Carl Cameron Of Fox News: Fred Thompson Will Not Announce On The Fourth of July…
…but on the 5th of July or after, once the holiday is over so the story will not be lost in holiday coverage. Polls indicate that 40% of Republicans are unhappy with their current field of potential nominees. The Politico story citing the 4th, and igniting all the brouhaha being well-reported at Hotair.
My money’s on Carl. He gave an on-air report in which he cited direct conversation with at least one source on Thompson’s team. Cameron’s been ahead of this story for awhile.

Was putsing in the shop while NPR had an interview with a Mormon supporter or organizer for Mitt. Seems he’ll have the same obsticles that Kennedy the Papist had, only a little closer in Salt Lake. He tought the Elders are bracing to be put under the microscope as time goes on. I’m still a McCain fan, Arizonza has cowboy hats too.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Fred Thompson. But he’s a Washington insider, and though he’s more conservative than Giuliani or McCain, and probably Romney, he’s not Reagan. And he’s certainly not a “movement” conservative; he’s not someone with vision.
And don’t think that Newt will fit that bill, either. Snuggling up to Hillary Clinton a year or two ago (I forget the issue) taught me that Newt is also willing to compromise his values occasionally if he thinks it will help him politically.
