everywhere BUT not get our hands dirty, right? ok, asshat, since you’re obviously not in the military, then YOU’RE not entitled to voice an opinion either, so shut the f*ck up already. go watch a bill moyer or michael moore propaganda flick and get the hell out of here - you’re smelling up the joint!!
April 26th, 2007 at 2:37 pmDenis did you ask why clinton’s daughter did not serve in Bosnia during his illegal war?

“What the *#!$$$ is up with the Republican leadership. If Hagel and Smith had voted with the Republicans and McCain had shown up to vote with Graham then the defeat and surrender bill would have failed 49 to 50.”
I guess those fucks did get enough pork bribes to sell out for, and for McCain, not sure why he did not vote. There is the opinion that having this bill pass as written and sent to Bush for a public veto will really help expose those fuckers for the pieces of shits that they are.
The bill is being sent to Bush on the 4th anniversary of his speech before the mission accomplished banner. (which was Tommy Franks idea to praise the troops) That again helps prove these assholes give a fuck about the troops, doing that they prove that this is just another political stunt to try and grab the White House in 08. They support the troops when they are in a flag draped coffin, it is great theater for them.
April 26th, 2007 at 2:58 pmWatching the presidetial debate…have to say
April 26th, 2007 at 3:59 pm(former) Senator Mike Gravel is the best!!!!
Love the way he attacked the others.
Thank you cpl rock. Hope you are safe. the IED hunter was funny.
April 26th, 2007 at 3:59 pmGravel is a screaming idiot. He can’t even talk calmly like everyone else. He is going to have a coronary on stage.
April 26th, 2007 at 4:00 pmOh, and Denis, this the DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE debate, NOT the Presidential debate.
Wanna try again?
April 26th, 2007 at 4:01 pmthank you corporal rock…keep posting! thanks, pat! this site is GREAT!
April 26th, 2007 at 4:27 pmGo here and “vote” what you think of each Democrat candidate. I am not sure how long this link will work.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18300340/
At this posting, Dodd is 8% approval, Screaming Gravel is 12%, Mrs. Bill Clinton is 32%, Breck Girl is 38%, and “The Magic Negro” is 46%.
April 26th, 2007 at 4:38 pm“Magic Negro”, that is great!
He has announced an end to the war is only a signature away! What a complete idiot.
April 26th, 2007 at 4:42 pmDenis a litle FYI, I first voted “DEMOCRATIC” for JFK
April 26th, 2007 at 4:44 pmand have voted independent every since. My idea of a
good Democrat is Zell Miller and at one time Ronald
Reagn was a democrat and union member. My point being
you don’t have to be a Republican to want to kick the
bad guys ass…I am a hard core beliver in you get em on
the ground then kick the crap out of them and don’t let
up…You do that you won’t have any more problems. One
last note there isn’t any Democratic party left in this
country,Just Euro/Commie Slime…
Hey denis why dont you grab a weapon and enlist if your so concerned with the US military losing. You can grab a weapon and fight on the other side it sounds like jackass. What makes you freakin hippies always throw that chickenhawk or grab a weapon line in when you have no intention of doing it and are urging the defeat or surrender of those fighting. you grab a weapon jackass and i dont mean your keyboard or the tiny little shrivled up unused cocktail wienie you have in your pants.
April 26th, 2007 at 4:51 pmBarrack song -

April 26th, 2007 at 5:25 pmCan anyone in here name one war that the left in this country hasnt undermined since WW2?
April 26th, 2007 at 5:53 pm“Can anyone in here name one war that the left in this country hasnt undermined since WW2?”
I don’t know that you could call these wars, but Grenada and Panama come to mind. Both were over before the Dumb-O-Crats knew what happened.
April 26th, 2007 at 5:58 pmI guess they dropped the ball on those gramps. There was no time to set up anti war rallies in between bong hits before they were over.
April 26th, 2007 at 6:02 pmA beautiful video from a USMC Sgt…”Ohhh, the brutalityyyyy…”
Check out the faces of those kids…the people Benedict Harry wants to abandon to the headchoppers and terror-bombers.
He is too despiccable for words.

April 26th, 2007 at 6:22 pmPat, you will be needing ALOT more bandwidth.
Semper Fidelis to all you guys who may be reading this and serving in Iraq! I’m fighting the good fight DAILY over here for you guys and I won’t quit! I want my band to come to Iraq and give you all a concert, and I can stil shoot straight too if need be. CHECK IT OUT AND BUG PEOPLE TO GET US OVER THERE so we can play for you guys. You have no idea how bad I want this.
BluesUnchained.com
Semper Fi! You guys are the best Americans!
April 26th, 2007 at 6:30 pmAwesome post. Love it when the troops take it to the bad guys. The press must get guys out there with them. There are reporters that would risk it. When Cpl. Rock says “they wouldn’t let them come out here” does the “they” refer to news companies or the military higher ups?

April 26th, 2007 at 6:34 pmJewish Odysseus: Awesome video, just awesome. Thanks to the US Congress and US Senate for doing what you did.. YOU FUCK HEADS!
April 26th, 2007 at 6:37 pmjewish odysseus,
great find!
do you think it’s possible for even a lib to find something with this?
April 26th, 2007 at 6:39 pmFuckin’ A! The silent majority needs to fuckin’ SOUND OFF LIKE THEY GOT A PAIR!
April 26th, 2007 at 6:41 pmBobUSMC: Contact the state department and/or a conservative memember of Congress. Take me with you. I will be a stage hand/gofer..
April 26th, 2007 at 6:42 pmCopy and paste that video link to everyone on your mailing list and to your dick head congressman and senator.
April 26th, 2007 at 6:44 pmMO - Sure it is possible for a lib to say something negative about that video. “The soldier wasn’t taking his job seriously. How is that defending the country? This is what my tax dollars are paying for?”
That video is fucking awesome, and something the media COULD play without editing.
April 26th, 2007 at 6:55 pm0311inohio, sure, you can come with us, gladly! LOL.
April 26th, 2007 at 6:58 pmJust have to get it arranged somehow. I’m pretty damn desperate to be 100% honest. It’d mean the world to me and I wouldn’t care if I ever played my guitar again after that.
Greg,
You’re right but I still cannot understand how there is anything negative about these kids smiling. How could the Dems not feel the slightest bit of guilt for their broken commitment?
Et tu Brute comes to mine.
April 26th, 2007 at 7:02 pmEt du, Harry?
April 26th, 2007 at 7:03 pmEt du, Douchebag?
April 26th, 2007 at 7:03 pmdenis,
we need people like sean hanity in the media to balance out the landslide liberal bias in the media. WE have too many journalist with no military experience favoring the enemy, we also need journalists facvoring US. Same with cheney or any other politician. that is fighting for our side, just not in the physical sense. The same reason pat hasnt enlisted himself, he is fighting in the media war and will continue to do so with the camera.
your logic suggests that anyone who favors the war has to enlist or have been in before. by that same token then, anyone who has been a soldier or is a soldier must support this war? tell that to IVAW! or vets for peace!
I hope you were never in the military, if you were, then you are disqualified from being against this war !
peace
ps. osama is still recruiting for the Jihad. perhaps since you support him you will consider enlisting. you want to take a side, take the side of freedom, its what you are enjoying now!
April 26th, 2007 at 7:13 pmJewish Odysseus,
Great video.
As for the dems or anyone finding fault with it … the trooper is doing his job, winning the hearts and minds.
Beautiful little faces. I hope they have a positive future.
Funny how those screaming for us (and Bush) to do something in Darfur (and I agree, the Islamists need to be stopped there too) are the same fools that would have us cut and run out of Iraq and allow it to become another Darfur.
April 26th, 2007 at 7:15 pm“ps. osama is still recruiting for the Jihad. perhaps since you support him you will consider enlisting.”
TJ,
PERFECT! It’d be a one mission deal for him
April 26th, 2007 at 7:17 pmI’m with Titus on this one, guys; if the war is lost, then the troops lives have indeed been a waste:
“In peace and honour rest you here, my sons;
Rome’s readiest champions, repose you here in rest,
Secure from worldly chances and mishaps!
Here lurks no treason, here no envy swells,
Here grow no damned grudges; here are no storms,
No noise, but silence and eternal sleep:
In peace and honour rest you here, my sons!”
And on the issue of what to do with one’s enemies:
“Hark, villains! I will grind your bones to dust
And with your blood and it I’ll make a paste,
And of the paste a coffin I will rear
And make two pasties of your shameful heads,
And bid that strumpet, your unhallow’d dam,
Like to the earth swallow her own increase.”
In other words, feed them to their own mothers, who are whores.
And on the issue of politicians:
” A stone is soft as wax: tribunes more hard than stones.
A stone is silent and offendeth not,
And tribunes with their tongues doom men to death.”
And on the issue of Cpl. Rock’s letter to Harry Reid,
“I pray you, deliver him this petition;
April 26th, 2007 at 7:20 pmTell him, it is for justice and for aid,
And that it comes from old Andronicus,
Shaken with sorrows in ungrateful Rome.
Ah, Rome! Well, well; I made thee miserable
What time I threw the people’s suffrages
On him that thus doth tyrannize o’er me.”
Shakespeare on the issue of Cpl. Rock’s letter to Harry Reid,
“I pray you, deliver him this petition;
Tell him, it is for justice and for aid,
And that it comes from old Andronicus,
Shaken with sorrows in ungrateful Rome.
Ah, Rome! Well, well; I made thee miserable
What time I threw the people’s suffrages
On him that thus doth tyrannize o’er me.”
Mmm-hmm. Shakespeare is still as sharp today as he ever was. Titus is complete with a deceitful Moorish villain! God, I could write an essay about how perfectly it captures our current shit-storm of a situation. And it’d be good.
April 26th, 2007 at 7:23 pmMO - “You’re right but I still cannot understand how there is anything negative about these kids smiling.”
There is nothing negative and it shows kids are innocent until they are corrupted by the people they grow up around.
But, in the liberal mind there is something negative in this video about the kids. “These young, impressionable kids are being duped into believing they should trust and believe the US is there to help them. Fortunately they are too young to understand if their land wasn’t rich in oil we wouldn’t be there.”
It is so easy to come up with liberal responses. All you have to do is watch the evening news and any popular TV show that doesn’t require thought to follow. This is only part of what the liberals don’t understand; you have to learn your enemy.
I tried to be a “liberal for a day” where I would force myself to think, act, and respond like them for at least one day. I made it about five minutes and wouldn’t recommend trying it.
April 26th, 2007 at 8:08 pmI want to thank all of you guy serving in Iraq and I for one am fed up with the way many American’s are acting. Wonder if anyone heard George Tenet just released a book blaming it all on Bush and Cheney. What a piece of shit Tenet is he blew 9-11 and the terrorists training at flight schools. He blew the Sadaam WMD call now the lefties will roll out the carpet for him. Pretty sure this jackass along with Pelosi Reid and about 90% of the Dems need to do the perp walk for Sedition.
April 26th, 2007 at 8:35 pmHere is another awesome MNF-Iraq video from a few weeks back…OF COURSE the MSM didn’t air this for us to see…”No, we can’t let the American people see our heroes as heroes, nosirrrreeeeeeee…”

Ah, hell … there ya go, showing progress and grateful Iraqis again … {sssheesh!}
BTW, don’t let the dems in Congress see our guy going over that wall … They’ll be bitching, `He could have fallen! How dare Bush put him in harms way!’
April 26th, 2007 at 9:02 pmDrillanwr - ” BTW, don’t let the dems in Congress see our guy going over that wall … They’ll be bitching, `He could have fallen! How dare Bush put him in harms way!’”
See, now your learnin’. You could add, “See how he didn’t know how to handle his gun? He could have killed that guy helping him over the wall!”
April 26th, 2007 at 9:07 pmDrill, we know that there are grateful, weeping families in Iraq every day hugging and thanking our troops, just like the folks in this vid (or like the Europeans we liberated from Hitler)…BUT WHY DON’T WE SEE THEM ON THE NEWS?!
Because the media is dominated by people who feel it is more important to destroy/discredit Bush & Co. than win WW IV.
I consider it treason, myself.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:08 pmTHANK YOU Jewish Odysseus. 100% true.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:34 pmI am so ashamed of our Congresscreeps, that I can barely contain my contempt in polite company.
Mercifully, the severe imbalance this creates is easily compensated by how proud Our Troops make me.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:41 pmPat,
I have to thank you for this site, your dedication to getting the truth out, the courage and intestinal fortitude putting your life in harms way with our troops in making your documentary. As a veteran during the Cold War through the first Gulf War, I appreciate you serving this country and our troops.
To Corporal Rock:
I have to say, AMEN! Your words cut deeper than your combat knife against the Liberal leadership on Capital Hill. It’s a shame that they’ll turn a deaf ear to what you say or anyone else when telling them the reality of the situation and not the surreal fantasy they have surrounded themselves with.
Like you, I was outraged when I heard what coward Harry Reid said. I am still sitting here wondering why he wasn’t arrested for ‘aiding and abetting the enemy.’ As Gerry K stated, Reid along with the entire Liberal leadership and their followers have committed Sedition by the very definition of the word. I’ll take that a step further. By definition, they are guilty of Treason. In this case, it goes hand in hand, and those who would undermine this country during the time of war must be held accountable.
I don’t care who is in office, I don’t care which party has control. I only care of what is happening to the very country I served and defended for fourteen years of my life. A great number of this nation’s politicians, Liberals and Conservatives, along with it’s people have short-term memory loss of what happen to this country almost six years ago.
What we are seeing today would never have happened during World War I or II. Patriotism had one meaning then, not what it has now. This world is violent, filled with people with evil intent to kill those oppose their political and religious ideologies. DJizzy said, “I cannot believe people don’t think this is a religious war and will be fought to the death - whether we choose it or not.” This is the fundamental fact and basis of what is fueling the Radical Islamic Fascist unholy war they are waging against people who want to be free to choose their own destiny and enjoy freedom that this country takes for granted.
Thomas Jefferson said, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” Liberty isn’t free. No other country on this planet knows it better than those American Servicemen and women who have given their lives in defense of this country and those who want to enjoy what is a God given right—Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness…in other words, Freedom.

I see you finally lowered yourself of your pedistal. You actually asked a question.
Now, when you grow up enough to ask a question that does not praise and slander the same time we might begin to believe that you are “”different from any other Lib we know”".
For now, we still know you as:

Actually TJ there are far more MUCH MORE terrorists today since US invaded Iraq.
In fact evertime a US bomb explodes more young terrorists are created.
Where were all these “terrorists” during Vietnam war….WW2….Civil War…Contras war in Lat Am….

The first time you refer to polls in an argument you prove you are a mindless sheep waiting to be told how to live.
Polls are created to give a pre determined response based on human psychology and then released as facts. And people like you, who are unable to think for themselves then wrap themselves in that bullshit.
I only see the leftists/fascists on this board ever refer to polls as a defense of their opinion. The powers that need you to be one of a many useful idiots own your ass.
Maybe you would be more comfortable in a nice Paris suburb.
or maybe find a flat in Denmark:
or discuss this with another movie executive like Mr. Van Gogh:
Yea go to Europe and tell us how great it is as you hide any evidence of your American citizenship so you don’t offend those that own your punk ass.
April 27th, 2007 at 3:50 amCheers to Pat and his kickass website. My nephew is in 1/6, Charlie Co. and his name is Tom. I want to thank you for having this website and I’ll front some ca$h because you are letting me see inside what my nephew is up against. Keep the T-shirt as I’ll not be able to receive it here in India where I am working. Harry Reid needs to go to his retirement job of dildo taste tester, he gets them right after the homos to the ass fitment test. God bless all of you guys!
April 27th, 2007 at 4:18 amFriends: in order to maintain sanity and allow for more efficient communication, I’ve decided I will no longer post in any story other than the one at the top of the page. It takes too long to sort through all these comments now-adays, so if I’ve got something to say (even about another story), or if you want to say something to me, (such as remember to wear “buddy armor” when you fuck that lawyer friend of yours) post it under the top story.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:03 amIt’s amazing what you’re doing. All that s*** you have to wear in that heat. If I’d of had to do that in Vietnam I’d have collapsed, at least I could just wear a t-shirt. I tried one day with an M60, I kept falling over. I was better suited to a PRC-25, I felt balanced. Brings to mind un-balanced. As I mentioned before I went to The Gathering of Eagles counter-demonstration in DC 17 March. I made it a point to walk around both camps and even went up to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to get a bit of an aerial. Both sides, as well as I could see were equally represented. The following morning one of the local television stations 6ABC here in Philadelphia reported the demonstration. Thousands demonstrating against the war and it came off as an ‘oh, by the way’, some veterans also showed up. Some veterans? I s*** you not. Don’t let it discourage you. Thank you for working in the psychotic saltlick you’re in, better to kill them over there instead of over here. But, isn’t that the reason we have a military. Hello, democrats, anybody in there?
April 27th, 2007 at 5:12 amOK Devil Dogs, everybody keep up the good work! Look after one another and kick some serious ass. Pat, you are the man! Cpl Rock, you and your boys are growing up fast. I am so proud of you Marines!!

wrong gramps they were stabbing the troops in the back before the Panama “invasion”
and the reporting tone about the grenada wasn’t favorable [you know the disdain smirk when reporting anything about the military]
April 27th, 2007 at 5:20 amSteve,
But the right wing/pro war crowd refer to polls when it suits their convenience.
How many times we heard in 1991 that 88% backed Bush 41 when he invaded Kuwait to get Iraq out??
Or right adfter 9/11 80% supported W Bush.
So if the polls wewre important then & accurate then, they s/b used today and referred to today.
Today there are so many polls showing W Bush’s favorability rating at 26-33% and nearly 70% (sometimes higer) of the American people want US troops home.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:22 amAdmittedly only 30% want US troops home NOW. But the other 40% or so want them home in 12 months.
A guess about 20% of Americans want to keep the troops in Iraq for several more years.
On average 10% say “dont know”…this 10% is the people the anti war movement must continue to work at reaching.
Steve in NC~
HH: The quote from the Romney speech in New York, “What Jimmy Carter fails to understand is what so many fail to understand, whether it is Hamas or Hezbollah or al Qaeda, there’s an overarching goal among the violent jihadist that transcends borders and boundaries. That goal is to replace all modern Islamic states with a caliphate, to destroy Israel, to cause the collapse of the West and the United States, and to conquer the world.” Is he correct, Mark Steyn?
MS: Yes, and you can see, it’s not hard, you can do a couple of minutes Googling, and you’ll find maps of the caliphate that show, for example, Northern Australia as part of the Muslim world. You know, the have a very ambitious agenda, and simply put, if you’re like those Taliban guys, and you’re looking at the English language newspaper in Kabul, it makes sense. It seems achievable. When you watch Harry Reid on CNN International, like these people do, it seems within your grasp.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:33 amDenise–polls are used in place of real reporting and to promote an agenda. Your rationalizations for taking them seriously don’t hold up.
“In fact evertime a US bomb explodes more young terrorists are created”???? WTF? That’s delusional! We have no right to defend ourselves, b/c it’ll make them mad. The exact opposite is true.
In fact, Denise, everytime a US bomb explodes more young potential terrorists decide jihad is bullshit.

Polls were not accurate then, and then only important to sheep.
You are apparently unable to think independently and must go along with the rest of the lemmings to find comfort in thought.
Right is right, regardless of contrived polls.
Bush has repeatedly stated that he was not interested in poll data in deciding what actions he would do.
Bush is the disciplinary father you never had, not concerned with peer pressure from your friends but trying to guide you to do what is right.
Try to think independently.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:39 amDenis, you really have to get out of your parent’s basement and get some fresh air. You’re being a silly person, oh, my God.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:41 amhey denis,
what have you done for your country
today or anyday
i think you a communist
April 27th, 2007 at 5:41 amBlaming the American military for terrorists is like blaming police for crimminals. The American military makes terrorists be terrorists. Police make crimminals be crimminals. If police would just stop arresting crimminals there would be no crimminals. Yea, right.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:47 am“Actually TJ there are far more MUCH MORE terrorists today since US invaded Iraq.”
Did you get that directly from al-qaeda headquarters. Do you have any idea how polls and propaganda from the US and terrorists are meant to inform or even mislead? You and I will never know if there are more terrorists or not. With your statement “there are more terrorrists” there also more gung ho patriots willing to go and fight them..
“In fact evertime a US bomb explodes more young terrorists are created.”
So if we sat at the table of peace and joy and tried to meet their demands, would they love us and leave us alone then? Read the quran and hadith , dipshit and maybe you will truly understand.
“Where were all these “terrorists” during Vietnam war….WW2….Civil War…Contras war in Lat Am….
seems US must ALWAYS have an enemy out there.”
they were recruiting and building up their arsenal, they were fighting each other, and fighting with the nazi’s.(google grand mufti of jerusalem, nazis)they were making converts to join the global jihad. they were preparing, just as we prepare everyday for fanatics such as these.
“War is a very profitable business!!!”
so is race baiting, so is the carbon offset business, so is tyranny!so is jihad!
“Europoean press polls show 75% of Iraq want US troops ou…r they ALL terrorists?”
And how did they take this poll? Do you think iraqis know that the european press sympathizes with terrorism? is it possible when a poll is taken the pollee says what the poller wants to hear?
Heres a poll you can understand: despite the overwhelming knowledge of shiites and kurds that saddam disdained them, killed their relatives and friends regularly, tortured and or scarred them for life, as a MAJORITY of the population , they went to the POllS during each election and overwhelmingly voted for Saddam.(iraq was a democracy) (note:no one ran against him, those who oppssed him were killed or disappeared) the politics of fear rule the day, and as long as alqaeda and other terrorists are in Iraq, you will never know what Iraqis are thinking.
so we will go on fighting for the iraqis to have the right to speak their mind without fear of reprisals.
this is what sepaartes us from the jihadi’s
April 27th, 2007 at 6:01 amDenis,

April 27th, 2007 at 6:32 amIs this what’s coming to the US of A?
AMSTERDAM, 27/04/07 - A school in Amsterdam has halted lessons on rural life because the Islamic children refused to talk about pigs. Reporting this, Alderman Lodewijk Asscher said he wants to take “tough measures.” Subsidies for all kinds of dubious groups must stop and parents of unruly children penalised financially.
Asscher told newspaper De Volkskrant: “A primary school in Amsterdam-Noord has decided no longer to teach about living on a farm. Various pupils began to demolish the classroom when the pig came up for discussion. Apparently it has gone that far. These children, 9, 10 years old, have not been given even the most elementary rules at home about why they must go to school.”
April 27th, 2007 at 7:03 amthat’s it. when i have kids i’m home schooling ‘em.
if this is what is to be expected then we are truley screwed. since when did education become politically correct?
April 27th, 2007 at 7:08 amGramps,
Please post the link for that story?
Thanks,
Maggie
April 27th, 2007 at 7:08 amDenis,
I seem to recall that you like polls. Try this one on for size.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has fallen from a 38 percent positive rating in February to 30 percent positive now. Well over half (56%) of adults currently view her job performance in a negative light, compared to just 45 percent who did so in February. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has also dropped. In February, 23 percent viewed him positively while 47 percent viewed his job performance negatively. Currently, over half (52%) see his job performance in a negative light while just 22 percent gives it positive ratings.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:12 amJewish, that vid brought tears to my eyes. I passed the link on to some friends.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:12 am“”they say we are the ignorant ones that have nothing better to do in life than join the military.”"
Ignorant, no. Not for the most part anyway I think. Tellya what though, I can only think of one more thing better to do in life than serve your country, and that’s your family.
So I guess I kinda agree with the assholes. Imagine that.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:14 amMaggie,
It came from LGF
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=25265_Religious_Apartheid_with_Porn&only
April 27th, 2007 at 7:16 amGramps, that is fucking hilarious. Nine-year-olds demolishing a classroom? Sounds snooty to me! Give them an inch, they’ll take a hoof. It seems like the Amsterdam school system has gone belly up–perhaps too much pork in their legislation? I’m just giving them a good ribbing.
If I had a mob of pissy-little Muzzies trashing my class room, I’d beat the shit out of them. No Jewish supermarket worker ever whined about handling non-kosher food.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:21 amMO–political correctness started becoming widespread (think of it as a zombie invasion) in the 1970’s, from college on down. Also see “the self-esteem movement.”
Yeah, starkc, I have to agree those people too that I’m truly ignorant. In fact, the only thing I know how to read is the menu at McDonalds! But I’m just kidding, I don’t really know how to read that, I just point at the pretty colored pictures and grunt until I get what I want. Then I go poop in the sink and go home to my cave.
Oog-oog, Big Mac GOOD!
April 27th, 2007 at 7:25 ammake no mistke, there is more than a coincedence b/w poor education & democrats.
i live in louisiana. we are nationally reknown for its corrupt politicians (huey p. long, edwin edwards (who is in prision and could probably get elected if he decided to run again)). also, our public school system is horrendous. like i alsways say: “you keep the mass dumb and they can’t challenge your authority!”
April 27th, 2007 at 7:33 ami meant “masses.”
April 27th, 2007 at 7:34 amDenis - “Actually TJ there are far more MUCH MORE terrorists today since US invaded Iraq. In fact evertime a US bomb explodes more young terrorists are created.”
Wow, you won’t give the US credit for doing anything good but you sure as hell will give them credit for doing some bad even if you have to make it up. How do you know there are more terrorists now than there was before the US told Iraq we were coming over there? Give me proof.
So, you’re saying these bombs we are dropping have fertilized embryos in them and when they explode they grow into terrorists in a matter of minutes?
75%, huh? Where is this poll? I would like to read it. I always read the statistics on how, where, and by whom the poll was taken and the actual number of people polled. That will tell you the motivation behind the poll. 83.2% of people know this.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:35 amDennis
Steve is right. Polls are almost always bias (skewed) ….and worse, the results are editorialized by so-called reporters before you even hear them.
You, DenisDrivel, will not believe this because you are ONLY a blind follower, so….. I write this not just to you but to ALL THOSE WHO GET FRUSTRATED WITH POLLS.
I’ve had lots of fun experimenting and I can assure you….
1- I could design a survey (poll) that will support anything I want you to believe.
2- It is very very very difficult to develop questions that are not leading or bias
3- I can do everything right and screw up in the population that I poll. The Pollster’s do not correct for this. Example: Asking a political question with 60% of respondents being liberals…… or similar.
Most of the polls you hear are screwed up because there is no VALIDATION of the population that polsters poll.
Most of the polls have questions that are bias. Questions that are Yes /No answers are 95% bias unless the question is restated multiple times in different ways!
Many of the polls have entrapment questions.
Example:
Do you want the troops out of Iraq? Many will answer yes, HOWEVER polsters do not followup with clarification questions like:
Do you thnik the troops can leave next year? Many will answer no, But they are never asked.
I could go on,
My point is:
1- Never accept a poll on results only. I assure you ..conclusions from results alone are invalid.
2- Never accept a reporter’s claim of polls unless they reference the pollster AND you go to the Pollster and view both the questions and the population stats.
In the end, you still need to make yor personal assessment to the validity of the poll.

Fucking awesome stuff here. The people need to hear this, not the anti-war bullshit you get from some middle class penpusher behind a big desk!

April 27th, 2007 at 7:40 amwhen i took statistics in college we learned how to create a biased poll. you just give the sample participants a %.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:42 amrather than a ratio.
i could take a poll saying that 80% of surveyed people say that all democrats are really displaced communist. what i would be leaving out is that i only suveyed 5 people.

Denis,
We’re all trying to help you out here.
Think of it as an “intervention”, or “de-programming”. You’re addicted to the leftist mind-control machine.
MO,
Love the Andrew Lang quote.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:52 amGramps,
Please post the link for that story?
I tried to post it, but for some reason the site is not getting it. Go to LGF it’s over there.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:54 amJohn in PA - “Example: Do you want the troops out of Iraq? Many will answer yes, HOWEVER polsters do not followup with clarification questions like: Do you thnik the troops can leave next year? Many will answer no, But they are never asked.”
John, excellent example. I will add that nearly everyone would reply “yes” to the first question. We ALL want the troops to come home, but the question would be skewed into the people replying mean they want them to come home right now no matter what.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:57 am@Denis -
“Today there are so many polls showing W Bush’s favorability rating at 26-33% and nearly 70% (sometimes higer) of the American people want US troops home.
Admittedly only 30% want US troops home NOW. But the other 40% or so want them home in 12 months.
A guess about 20% of Americans want to keep the troops in Iraq for several more years.
On average 10% say “dont know”…this 10% is the people the anti war movement must continue to work at reaching”
Argumentum ad numerum (argument or appeal to numbers). This fallacy is the attempt to prove something by showing how many people think that it’s true. But no matter how many people believe something, that doesn’t necessarily make it true or right. Example: “At least 70% of all Americans support access to abortions.” Well, maybe 70% of Americans are wrong!
This fallacy is very similar to argumentum ad populum, the appeal to the people or to popularity. When a distinction is made between the two, ad populum is construed narrowly to designate an appeal to the opinions of people in the immediate vicinity, perhaps in hope of getting others (such as judges) to jump on the bandwagon, whereas ad numerum is used to designate appeals based purely on the number of people who hold a particular belief. The distinction is a fine one, and in general the terms can be used interchangeably in debate rounds. (I’ve found that ad populum has better rhetorical effect.)
Argumentum ad populum (argument or appeal to the public). This is the fallacy of trying to prove something by showing that the public agrees with you. For an example, see above. This fallacy is nearly identical to argumentum ad numerum, which you should see for more details.
Polls mean nothing in whether the war is right, whether we should bring the troops home, etc.
April 27th, 2007 at 8:14 amTry reading Joe Lieberman’s statement on the senate floor yesterday regarding why we should NOT be bringing the troops home or limiting their mission right now. Very clear and cogent…

April 27th, 2007 at 8:17 amThanks for the rathergate.com site, and especially the Andrew lang quote.
@thepointyend - That is way too complicated for Denis. Let me offer a much simpler example of why polls don’t necessarily mean something is correct.
Say you have one hundred people standing in a room debating what the moon is made of. Ninety nine people say it is made of green cheese. One person says it is not. Who is correct? If you believe polls, meaning decisions based on consensus, then the moon is obviously made of green cheese.

Okay, I stopped reading the posts after the first few…so excuse me if I missed a pertinent point…
How do we get Cpl Rock and others in Iraq, ’stan and other places more publicity? How do we get the word out efficiently and effectively?
However much fun it is to call a liberal a douche bag (and Rumsfeld47 raises it to an artform) I want this discussion to leave the dark corners of the ‘bar’ and flood outwards into the public.
MANY more people than just us need to hear people like Cpl Rock

@thepointyend linked to Joe Lieberman’s statement on the senate …..
Leiberman calls Douchebag Reid on idiocy…. plan makes no sense to fight AlQeda without intel from the population. Cant get intel form population when barricaded and removed from the population.
On the 2nd page where he makes EVERY DIMOCRAT an idiot when he says they want the same old shit that they pisses and moaned about 5 months ago.
Leiberman says:
“What is going on here? What has changed so that the strategy that we criticized and rejected in 2006 suddenly makes sense in 2007?
Lots more after that. I like Leibermans courage to speak his mind on security.
April 27th, 2007 at 8:49 amtim,
i couldn’t agree with you more. we need to mobilize. how do we do it. massive ad campaign?
i got it. we send out vid cameras to our boys in the field to archive their heroic and humanitarian actions.
we need to flood the internet with footage to show america that iraqi freedom is more important than certain libs getting elected.
most important is that we show the broken commitment on the part of the libs and how iraq will one day resent us for abandoning them.

1. There is no louder media bullhorn in the world than DrudgeReport.com. Every journalist in America checks it at least twice a day; they regard it as their secondary copy-editor.
2. The issue is not getting the word out–the word is there, but the pussies don’t want to hear it.
3. We cannot hope to change hearts and minds; we can only encourage the silent majority to sound the fuck off. This site is a good place for that. The leftists are much, much louder than we are–that is what needs to change.
4. We need principled Republicans to run for office, because the silent majority will sit on their silent fat asses in November if they don’t have good people to vote for.
5. Good luck finding principled politicians. I support Fred Thompson.

” Sunni struggle claims 4th Fallujah chief
By SINAN SALAHEDDIN, Associated Press WriterSat Apr 21, 7:19 PM ET
The Fallujah city council chairman, a critic of al-Qaida who took the job after his three predecessors were assassinated, was killed on Saturday, the latest blow in a violent internal Sunni struggle for control of an insurgent stronghold west of Baghdad.
In the capital, U.S. and Iraqi officials defended plans to build a barrier around a Sunni enclave to protect its inhabitants from surrounding Shiite areas, while residents expressed concern it would isolate the community.
Sami Abdul-Amir al-Jumaili was gunned down by attackers in a passing car as he was walking outside his home in central Fallujah, 40 miles west of Baghdad, according to police.
His assassination came a month after he agreed to take the dangerous job — the only person willing to do so — with promises to improve services and work with the Americans to ease traffic-clogging checkpoints in the city with a population of an estimated 150,000 to 200,000.
The 65-year-old Sunni sheik was the fourth city council chairman to be killed in some 14 months as insurgents target fellow Sunnis willing to cooperate with the U.S. and its Iraqi partners. Abdul-Amir’s predecessor, Abbas Ali Hussein, who was shot to death on Feb. 2.
Both men were strong critics of al-Qaida in Iraq, which is battling a growing number of Sunni tribes that have turned against it in the vast Anbar province — a center for anti-U.S. guerrillas since the uprising in Fallujah in 2004 that galvanized the insurgency.
U.S. officials say tribal leaders and even some other insurgents are increasingly repelled by the group’s brutality and religious extremism. The tribes also are competing with al-Qaida for influence and control over diminishing territory in the face of U.S. assaults.
The U.S. military confirmed the killing, and provincial officials condemned it.
“He was one of the many good people of the province who worked to help the city of Fallujah rebuild and regain life,” the provincial government said in a statement. “This murder was a crime against all of the citizens of Iraq. We again strongly condemn this cowardly back-stabbing act.”
Fellow councilmen and neighbors said Abdul-Amir had run for the office before and ignored pleas from friends not to take the job.
Gunmen also broke into the home of Najim Abdullah Suod, the city council chief who preceded Hussein, killing the lawyer and his 23-year-old son on Sept. 24, 2006, while Sheik Kamal Nazal, a cleric, was gunned down as he walked to work on Feb. 7, 2006.
The attack occurred despite U.S. optimism about efforts to tame Anbar, a vast desert area that borders Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, as alliances have been struck with influential Sunni sheiks once arrayed against American-led forces.”

We CAN NOT hope? At the end of the Civil War (the one in ‘65) we had to hope to bring the Country back together.
Don’t take this as disagreement or ‘giving in’. I am, at one level, a teacher and just blowing off large parts of country because ‘we’ find their politics disagreeable is tantamount to leaving fellow troops on the field of battle.
WE NEED to do more than hope to change their minds. If what we are talking about here is the truth, the future of our country DEPENDS on that hope.
However much you like the Confederate Flag, if the South was still separate would this Country be the same if those wounds weren’t healed?
Sure, the confederate flag is still found in the South but so is the American one.
I HOPE we can change hearts and minds. If what is being posted here is the truth then we must do more than hope.

My current journey is to learn the answer to the very question you pose.
ACTION: I hope to attend a Support The Troops rally organized by WHP580 AM in PA in a few days. If I am able to attend, I will be putting together a flyer referencing a few sites including Pat’s.
My assessment thus far says that a grassroots motivation must be a core part, but its not the only thing.
I believe in action now! Yes I am studying bit by bit, but action is the only thing that works. The only action i can come up with is to share about pats site with as many people as I can.
The Liberal talking machine has big big money behind it. There will be no defeatist attitude here! This is merely a good challenge.
I’ve concluded: Democrats must go and the way to do it is to collect their record and let that speak for us.
Lots of challenges - lots of fun

One of the reasons conservatives are so splintered is because we have principles. Example: Certain issues like right to life can make many conservatives into non voters.
The left have no principles. They all just go with the flow.
In net analysis, given equal quantities of libs & cons the libs will have more votes.
I have an idea to adress this, but it becomes complicated, so its not a plan yet…

You’re an idiot. By your definition/standards, a person can’t do the following:
1. Support or talk about child education unless they have kids or are a teacher.
2. Support or talk about efforts to stop crime unless they have been robbed or are a cop.
3. Support or talk about cancer research unless they have cancer or did the research.
I could list about 10,000 other examples, but I think I made my point. Go crawl back into that 10×10 room in your mom’s basement, turn off the VH1 “Where are they now” re-runs, pick up a book or 12 and educate yourself.

With Dragon Valley just a few clicks west of the ridgeline their was no room for error.
Dragon Valley was was better known to us grunts as the Hanoi Highway. It was an evil piece of land.Every war has one. It was the main supply line from Hanoi. It was well traveled and no myth about it. On a normal night it was dark, dark like I’ve never experienced. You couldn’t see your hand an inch from your face, you listened for other breathing to determine how far away your buddy was and more important was the breathing your buddies. Your comfort was measured by the continuous adrenalin rushing through your body.
When we ca’d out of Firebase Fat City the day before we knew exactally where we were headed. Fat City was home of the 25th inf division based in Chu Lai, Vietnam.
Cautious little eyes peered slivers of hooch with guarded anticipation. One by one little kids began walking into the open. We were the cautious ones now. Any of them could be wired with hand grenades or c4. We signaled them to stop. They knew what to do and immediately shed their clothing. We prayed none of them began running toward our position. Running towards us fully clothed was a sure death sentence.
We assembled the kids and waited for the elders. The elders began coming into the open as we set up a perimeter. Many looked bloodied, brused and had been crying heavily. Several appeared needing immediate medical attention. The previous week was a long and hard for these villagers. The enemy, VC,NVA,some Chinese and Russians had entered their village. We always found fat chinese and red headed Russians after a firefight. They beat the elders, raped the girls killed the mayor, council members and adult males that didn’t get away in time. Any boys ten and older were taken to join their army. Any adult to age 70 would be executed in the center of the village. Any crippled males would also be executed. We’ve seen this scene many times.
While other GI’s passed out c-rations, water and chewing gum doc would begin treating the walking wounded. As the RTO I called in dust-off’s. The number of wounded sometimes called for two or three dust-off at a time. As injured and frightened as some of the villagers were they fought like mad not to get on those flying machines. Many never saw a chopper up close let alone get the hell on one.
As the comfort level rose between us and the villagers an old woman made us tea. Whatever wasn’t taken or consumed by the enemy they offered to us. A look of relief came over the villagers as we set up our night perimeter. They knew we were staying to protect them from their night time horrors. They knew once we were in their area we would always be near. Or so they thought. We made many friends. Their men would come back soon. No matter how meger a simple lifestyle they had we were giving them some resembalance of their normal life. They were greatful beyond expression. They were thankful beyond need. We were gratified beyond belief knowing giving this small level of humanity was so greatly appreciated.
In our own little way, far, far from home we knew why were in Vietnam. We heard the cries of peace from the homefront. We also heard the cries from the villages. One village at a time. We understood why were their. We didn’t understand why the rest of America couldn’t. Perhaps if all the Iraq nay-sayers could experience a moment of time in a grunts boot when that real American compassion erupts they’ed understand.
Somehow I don’t think they’ll never experience that level of simple compassion. A great evil is going to be repeated. I hope they can live with themselves.
