Petraeus: “Somebody’s given us the names of all the guys who did it.”
After supposedly detaining up to 900 people ( now there’s a stat that bears some explaining - - but keep in mind, a broad, low-tech, rural search like this, in an absence of modern investigative and detainment facilities, in a land with little electricity, keeping stats on a search like this, is well, you get it…), finding severed heads, more battles with insurgents, and 9 people just taken into custody from a tip, the expanding opera of this search for our kidnapped servicemen has allegedy yielded a uniform which may be identifiable as belonging to one of the soldiers. There was also a rumor floating around the web this morning that the solodiers had been found, but the Army strongly denies this. More as it develops…

Sidenote: World’s Biggest Embassy
Let’s hope that if the uniform is ours that we find our guys soon…
May 19th, 2007 at 8:07 amBTW if Iran says something, do the opposite.
I am glad you are keeping us informed. I don’t personally know any of the dead or missing in this attack–but I have been waiting, watching, and praying. I take it very personal. The deaths of the 4 soldiers saddens me–I hurt for the families. I wander how they felt as they faced one of my biggest fears—getting the knock on the door and seeing a gov’t vehicle parked outside. I cannot imagine what the families of the missing are going through—I worry about the missing and what they have or are going through. I just keep praying for them. I don’t know what else to do.
May 19th, 2007 at 8:37 amI am so proud of our Soldiers and Marines–I am so thankful for what they do for us…what they sacrifice for us—their family, friends, and countrymen–every day.
I read a report that talked a little about the Soldiers who died in the attack. Spec. Daniel Courneya had just gotten a new baseball cap in the mail. He must have really liked it, because the fact was mentioned several times by his comrades. It reminds me of how much my husband loves his packages. How what some might think are the most mundane objects mean the most. My husband’s “prized” possesions over there are his Michigan baseball cap we sent for his birthday, 3 baby food jars with soil from our land, and a pillowcase that I slept on then sent to him. Now granted those are very personal gifts—but I can’t emphasize enough how we all need to be writing and sending packages to our guys. It doesn’t have to cost a lot. It truly is the thought that counts. Maybe I am preaching to the choir here–but for those who haven’t yet—please start sending letters and packages to our troops. It means so much. Yet, isn’t it the least we can do for their service and dedication? Maybe your letter or package will cheer up a Soldier who is missing his family or maybe it will remind a Marine that he is appreciated on his last day. I just really believe strongly in this–our guys must hear from us—those who support them. We must do more than just speak our support–we must make it tangible.
There are many groups who send out packages that you can contact. There are even websites where troops write in and ask for letters and/or comfort items and you can write or mail things to them personally. If you don’t know how to start (I will risk sounding like Rosie O’Donnell) and suggest you Google it–you will get tons of results.
I know that our troops are dedicated and professional. They believe in their mission. I just really want them to know that we believe in them.
THANK YOU to our troops
these guys are gold… displays to the world what “always faithful” means to the courageous. also reminds me of the ol’
i am still prayin’ for the best for the mia & other victims… their families too.

May 19th, 2007 at 3:30 pmI agree,
Thank you to our troops.
Sounds like we are moving closer to getting them back.
I pray for them.
May 19th, 2007 at 4:05 pmThis is something I have mixed feelings about.

I wouldn’t want one put in me but if I was deployed I might give it a second thought making damn sure it would be taken out upon return to CONUS

May 19th, 2007 at 4:57 pmWhat a contrast. They would leave their guy in a flash and forget about him. We have thousands looking for 3. That says it all.
Godspeed to the searchers. Praying for the families and our troops.
May 19th, 2007 at 6:53 pmThose missing are with the 4th Battalion of the 31st Infantry Regiment(10th Mountain Div.),1/31st(now disbanded) was a part of the 2nd Infantry Division during my first tour in Korea, their unit crest is the Polar Bear, their Motto is “PRO PATRIA”
which means “For Country”
Stick with me through my brief story and the historical facts that follow because its important to know how the press has underminded us for a very long time.
I have fond memories of bar fights with the Polar Bears when we rotated off the DMZ,only to make some good drunken friends afterwards,Team Spirit exercise comes up and the Marines show up from Okinawa as they were our “Back up” if the Shit ever hit the fan, afterwards
it was party time in the beer gardens which met there were always fights with the Jarheads from Camp Swab that invaded our clubs, fond memories too and a scar on the back of my head where a lance corporal busted a beer bottle on,a Polar Bear returned the favor to the Jarhead and we all got hauled out of there by the MP’s making friends in the Paddy wagon, point is we’re all brothers in this fight overseas and at home.
Historical fact
A point of interest that applies to today is a time in history when elements of the 31st Infantry Regiment found themselves at a place Called “Hill 255″ in 1953, but its contour lines on a map of Korea and a 1959 film made it world famous as Pork Chop Hill.
The 1st Battalion of the Chinese 141st Division, commanded by Hou Yung-chun, was selected to assault Old Baldy. The unit’s political officer hand picked the 3rd Company to lead the attack and plant the “Victory Flag” on the hill. Facing the Chinese was the recently arrived and inexperienced Colombian 3rd Battalion. Supported by heavy artillery fire, the Chinese penetrated the U.N. position at about 2100 hours. Although the Colombians were reinforced by an American company, it was not enough to prevent them from having to fall back. Kao Yung-ho, a young soldier in the 3rd Company, declared, “This victory is to our company commander’s credit.”
“When the Chinese seized Old Baldy there was good military logic to abandon Pork Chop,” S.L.A. Marshall wrote. “That concession would have been in the interest of line-straightening without sacrifice of a dependable anchor. But national pride, bruised by the loss of Old Baldy, asserted itself, and Pork Chop was held.”
A lull fell over the area while the Chinese 47th Army was resupplied for its next objective — Pork Chop. Back in the United States, the press lambasted the 7th Division for the loss of Old Baldy and described the division as weary, slipshod and demoralized(sound familiar?). Unwittingly, the American press supplied the Chinese with a propaganda tool — during the April and July fighting, 7th Division troops would hear those same caustic criticisms loosed at them from Chinese loudspeakers.”
I don’t think all” of the press at that time “Unwittingly”
tried to undermine the troops at that time, the press and Hollywood was pretty much ate-up with commies(and still is) for the most part but it was a precursor of things to come up to this day, having the powers that be in the press called the shots, history repeats itself once again and for some reason the press thinks of itself as a branch of our government.

May 20th, 2007 at 3:10 amanyone read this story about the embassy?
Many of you read this stuff and never really read it, just take it in.
eveidence:
“may not be large enough or secure enough to cope with the chaos in Iraq.”
“set to open in September in what today is a war zone — to be an ultra-secure enclave. Yet it also hoped that downtown Baghdad would cease being a battleground when diplomats moved in.”
“could prove too enormous for the job of managing diminished U.S. interests in Iraq.”
“What you have is a situation in which they are building an embassy without really thinking about what its functions are,” said Edward Peck, a former top U.S. diplomat in Iraq.
“What kind of embassy is it when everybody lives inside and it’s blast-proof, and people are running around with helmets and crouching behind sandbags?”

911 Truth Statement
Respected Leaders and Families Launch 9/11 Truth Statement Demanding Deeper Investigation into the Events of 9/11
NEW YORK CITY, NY (Oct. 26, 2004) - An alliance of 100 prominent Americans and 40 family members of those killed on 9/11 today announced the release of the 911 Truth Statement, a call for immediate inquiry into evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur. The Statement supports an August 31st Zogby poll that found nearly 50% of New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge and “consciously failed to act,” with 66% wanting a new 9/11 investigation”

fwiw: I will never trust Murdoch/Fox… frankly I’m just hoping in some way Pat’s aff’l w/ them will benefit the cause of “Young American’s.”
@ best… Guess I’m hopeful that FOX (like most) will changes it’s colors & content when the war starts to be obviously WON by our forces.
re: the US Embassy write up… who wouldn’t think we’d need to make it a large fortress. I actually take it as a great sign that one is actually being built already AND I feel it will serve as a fixture to the peace-wanting Iraqis of American commitment to support & grow democracy. (Re: Fox’s neg. spin on it… expected).
The good must: Keep on keeping on.
May 21st, 2007 at 8:41 amThere’s a rumor going around that they found two of the Soldiers, beheaded…
http://www.thememriblog.org/blog_personal/en/1633.htm
May 21st, 2007 at 8:49 amI have feared this would be the outcome. I hope it is not true. It makes me sick to think about it. My heart aches for them and their friends and families. I am going to keep praying.
