Absolutely Must See Video
“It was hard for me to understand how someone thousands of miles away, sitting behind a desk, could tell me how to fight a war. Grab a gun. Come over here with me, and I guarantee you, that you’re gonna change your mind in a second.”
To understand the heart, mind, soul, sacrifices and experiences of the frontline American warrior, you are unlikely to find much better video. A prieceless gem from the great new video site, Breitbart.tv. A site I suggest you make one of your daily destinations, just as I suggest you watch this video, and spread the word.
Luttrell, who’s riveting new book ‘Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10’ is fast top seller, talks to Breitbart.tv in front of the U.S. Capitol
I got to say ,I just started this book. The one thing that is so true is that someone, thousands of miles away can tell these men how to fight a war.I for one belive if the roe were changed ,the war would be over.Just my opinion
June 20th, 2007 at 11:53 amA true Warrior and how they realy internalize the facts of the mission and what it means to them. Navy Cross. Yes, but as he puts it a burden to when you put in perspective the facts that bought about the award. My former neighbor,
June 20th, 2007 at 12:23 pmnow a Captian in the 10 Mountain Divison, I last heard word from his father that he was up for a Bronze Star. The same common bond is that they did not have to talk about, nor want to, and when prodded they would go to great lengths to downplay the role that they played. It is amazing the gulf that exists between real warriors and the likes of John Kerry.
“We don’t watch the news”. Good, the idiots will still be here you get back.

June 20th, 2007 at 1:04 pmWhat a great perspective! These brothers in arms are the very men that afford us all the opportunity to sleep well each and every night. The warrior ethos is completely misunderstood by anyone who’s never served in uniform, which is quite evident by critical politicians.
Thank God for this young man and his willingness to tell the truth and stick his finger in the eye of the media and others who helped contribute to the death of his 19 comrades.
June 20th, 2007 at 1:13 pmThis is just not right. Let the fighters fight and the JAG, media and politics should just stay out of it.
I am so deeply sorry for this loss.
May God bless America and save us from ourselves.
June 20th, 2007 at 1:44 pmWithin an hour, the Taliban had been notified. The decision to let the two goatherders and the boy go cost them 19 American lives. Maybe they should have aborted the mission when its security was compromised. Unfortunately, this is what we call a bona fide cluster. OK, for people who need a cultural touchstone: Doesn’t anyone remember “Saving Private Ryan?” The whole point of the movie, they let that German guy go, and then he ended up killing a bunch of them later. I wonder why they couldn’t have taken them with them, bound together and gagged. After all, the mission seemed to be fairly short term. Or left them in a cave, bound and gagged. Maybe the rules of engagement for operating SEALS should be the officer gets to make the call based on the facts at hand, and qualified immunity extended to them. How come the fed government has qualified immunity, but not its soldiers?
June 20th, 2007 at 2:01 pmROE’s are made by armchair shyster lawyers(aka paid liars), who wouldn’t know a rifle from a hockey stick. It is time to leave the decision making up to the warfighter.
Turn ‘em loose and let ‘em fight.
Looking back in history, I wonder what ROE was in place when we fire-bombed Tokyo or Berlin? Oh that’s right…the ROE’s were…in both cases….win the fucking war…!! Hmmm….Why is this so hard to understand?
June 20th, 2007 at 4:30 pmAs a civilian with no military experience, it seems the ROE’s today have been heavily influenced by the touchy feelies of political correctness and multiculturalism that has infiltrated every other aspect of our society. Our military is the most educated and well trained in the world, yet the message I get here is that we can’t trust them to make their own judgements given what’s happening around them? It is understandable to have checks and balances, but for crying out loud, this is madness!
God bless our men and women in uniform! It speaks volumes of their character in how they perform within such restrictive criteria. Thank you Mr. Luttrell for such a fine message.
June 20th, 2007 at 5:03 pmMy idea of a sane ROE (from Full Metal Jacket):
There’s the enemy. Kill them.
June 20th, 2007 at 5:41 pmThe video was just WOW !!!
ROE sucks…my son is point man and having to deal with this shit.
Hey Congress…let our Marines do their job
June 20th, 2007 at 7:55 pmComrades, Glenn Beck had a very moving interview w/Marcus Luttrell from 9-10AM today, and he didn’t finish it so he is having Marcus on TOMORROW (6/22), also at 9:00 EST. The transcript of today’s int. will be at Beck’s website this afternoon. It is: http://www.glennbeck.com/home/index.shtml
Glenn Beck is a very good guy, BTW.
June 21st, 2007 at 6:26 amBTW, don’t blame the lawyers (like me) for idiotic ROEs. We’re just technicians who provide advice to the honchos, who are perfectly free to ignore it–it’s kinda like blaming our medics who save the enemy vermin when WE’VE wounded them. “They’re just doing their job.”
The US Congress and Prez pass the laws, and AFAIC Bush has been idiotically weak in NOT asserting more aggressive ROEs, that are perfectly defensible under those laws. His heart is in the right place, but he kinda flinches when the lib lynch-mob starts screaming and waving their torches.
He needs to make simple, unarguable “THEY ARE TRAITORS” arguments like we see on this site. AND DON’T LET UP.
The late great CIA chief Bill Casey was a decorated OSS hero in WWII, and a fabulously successful lawyer after the war…WE NEED TO GET LAWYERS LIKE HIM IN THERE.
Sorry to go O/T.
June 21st, 2007 at 6:38 amGetting a medal after losing my friends would just make me feel guilty.
June 21st, 2007 at 7:13 amThe 2 atomic bombs dropped on Japan sure as hell didnt follow the ROE’s, but it sure won the fucking war real quick. Not saying they should have killed the herders but they should have been able to make the decision to detain them, but instead they are forced to let them go because some guy sitting in an office said thats the right thing to do, how does he sleep at night knowing these ROE’s dont work on this type of enemy and men and women are dying because of it!
June 21st, 2007 at 9:26 amGlenn Beck had Marcus on his radio show today and he will be on again tomorrow. I just got done listening to today’s and Glenn said that would put the transcript up on his website,(www.glennbeck.com) the audio will also be available. Marcus, for everything you have done, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

If every lawyer were of the same mindset as yourself and Mark Levin, I wouldn’t have as much contempt for lawyers as I do. Unfortunately, too many of them are
June 21st, 2007 at 4:13 pmP.C.-ACLU-esque schmucks IMHO.
For Country and Glory, why would you feel guilty, did you kill him?
June 21st, 2007 at 10:08 pmGuilty because you survived, and they didn’t.
August 16th, 2007 at 11:55 pmYou survived. Can you change the outcome?
August 19th, 2007 at 9:56 pmAccept it.
Honor your lost comrade by living a good life, as good as you would have him live. After all we will be together again someday and your friend will be happy that you didn’t waste the life that was spared.
“We aren’t murderers, we are soldiers”…
Oh man! Just what can one say about people like this?
Others posting have noted that its due to very fine folks like Mr. Luttrell and his team that we have our freedoms…
God bless them all…
