The Salvation Army Smacks Down Al Qaeda
The most recent bloody drama playing out in Iraq, the Al Qaeda Apocalypse, took another stunning turn today as various Iraqi Government officials announced they had “full intelligence” that Abu Ayuub Al Masri, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, was killed. In the earliest reports, the Government indicated that Al Masri had been killed by rival elements within Al Qaeda itself. However, latest intelligence reports from some media outlets, and from my own sources on the ground, indicate that it is most likely that he was in fact killed by Al Anbar-based Sunni militia loyal to the U.S. One group, the Salvation Army of Iraq, has stepped forward and actually laid claim to the killing.
To those following this website, this will read as the latest twist in a breathtaking storyline unfolding as an apocalyptic showdown between Al Qaeda and the forces of stability in Iraq. Weeks back, ( when no one else was paying attention ) I reported that Saudi Arabia had literally paid the most powerful tribe in Al Anbar, the Jaburs, to ally with the U.S. in a campaign to eject Al Qaeda from their homebase of Al Anbar. This, along with the re-integration of Baathist officers into the military, was a key element of Patraeus’s surge plan. I then reported that other Al Anbar Sunni tribes joined us in the fight, especially after Al Qaeda began indiscriminate campaigns of mayhem that were victimizing large numbers of civilians. In a stunning sweep of victories, Al Qaeda was forced out of Anbar within weeks.
Down, but not out, Al Qaeda launched a typically horrific series of massive suicide bombings in their new Baghdad surroundings. This counteroffensive was crucial to both their public image and their objective of making the surge seem lost. To the forces of chaos, the enire war is a P.R. war. The bombings took out major bridges in Baghdad, slaughtered hundreds of civilians, and came close to wiping out major Shiite shrines in hopes of igniting full fledged civil war. The whole civil war myth, created primarily by the leaders and media agents of the American Left, gained momentum when Al Qaeda blew up a Shiite shrine last year, hoping that the Shiites would in fact blame local Sunnis instead of Al Qaeda. It was a fake-out that did in fact inflame sectarian tensions, but in no way ignited a true civil war. However, in one of the most disturbing turn of events in the history of this conflict, the Democrats were more than happy to take Al Qaeda’s bait, and in fact did their work for them. Not waiting for a civil war to erupt as a result of the bombings, the Democrats simply declared that it was already happening, strictly as a matter of domestic political expedience. Such attempts to convince both the Iraqis and the Americans that Iraq was in the thralls of such a civil war was both unhelpful to the situation in Iraq, and outside of the bounds of any morally acceptable behavior.
As Iraq was reeling from this latest bombing campaign, as General Petraeus suddenly labelled Al Qaeda public enemy #1 in Iraq, both U.S. forces and our new Sunni Allies kept up the battle and kept up the hunt.
Today the Salvation Army announced it had delivered a devestating blow to Al Qaeda.
Keep in mind that Al Masri’s death has been announced before. Fingerprint and DNA tests should clear this up shortly.
Let’s see what’s next.
Just heard from Sky News that we killed AQ’s leader in Iraq!!! Way to go boys!! Once again the only US channel to show us the truth is you Pat, Thanks for ALL!

WHO’S NEXT?!
May 1st, 2007 at 3:56 amYeah, my heart was lifted on seeing this for about two seconds. Not to double post, but I want everyone to read this:
I spoke too soon. Something needs to be waived, because I did it three more times than allowed. There is no need to specify what it is, so don’t.
I have never had such an emotional roller coaster of a day.
I did 2.5 pull-ups, good to go. Running is better than ever. Got a little taste of IT; I thought I knew what pain was. Wore sweats and undershirt in the 94 degree St. Louis sun, because I’m trying to get hard. Did I mention I got a 99 ASVAB, 116 DLAB, and 3 years of college under my belt? That I’ve squared away everything there is to square away?
I want to know the principle that dictates that if you say you did something only five times, it’s okay, but if you say you did something eight times because someone whose job it is to know better told you to, it’s not okay.
Their honor smells like dog shit right now.
The prospects of waiving are not promising (read PROBABLY TOTALLY FUCKED). Of course, I’ve been an angel in the DEP, except for posting here.
Oh, and I’ve lost 21 pounds in less than 2 months–and that shit was all self-motivated. I suppose that’s not worth anything.
Inconsolable would be the word of the night. Pray, people, that whatever officer looks at this doesn’t have his head so far up his fucking ass that… well, let’s just say I hope he got his dick sucked on the way to work.
I guess they have all the Arabic translators they need, huh?
May 1st, 2007 at 4:52 amThe Salvation Army? From food drives to drive by’s. I heard those fools are crazy!
May 1st, 2007 at 5:04 amrot in hell, who’s next fookers
May 1st, 2007 at 5:06 amThanks for the story Pat. This helps to further prove that the surge is working, as the terrorists are starting to fight over control of their shrinking forces. I wonder what they were fighting over, to try for a few last attacks before they are wiped out, or if they should try to go into hiding to avoid being turned in by Iraqis, or if they should try to negotiate with the IA and US forces, as so many are now doing.
Pat hit the nail on the head, the elected Democrat officials will be trying to hide their sadness at this. They have lost another one of the MSM and liberals facists allies in their war against conservatism and true American values. Who will Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Iran and Syria chose at their next stratgey meeting as the new leader of AQ? Maybe Pelosi and Reid will have to get on the hotline to OBL to chose the new leader.
I just wonder when the traitors will dispose of all pretenses, and just submit several names of key democrats to be the new leaders of Al Qaeda.
May 1st, 2007 at 5:22 amRummy, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you to get that waiver. I know the Corps has a history of shafting people, but I also know that recruiters usually have ways to ensure the waivers are received especially if their goal is on the line. I worked in a recruiting office for 1 1/2 years, so there are ways to get things done. You haven’t even shipped out, I hope they do nto decide to screw you, as you have shown the drive of a Marine by losing the weight and getting your civvie ass in shape. Your recruiter should know who the officer is that considers the waivers, and work on your behalf to get that secured.
Semper Fi
May 1st, 2007 at 5:29 amAnother one bites the dust. Perfect timing to shove it to Congress too. How do you like them apples bitch? Watch the left slow the bill down so Prez can’t veto it today.
Rummy, keep fighting for a waiver. Everything will pan out in the end. There’s nothing worse than getting boned with bad gauge; in fact, I think I’d rather take a kick to the nuts. With a little grease and a little luck you’ll get that waiver. Last I checked, the Marine Corps wasn’t about to materialize 76,000 Marines out of their ass, so keep your head up. I’ll pray for ya.
May 1st, 2007 at 5:32 amEZ
You’re right the traitors waited to deliver the bill today intentionally - Fox News. 4 years from mission accomplished honor cerimony.
When will the all the Idiots realize that mission is not a goal. Mission is only one step along the path to the goal. DUM-SHITS.
WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT TO CALL THE DEMS “”UNPATRIOTIC”"? WHY IS THIS TERM SO OFF LIMITS? ITS AN UNDERSTATEMENT BUT ITS STILL TABOO!!
Rummy, i don’t get it. Can’t read btwn lines, so I’ll just hope and pray you get past whatever this shit is and succeed.
May 1st, 2007 at 6:00 amI went out with Mary Jane three too many times, which means we weren’t just “experimenting,” we were “fucking like crazed rabbits.”

May 1st, 2007 at 6:33 amOkay, benn out awhile.
What’s Eating Rummy?
And I actually heard that Masri was killed by bounty hunters. (5 million on this sucker’s head)
May 1st, 2007 at 6:55 amMatt, it looks outstanding. I’ve done a lot of research, talked to a lot of Marines; I’d love to have your book, but unless you were to overnight it to my ass, I’m not sure I’d get it in time. Hit me back real quick, would ja?
May 1st, 2007 at 6:56 amGood to go, I didn’t feel like actually reading your site… Yeah, I’m freakin’ interested.
Perhaps a discount would be appropriate–you can send an email to We’ll work it out, good to go? Looks very valuable… And you got me out of my “fuck this shit” mentality about this MOS bullshit.
(I’ve done some research, and apparently, the USMC desperately needs linguists. Wonder if I offer to sign a longer contract if they’d let me in…)
May 1st, 2007 at 7:06 amI bet the “keystone cops” (the dummy-crats) are realing from this news.
Al Masri, burn in hell you freeking bitch.I wish I could piss on your discracefull dead carcass.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:08 amJust thought I’d add this…From Brit Hume @ Fox news…Something encouraging…How do we get those white feathers again?
“Some congressional Republicans who have broken ranks with the president over the Iraq war are finding it to be far riskier than national opinion polls might suggest. The Washington Post reports Maryland’s Wayne Gilchrest — a Marine who saw combat in Vietnam — and who voted for the war funding bill with the troop withdrawal timetable — has been called a coward and a traitor during town hall meetings back in his district.
And constituents in Bob Inglis’ South Carolina home district were so furious after he voted for the non-binding resolution opposing the president’s troop surge — that local GOP officials are considering an effort to find a primary challenger for the next election. Inglis apparently got the message — he voted against the bill with the troop withdrawal timetable.”
May 1st, 2007 at 8:10 amRummy, don’t despair. When I enlisted I needed a waiver for my police record. It was denied, but the OIC of the recruiting station took a liking to me, and knew someone in HQ that owed him a favor. The second waiver was approved. Best damn thing that ever happened to me.
Best of luck my friend.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:30 amGood news Pat. Keep it coming.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:31 amKeep it up, G.I.s! Al-Qaeda is getting pwned! Ooh-rah!
May 1st, 2007 at 9:24 amPat, you called this one. Hope there’s more to come.
May 1st, 2007 at 10:02 amStarkc, if you want to know what’s eating me, click on “comment states” below the main article, scroll down to my name (it’s at the top), click on it and read my last few posts until it’s clear.
I wish to say nothing further about it at the moment.

He can date, cook, listen to Classical Music and do pull ups (like any toddler =-)) but can he shoot?
Been to the range, Rumsfeld47?
Apparently so people in Iraq have…

Command Private Major
(and whatever you do, no matter how close the DI gets to your face or how loud he yells (actually, Sgt Moi was a female DI but that’s Army)…never actually wipe (with your hand) the smile off your face)
May 1st, 2007 at 10:25 amI didn’t know there was another kind of Salvation Army. Seriously, I’ll have to give Saudi Arabia more props.
Rummy, I’ve been out of the loop for a few days. What’s going on? Is the Corps considering not taking you because of fitness? Chosen line? Both?
May 1st, 2007 at 10:27 amWTF
May 1st, 2007 at 11:12 amhey rumsfield you could always join the army like me. They do not care how many times you smoke weed as long as you say its been a while. I think now you can tell them you snorted coke as long as it has been over 5 years or something. Army is the only branch I know of that really doesn’t give a shit what you do beforehand. Hell i knew a guy that got busted for smoking pot twice on piss tests and was a pfc for the third time. I think they even got some shit a recruiter was telling me about the other day called from high school to flight school where you can sign up and get guarenteed helicopter warrent if you get a certain score on your GT and sign up for 6 years. Always an option though dude if your lookin to serve somewhere.
May 1st, 2007 at 11:47 amI think you might be able to write your congressman too rumsfield, i called them to get money from the VA and within a week i had 6500 dollars in back pay. they seem to have a way to get things done and could probably produce a waiver if there is any hope of gettin one. they like doing that shit cause then they know your going to vote for them.
May 1st, 2007 at 11:51 amDoes anyone else find it humorous that he was killed by the ’salvation army’…?
May 1st, 2007 at 3:43 pmRumsfeld-
Email sent
May 1st, 2007 at 4:51 pmsalvation army is a copywrite violation I believe. they better watchout or they might get sued.
Rumsfeld47,
write congressman to appeal for the waiver. it worked for me. mostly, as is the case in america in general, if you really want something, persistence pays. the marines need persistent people who take failure as an incentive rather than a permanent rebuke.
keep fighting. it makes the marines what they are!
May 2nd, 2007 at 6:10 am[…] the political repercussions of their reprehensible behavior hits them is almost palpable. In Iraq, al Qaeda is on the ropes as many milbloggers have pointed out, because their nominal Sunni allies are finally turning […]
