MADRID, Spain (AP) - Spanish police arrested a Syrian arms dealer wanted by the United States on terrorism and other charges, the Interior Ministry said Friday.

Monzer al-Kassar, a longtime resident of Spain, was arrested Thursday evening at Madrid airport after he arrived on a flight from the southern city of Malaga, the ministry said.

It said al-Kassar faces charges at the U.S. District Court in New York of conspiracy to provide aid and equipment to a terrorist organization, conspiracy to kill U.S. citizens and officials, conspiracy to acquire and use anti-aircraft missiles and money laundering.

Al-Kassar, who lives in the resort city of Marbella near Malaga, was to go before a judge in Madrid on Friday.

Al-Kassar stood trial in Spain in 1995 on charges he supplied assault rifles used by Palestinian militants in the hijacking of the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro in 1985. He was acquitted.

“Long time resident of Spain”. I’ve heard that the IRA would at least call Scotland Yard so they could clear the area of innocents before their bombs would explode. It was the Christian thing to do.

Al Queda declares jihad on India.

But John Edwards said there is no global war on terror. Oh I’m sorry, it’s a bumper sticker. Thus, this announcement is clearly a clever concoction of Karl Rove. Because there is no global war on terror!

And if our own gov’t brought down the towers as so many leftists insist, then the bombings in Mumbai must have been the work of the CIA.

Yes, the logic is built out of steel.

Btw, James Taranto of the WSJ is referring to Edwards as “the lovely and talented” John Edwards.

After seeing this photo of the train bombing victims, I can’t help but think about those Americans that had to choose a faster method of death by jumping out of the twin towers. It still enrages me even after this many years. I hate the self-hating.
