The Operation Is Just Beginning

June 17th, 2007 Posted By Pat Dollard.

When asked by Chris Wallace of Fox News, just minutes ago, if he felt “The Surge” “was only just beginning”, General Petraeus answered: “We actually do. In fact, a lot of what we have done to this point has been so-called shaping operations for what we have just recently launched in the last 48 hours and some additional operations that we’ll launch over the next 48 or so hours.”

We have “real concern” about “30% of the neighborhoods” of Baghdad, he also said.

“Car bombs have been coming steadily down”

“Sectarian violence has been coming down”

On Harry Reid’s statements: “I’ve tried hard to be forthright… I have tried not to pull punches. I will not shrink from announcing that there is good.”

Wallace asked if it was true that sectarian violence is a bigger threat than Al Qaeda. Petraeus denied that: “Al Qaeda is the Sunni violence. They are carrying out the bulk of the sensational attacks.”

On Anbar and Baghdad’s worse neighborhoods: “City councils and neighborhood councils are getting elected….and they are tying into the coalition government”

I can’t believe that I am going to type this but I have to.

I’ve seen the Democrats and all of the very powerful organizations behind them (like Moveon.org) invest EVERYTHING they have into the U.S. being humiliated and defeated in Iraq. If this surge is successful, if real progress is made, if it appears in a few months that the Iraqi people will round the corner and start really having their country and system work, it will mean a complete and utter disaster for the Democrats. Not only will they lose the Presidential Election but they will lose the House and Senate in ‘08 as well.

With that said, and here’s the part I can’t believe I’m putting out there…but does anyone else NOT trust the Democratic Leadership or the Org’s. behind them? And yes, I am referring to informational, monetary and communication support to our enemies inside and outside of Iraq. If a bunch of Americans actually can believe that President Bush knew about 9/11 ahead of time, doesn’t it stand to reason that Harry Reid/Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the gang could be passing along top secret information to the Syrians, Iranians and Saudis? Could there be a direct link between the Senate Majority leader’s office and an Al Qaeda cave in Pakistan?

    I shudder to think.

(MSM newsroom:) “We can’t let this one get out, otherwise our jackass masters might lose 2008!”

It is way past time for Light Head Harry to get over to the AOR and see for himself. He has cravenly hidden in Washington making his wildly inaccurate pronouncements based on third-hand information. There certainly is time in his schedule to squeeze in a trip to Baghdad considering all of the non-work that the do-nothing Senate is talking about accomplishing. LHH needs to see with his own eyes, and hear with his own ears what is going on…and then have the coins to tell the truth, rather than spout the AQ propaganda line or some tangle of liberal psychobabble.

I don’t mind Democratic Senators as long as they’re in the the mold of another Harry: Harry Truman. Poor “Give ‘em Hell Harry” must be spinning in his grave watching what has become of the senate…and the boobs who claim heir to his heritage.

History excoriates Neville Chamberlain and the rest of the air-headed appeasement fellow-travelers of that ilk; the same will be the fate of Light Head Harry and his fellow travelers- regardless of who writes this story in the future.

its a shame that harry reid can outright criticize our generals publicly but the generals cant do the same. though , it does show that the generals and soldiers and general can deny their personal feelings when attempting to carry out their missions. If i were that general , i would wait for retirement and then schedule a meeting with reid to discuss how unprofessional and disingenuous reid was being and how i view reid as a traitor to this country.

Reid is a coward on so many levels who views the military and the american public in general as fools. Petraeus is being very cordial and diplomatic in his responses and I admire him for that. He is a true soldier , rising above political posturing .

    I agree with you, Fight4 -
I don’t put anything past the Awful libs/Dems - and I mean NOTHING!
I’m also sure that we should not let them get by with it.
We should take Dingy Harry to task everytime he opens his trap… and Pelosi too. I have chided some liberal acquaintences and they have not taken it well. Too Damn Bad!! We should go for broke on this.

  6. Future0311

I see how hard it was to put it out there, Fight4, but that one actually sounds a lot closer to the truth than that loony Bush-9/11 conspiracy theory.

    Pat

I just heard that in Iran, they started arresting thousands of dissidents today, do you have anything to report on this?

    Thanks.

  8. Dan

Could we then conclude my fellow patriots, that LightHeaded Harry and his dingbat boss SanFranNan are weapons of mass distraction?

  9. Jarhead68

I am so pissed off right now at everyone in DC, I could go postal. We have seen evidence up the ass of Saddam’s incestuous relationship with terrorists, including Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria ad nauseum but the dumbassed Republicans sit on their hands while the traitors in the democRat party go to the media and lie like sons of bitches about Bush, WMD, etc., and claim that the very general they voted to confirm (Petraeus) is incompetent. WTF is going on here? Is there no Republican who has the stones to challenge these people, including the jackasses in the drive-by media? Tony Snow is the only member of the White House staff that ever gets up in the face of dumb-fuck “REPORTERS” and challenges their assertions.

The Dems are traitors and the Reps are chickenshit. Pat, how about we round up a posse and head for the capital and throw the money changers out of the temple, as it were? Civil war in Gaza? Hell, we have one right here again. So far it’s been UNcivil, thanks to Pelosi, Reid et al, and thankfully, no bloodshed.

And the thing that frosts me the most is that the liberal pansies I know up here in the People’s Republic of New York haven’t got a clue as to what’s going on. They read Newsday, the NY Slimes and watch 30 minutes of news at 11 pm and pretend to know that “everything was great under Clinton” and Bush sucks.

I have a good friend who thinks the economy is in the dumper because he travels thoughout the states east of the Mississipi and “everyone” tells him business is bad. BTW, he’s a diamond wholesaler. Restaurants tell him business is bad, too. Meanwhile, all the economic indicators show a strong, vibrant economy with growth and low unemployment. (Hey, if we deport those illegals, does that mean unemployment will go to -4%?) His answer is that the government can fake the numbers. I asked him if he thinks they faked it under Clinton. No response. LOL.

Don’t you just feel like smacking a liberal in the back of the head and yelling, “WAKE UP, YOU FOOL.”

Shit, I’m pissed off tonight. Sorry, folks.

  10. John Cunningham

Joseph Kennedy while Ambassador to England was known to say that the US could do business with a Nazi Europe. The democrats handed South Vietnam over to the communists. Excuse me if I trot out this link again www.hnn.us/articles/31400.html A couple of articles ago Steve NC provided a link about Kennedy and his sneaking around behind President Reagan’s back. The democrats are trying to rewrite history leading people of today to believe that we chatted with the communists. The soviets gave up because they were afraid that Reagan would unleash the hounds, period. The only one chatting was Kennedy. The democrats are desperately trying to do an encore. They were in bed with the communists then and today they are in bed with the islamofacists. democrats are liars and should be arrested.

Re: “New York pansies.” I feel your pain. I know of whom you speak–if you really want to get pissed, check out New Yorker magazine this month. Mirror version where I am.

  12. Steven D

The thing that ticks me off the most is that the words of these traitors (Pelosi, Durbin, Reid, Biden, Dodd, Hagel, Leahy, Schumer, Specter, Clinton (take your pick), Edwards, Kerry, Obama, et. al.) have given aid and comfort to our enemies, and led to further deaths of our soldiers.

There IS a difference between dissent and treason, and these traitors should be dealt with appropriately.

  13. Denis

Reid & Pelosi have clearly stated the war is lost.
You can see this is correct by the rising number of casualties since the surge began.

Each week at our local anti war demonstrations we post the total number—both sides—to show how it continues
    to increase.

What is interesting is that there is growing support for the war protesttors every week….admittedly New Jersey
    is a blue state….but still it shows a trend against Bush’s war….

  14. Jay

Hey Steve……is Bush a traitor for not serving in Nam
Hey man….this guy even went awol.
There is this whole thing on one of the left websites…but so far no one has been able to disprove it.

  15. bd

If Ted Kennedy could be sending letters to the Soviet Premier…

Then it is completely logical and plausible the Democrats in charge, ie., Clinton, Pelosi, Reid, and obviously by extension, Soros, are indeed supplying critical information to the enemy, with the intent to kill their own Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines, in Vietcong style strategy.

    Call it what you will.

  16. John Cunningham

Denis, 30,000 more troops equals more activity equals more deaths on both sides. The surge will succeed and then the military will come back and bitch slap you, bitch.

  17. TJ

denis , are you really that stupid?

you judge success of the war on casualty rates? we send more troops in and more tropps die, therefore we are losing? the amount of troops duying is negligible when compared to the amount of insurgents we have killed or detained, weapons caches seized, and land taken control of. reid still hasnt been to iraq in ages and neither has pelosi yet we must believe them over generals in the field? Your anti war protests are useless. Tell jane fonda we remember vietnam for her treason and causing the deaths of numerous american soldiers. We will also rememebr the likes of you. prepare for an ass whipping.

    And Jay ,

dipshit! bush served in the guard during vietnam and was not deployed. that is not going awol. still hung up on the dan rather lies are we?

  18. Eric

Why can’t Bush supporters ever admit that he ever did anything shady or wrong in his life? It’s like the guys a fucking saint and can do no wrong. Ive never ONCE heard a republican say about him, “yeah he probably shouldn’t have done that.” HE PUSSIED OUT OF VIETNAM, GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND!!! HE WAS DEAD WRONG ABOUT PREWAR INTEL!! HE HAD A DRINKING PROBLEM AND DID LOTS OF COCAINE IN COLLEGE!! Its all excuses. It wasnt WMD, its democracy. He served in the Nat’l guard, just didn’t get deployed. He’s a born again Christian. Throw away your Bush/Cheney idolotry and start THINKING FOR YOURSELVES!! (You know who I’m talking to).

  19. John Cunningham

Well, Eric, I guess you’re talking to me. Nothing illegal about his Guard service, I went twice so he didn’t have to go. That’s what we agreed on. Grateful for having gone to Vietnam, I can’t stand deserts and I don’t even go to the Jersey shore and wasn’t all that keen while growing up when we did our two weeks in Ocean City every summer I prefer city streets. I used to do coke but I don’t anymore and I only drink twice a week. WMD, well you want to beat a dead horse here goes. Back in the early ’80’s we gave chemical weapons to Saddam thinking he’d only use them on Iran. Since we gave them to him that’s why we thought he had them. Went to a cousin’s son’s funeral two years ago. First time in a church since God knows when. I don’t particularly care for his stand on the immigration policy but 43 rocks. I think for myself and you know what I think? I think you’re an asshole. Now go wipe your mouth, you have a lot of hairy shit hanging from it. No wait, there’s probably no hair in it.

  20. Eric

Wow, John. Zing! You really got me.. The guy is a silver spoon wuss. A lazy incompetent ass, unlike his father and grandfather who actually earned their keep. Yet there you go again, getting his back like a good slave. I got some heartbreaking news for you, he doesnt give a shit about you and he never will, no matter how much you defend him!

  21. LR

You tell him John…and to Eric, when are you Bush Bashers going to admit that Bush has more balls then you’ll ever have. :roll:Nothing is perfect in war, but we lost fewer lives than they have and due to technological advances a lot fewer thant in prior wars.

Look out Iran here we come!

Every American needs to relive 9-11 a few times a year (in spirit). We (well you)are getting to complacant.

  22. Future0311

Denis, Pelosi and those who follow her have no credibility. Pelosi committed a felony by her actions back in early April. The federal government hasn’t the guts to take her or whoever else assisted her down.

  23. Jay

Still no hard core proof Bush served out his air national guard trour….the part in Alabama…no one in the cadre he supposedly served in remembers him!!!
They even put an award out if someone can PROOVE they served with Bush in the air national guard….SO FAR….NO ONE has been able to col;lect!!!

And yes TJ…USA instigated chemical weapons…we helped Saddam get them…NOW…USA opposes such weapons..??

Like nukes…ONLY USA can have…come on!!! if USA has nukes then why not rest of the world?

  24. John Cunningham

Jay, how could I have missed you? “Why not the rest of the world?” Because the rest of the world is a bunch of loons. And a lot of them live here. They’re running amok amongst us. Tell me Jay, what goes through your mind as you run amok?

  25. Steven D

    Denis,

I’m glad to hear that increasing numbers of protesters in New Jersey can now be considered a bellweather for the rest of the country. I polled a bunch of my friends and an increasing number of them feel that New Jersey is a garbage dump, so I guess that’s true, too.

And what’s with you idiots calling it “Bush’s war”? Are you seriously so naive to have forgotten that we were attacked? Or that partially enriched uranium was found after we deposed Saddam? Or that terrorist training camps were found in Iraq? Or that Saddam Hussein was supporting terrorism by sending money to the families of suicide bombers in our ally, Israel?

    Jay,

The assertion that Bush is a traitor for not having served in Vietnam is preposterous. My Dad didn’t serve either, but he is one of the most patriotic people I know. And “there’s no proof that he was there” isn’t proof that he was NOT there. Man, you guys make some of the most unreasoned stretches in logic that can be believed. Oh, but I guess we could all join Dan Rather in believing “Even though we have no proof, I know in my heart it must be true.”

And the reason the U.S.A. has nukes is to prevent other countries from using them on us. Have we ever used them for imperialistic reasons? If you take a look at the wars the U.S. has been involved in, how many of them were we the aggressors, and how many of them were we the liberators?

    Eric,

While I am largely a Bush supporter, I hardly agree with him on everything. Bush is a “big government conservative”, which means that when it comes to the size of government, he’s a liberal. I believe the Medicare Prescription Drug program was a fiasco, that the No Child Left Behind Act has some holes in it, he was wrong to agree to an increase in the minimum wage, and that he’s insane with regard to illegal
immigration. Does that sound like I don’t think for myself? And if you haven’t heard many conservatives mentioning any of these, then you haven’t been paying attention.

And who do you think you are that you can read his heart? “he doesn’t give a shit about you and he never will” Stop trying to define others by your lack of morality!

ALL THREE OF YOU IDIOTS would be received with much more credibility if you presented arguments that 1) had a modicum of logical thinking attached, and 2) didn’t just repeat the rants that you read on MoveOn.org.
