Yesterday’s Hotel Bombing Was A Very Bad Sign For Al Qaeda, Indeed
Now there’s no doubt that yesterday’s heinous assasination of four U.S.-allied Sunni sheiks was a bit of a loss to our side. However, we certainly did not lose our alliance with those tribes. The sheiks who will take their place will not only remain in the fight against Al Qaeda, but will now be even further motivated to crush them. Fresh, fierce blood vendettas are like that. Most importantly, these assasinations represented not only yet another dramatic setback for Al Qaeda’s ambitions in Iraq, but for its very survival.
Al Qaeda cannot survive in Iraq as a stand-alone entity detached from the population. They need the complicity of the population to survive and function. Wherever they are, the population will know. I’ve done my time on the streets of Iraq, and I understand how Iraqi neighborhoods work. There are no secrets. Now keep in mind that if the population does not want Al Qaeda amongst them, the population will destroy them. They have the means to do it, relatively easily. We’ve been watching this very scenario play out over the last few months.
The Shiites and Kurds will essentially have nothing to do with Al Qaeda. Not only do the Shiites have the obvious religious differences with them, but the Shiites have developed their own social/military/political power structures under leaders like Moqtada Al Sadr, and these men are not about to undercut their own power by fostering the growth of Al Qaeda’s alternative government, The Islamic State of Iraq. So this leaves Al Qaeda with only one option for survival: good relations with a receptive Sunni population. Murdering four Sunni sheiks is not the best way to achieve that. In fact, it’s not only a perfect example of how not to achieve that, but of how to assure their own destruction. This bombing was an incredibly stupid act which betrays Al Qaeda’s desperate, flailing helplesness. The Sunnis will now only further hate them.
Unable to restore alliances with the Sunni tribes they need for survival, Al Qaeda decided to lash out in revenge. It may make them feel good for a minute, and it may make some vague street-rep statement, but it only galvanizes those who will destroy them. By ratcheting up the war with their former and potentially future hosts, they have merely hastened their own demise. No friends = no Al Qaeda.
The writing has been on the wall for Al Qaeda and they’ve seen it. They will never restore relations with the Sunnis of Iraq, because Al Qaeda demands that the territories in which they function submit to their governance. They call their government the Islamic State of Iraq. It is Sharia, it is brutal, it is medieval, it is murderous. The Sunnis got a two year taste of it, and overthrew it. They are not going back.
It is an historical maxim that whenever an empire faces its final days, it grows ever more violent - - desperate to preserve itself. From the recent terrorist horrors that have besieged Baghdad - bombed bridges, bombed shrines, murdered sheiks - we are watching Al Qaeda play this maxim out.
Al Qaeda survives at this point because some Sunni neighborhoods around Baghdad still give them the cover and support they need. We are currently putting these neighborhoods under seige. The Islamic State of Iraq is finished.
The benefits of a stabilized, democratic Iraq, with whom we have good relations, are incalculable. It will be our first line of defense, the West’s primary bulwark against the rising tide of global Islamic Fascist Imperialism. Should we really give it up just so that Hillary Clinton can get elected President?
I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your efforts to provide a sane perspective of an insane situation. I happened to catch a cbs clip concerning this desperate gamble. Their take was that AQ was reminding the sheiks et al that they can reach them wherever they go, and the intimidation factor. If I had not been exposed to a different view of the situation, it surely would have reinforced the cut and run view, which is what I am sure cbs had in mind…
June 26th, 2007 at 3:05 amI said this years ago also..The more brutal these bastards get the sooner they will seal their fate..just didnt figure it would take this long..The good muslims just want to live in peace, work, and raise their families just like all good people..the water is boiling, i just hope we continue to turn the heat up..Thanks Pat for your insight and great reporting
June 26th, 2007 at 3:13 amGreat job, Pat
Like I said in another post, you have the best web site that I have seen. No sucking up, I mean it. I tell everyone I know to go here for your special insight from the front.
It’s OK with me that the MSM isn’t reporting what’s going on…they need to be kept away so the Forces can be allowed to roll. I know we can get this done.
June 26th, 2007 at 3:50 amsoonrgoonr -
Re: CBS … Did it happen to be the gal reporter-ette Laura Logan? I went to the CBS news site and I see her “report” there. She is well known to inject enough bias into her “reporting” to O.D. on. The following quotes are Logan responding to the CBS desk jocky’s question to her regarding FNC’s Bill O`Reilly’s charge that the netwrok news outlets are only concerned with pushing body counts and every IED blast, and nothing more. Here is what Logan’s philosophy on news “reporting” in the Iraq war:
“Well, I mean, with all due respect to Bill O’Reilly or anyone who takes that line, I mean, I just, it’s ridiculous. It’s completely and utterly ludicrous. I mean how can you, the media’s job is not to serve one side or the other. That’s never been our job. We’re there to be the watchdog for all sides. … So, it’s not up to us to say, “Oh, you know, it doesn’t do well for the war effort if you show how many people are being killed, so we’re not going to show it.” … I mean, what are we talking about? That’s not even journalism. It’s so ridiculous, I actually don’t think that I should have, I mean, you shouldn’t have to stoop to address those issues. And also, I mean, where are these people who think that we’re not, we’re helping the terrorists’ cause? … I mean, what about the fact that this is the reality, that these bombings are still taking place? That in spite of the surge, and people are still dying in Iraq? That huge numbers of American soldiers are dying over here? I mean, are we so, now we’re in the game of hiding, of only telling what some people want to hear? That’s not what we do. …”
So, soonrgoonr, this is CBS news and their “reporters’” philosophy on covering the war … and that of the entire MSM. Her quote is so filled with bias and contradiction that it rivals the stench of the “rotting chunks of flesh” she describes in the posted CBS [account] of the same story Pat has posted here.
What if the enemy fell in a war … and nobody heard it?
I’ll believe Pat and Michael Yon before and above ANY damn thing CBS and/or the rest of the MSM is telling me about this war. Another great site to check on throughout the day is newsbusters.org. THEY are a great watchdog on the biased MSM.
June 26th, 2007 at 4:12 amPat, how about sending a copy of this great report to Sen. Lugar?
June 26th, 2007 at 4:39 amThanks Pat for your good reporting. I just wish those idiots in WA were reading and listening to what is really happening. I just heard on Talk radio some republican now announced that he feels there should be a swift removal of troops as the surge is not working. I wish I could remember the douche bags name. Fucking politicians are more worried about their poll numbers being in the toilet than what is actually happening. They all need to be fired. They still don’t get it!! It not the war were pissed about exactly, it’s immigration and that bull shit bill they are trying to shove down our throats. I just feel bad for our troops and all they have done and sacrificed and it is being ignored because the pencil pushers are a bunch of number crunching pussies!!!!!
June 26th, 2007 at 4:40 amAQ is going down!! Liberty will always win out. Nobody wants to live in fear. They want to be free and give their families a good life.
drillanwr, “I mean, like, really, uh, ya’a know, omygod.”
June 26th, 2007 at 6:00 amThanks again, Pat for a fact-filled update and your insight on the war against Al Qaeda and the terrorist bastards that allign with them.
June 26th, 2007 at 6:01 amMake a detour now, and go straight into IRAN and blow those bastards away.
God bless our MILITARY HEROES and PAT DOLLARD.
Pat -
working on any dailies?
Thanks for giving us truth from the ground there
June 26th, 2007 at 6:04 amContact this traitor who says the surge isn’t working…
even though our boys have barely begun. They know we can win. They don’t want us to win, because they will lose power if our boys win.
Let him know what you think. And don’t hold back.

Actually, I wish the MSM would report on stuff like this. I want to see Nancy Reid and Harry Pelosi (hard to tell the two apart, sorry…) try to spin this stuff.
To paraphrase how I feel, below is a quote from Winston Churchill:
“I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.
Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.”
Amazing how a speech delivered by Sir Winston Churchill to the House of Commons of the British Parliament on 4 June 1940 still rings with truth today.
Thomas Jefferson stated: “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” How true. As was back then in his time through Winston Churchill’s time and to now, we must be ready and willing to defend the freedoms that we cherish so dearly.
June 26th, 2007 at 6:48 amHey man…cant get out of that place sooner!!
June 26th, 2007 at 6:57 amLook if it wasnt for we protesters in 1960’s the marines would still be in Vietnam…
It’s chaos over there in Afghanistan…fighting six whole years & things are getting worse….biggest exporter of opium now…with Amerikan support.
WOW!!!
Senator Lugar….very conservative Republican states the surge is not working!
This would be a good message to put on signs at at anti-war vigils. Very revealing.
This could be a turning point.
Let’s see what other Republicans follow…..Most I believe will wait till Sept to assess the situation.
June 26th, 2007 at 7:04 amIf things are all better then they will support the war. However in Sept if we are still loosing a soldier every day then there will be intense m,ovement to bring the troops home. What do you think.
Great reporting Pat! If I want news about Iraq, I only go to your site. The MSM is laughable, at best. I turn a deaf ear to ANYone who says we’re not winning and there are many. I only pause enough to point them in Dollard’s direction. Bless you Pat!
June 26th, 2007 at 7:23 amCan you imagine at the start of the Battle of the Bulge if 3 days into it a Senator says:
“The Germans have one the battle, Patton hasn’t even reached our boys in Bastogne, they’ve been stopped. We’ve failed, and must pull out of Europe.”
Or Iwo Jima:
“We must pull our Marines off the Island. This operation was to take 4 days. Its been 5 and we’ve only secured our beaches. The Marines have failed.”
Everybody let this traitor know what he is doing and let him know the truth that this surge is winning and almost all the troops support this!
June 26th, 2007 at 7:27 amJay,
You and your friends from the ’60s are probably helping keep the Opium in demand from Afghanistan, and I hate to tell you but there are still Marines in Vietnam, now retired and some with VN wives have returned and they get thanks everyday for what they tried to do for the locals who went through horrendous suffering ( what will happen in Iraq if we leave to early) when RVN fell..3 years AFTER the Marines left. They are now on good terms with their commie block captains but you on the other hand may not have a place there if you had the balls to go over and try it again.
June 26th, 2007 at 7:34 amHillary and Co. must’ve “pulled” the FBI file on Sen. Lugar from the dem “sleeve” …
Denis -
You are too simplistic (simple-minded), even for a leftie …
June 26th, 2007 at 8:01 amLook, let me make this as clear as possible:
The politicians in charge need to lose the war because their voting block are the wussified left, the people who think they’re brave for holding peaceful protests.
Guys we have to be so loud and so pissed, in blogs, emails, talking to people that we’re being lied to by the media and politicians.
We have to let them know these 3 things painfully, and loudly and simply clear:
-Stop lying: We know we are in fact winning the war.
-We will vote you liars out and cut off party funding if you continue this bull.
-We want to continue and fight the war to win, period.
We all must do this, again, and again, and again.
June 26th, 2007 at 8:03 amThanks for writing this.
June 26th, 2007 at 8:44 amI am so tired of hearing people say that the surge isn’t working!
I just sent that dick head an email..
June 26th, 2007 at 8:53 amYou know, it’s interesting about Sen. Lugar. He has become such an entrenched DC pol, he holds a record for going on the most Aspen Institute junkets (for a Republican), along with a boatload of liberal Dems, like Waxman. He’s been hanging around them so much, he doesn’t realize he’s become like them. He wants to get along so bad, so he’ll keep getting to go on the free trips. It’zsjust a cush job for him. How embarassing (for him).
June 26th, 2007 at 8:55 amPat- you state the obvious truth so well. I can’t understand how the majority of Americans can’t understand it. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge regarding the Middle East, the military and counter-insurgency can see that we are winning.
I think the liberals know it also- that is why they are trying so hard to force defeat before we accomplish final victory.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:05 am“A soldier a day”. Well, Denis, if the US can’t handle that microscopic level of KIA in a war that it’s winning, there is no hope whatsoever for the country. It might as well drop its trousers and bend over the nearest table. I’m sure you could give instructions.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:26 amEverbody write an email saying in no uncertain, perfectly clear terms about:
the war
the lies about the war
who wants to lose the war for power
then click this link:
http://www.dcs1.com/del/delpg5/ConEmail.html
copy the whole list (yes, I know its quite large because it includes EVERYBODY IN CONGRESS!).
then send it.
Here’s an idea: everyone here do it today. Then tomorrow. Then the next. And next. And next.
Make it apart of you daily routine.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:29 amJust do something anything…
The writing is on the wall everybody
The troops are winning, but our Congress is getting set to betray our troops again with the biggest betrayal of all - starting with Sen. Lugar, they’re going to pull out, and let the area go to hell.
They will call that carnage the fault of Republicans, then control the White House after the 08 elections, and effectively throw out the Constitution.
What do you think will happen to the military? It will be gutted like never before.
What will we do? Will we see the rise of militias like in the ’90s? They will be labeled right-wing racists and then murdered by the FBI-ATF. The crack-down will begin.
And just to be sure that a rebellion doesn’t go too far, they will call on the U.N. to bring troops in because American troops won’t fire on American patriots.
Will we be alive by the 2012 election? Will the country still exist?
June 26th, 2007 at 10:43 amalright, I don’t know if there’s a limit on how long a post can be, but I want to post something that I’ve just finished today. It’s a sort of angry-drunken-rant/opinion type thing that I’ve only worked on four or so times over the last couple of months(75% of those four I was piss drunk and ramped up from browsing Pat Dollards exellent site here, thank God for spellcheck). I apologize for the length, and please remember that most of it was thought up and cast in electrons through the bleary lense of a shit-ton of beers.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:45 amMy Thoughts On America
America is my country. America is my home. These United States…these words are filled with power. These words are filled with an Idea. Despite the personalities and politics of the founding fathers, above all the United States is an idea. And no matter what comes of this great country, the ideas that epitomize this nation will echo through out the centuries to come. Life, Liberty, the pursuit of Happiness. It doesn’t matter why those words were chosen for the declaration, it matters not the reasons. The ideas are what is important. These basic conditions of the human experience. These idea’s are what will stand the test of time, and many generations from now, will define what is and what is not. They will define the struggles to come, the hardships yet to occur, they will set forth the precedence that there is something better, something nobler, than any one man. “Live free or die”. This slogan is the force of the idea. It is what you get when you boil it down to the basics. Freedom. An Ideal first conceived when mankind mostly habited the Mediterranean. Many like to proclaim the fascism of this country. Many like to profess how this government restricts them, censors them, and oppresses their idea’s and beliefs. All speak without thought, without knowledge. True oppression, true fascism, restricts anything that opposes it. Were you in China, or old Soviet Russia, you wouldn’t tell your best friend that you thought such things, least you be arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and executed as an enemy of the state. Were you in a truly Islamic state, you might have been publicly stoned to death. If you think that the U.S.A. is fascist, that it is oppressive, then all you need do is compare yourself to that poor fellow in Tienanmen Square. Do you believe so strongly that you’d be willing to sacrifice your life? Think, for a moment, how Stalin, or Hitler, or Mao would have dealt with your views. That is true fascism, that is true oppression. And God willing, it shall never occur in this country.
So, this is my country. You know, I remember the Soviet Union. I remember the fall of the Berlin Wall. Very vaguely, I can remember the sense of a weight hanging over my families heads. Like the anvil in a Willy Coyote cartoon. And then one day it was gone. All of a sudden, the Evil Empire had fallen, all on it’s own (and thanks to Reagan and Star Wars and Afghanistan). And all of a sudden, here’s America. Once one of two world powers, all of a sudden the only big kid on the block. I remember this country falling into the position of your local police officer. “Be nice kids, don’t do that, don’t make me come over there”. And so it was that one of the youngest nations in the history of mankind became the peace keeper of mankind. The guardian, the enforcer, and the police officer, all in one. And, like any police force, became the target of the worlds ire. The worlds resentment. Nations that once recognized us and accepted us as their defenders and liberators now see us as enemy number one. Not because we directly or indirectly threaten them, but because that is what is popular. They can’t help it, they just follow ‘world opinion’. No more “thanks for saving us from (communism/fascism/civil war/genocide). Now-a-days it’s more akin to –yeah, thanks and all, but now we’re gonna do what we are gonna do, so see ya, thanks for making sure we can choose to determine how we live…alright, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out…I don’t want ass prints on my new door….
I’ll be the first to admit that we’ve made mistakes in the past… But show me a country that hasn’t. But it’s really quite striking how things contrast now-a-days.
You know, and I’m indirectly quoting Bashman on liveleak.com, but I remember how things were after 9/11. I was nearing my first year of active duty in the Navy when that tragedy occurred And I remember that just about every non-Muslim country was with us, and a lot of Muslim countries were too. There was even a headline in France stating something to the effect of “Were All Americans Today”… or something like that….the point is that, for one brief time, we were all together on something. It seemed that we all saw the dangers of militant Islam, the dangers of what it represented. It’s sometimes very strange to see what waysides the world has fallen bye today. And it really shouldn’t surprise me, or anyone. When it wasn’t in their best interest, when did the nations of the world ever decide to show appreciation of anything? Don’t’ get me wrong, there are our steadfast allies, like England, but for the most part, Europe has forgotten the pit from which we helped to save them: first the Germans, then the Soviets. There’s something that I’ve always wanted to say to some anti-war, anti-government “activist” that’s found something to “protest” now-a-days… Who do you think is responsible for making sure that you aren’t speaking Chinese/Russian/German right now? Because if isolationist/defeatist assholes like you were in charge (Pelosi/Reed), how long do you think that this bastion of civilization that we call America would last? I’ve had some history, and if I’ve learned nothing else, it’s that appeasement enabled Adolf Hitler, and resistance enabled such things as the Magna Carta, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. And so today, we have a choice.
It doesn’t matter what the Main Stream Media or the Democratic Party, or for that matter, the Republican Party (for wasn’t it Washington himself who said “beware of political parties…”) have to tell us, for we should never completely trust what those whose sole goal is to remain in power say, but rather what our own God given intellect, our intelligence, tells us. There’s something very wrong with the world today, and it is becoming more and more clear that we may need some changes in how our elected officials do business. Not rebellion, not revolution, but only reform. A nation must be allowed to defend itself, against both direct threats, and indirect threats. 9/11 was a direct threat, and became so after a long time of being an indirect threat that was never fully addressed. But before any threat can be addressed, it must first be recognized for what it is, and the sad/madding fact of today’s political environment is that if recognizing a threat will cause you to lose votes (i.e., lose power), well then you just deny that there’s any threat at all. This is the type of thinking that allowed such horrors as the Rwandan Genocide. A cat is still a cat, regardless of whether you call it a dog or a car or a ham sandwich. The threat posed by radical Islam and global terrorism is still a threat, even if you deny it’s existence, like closing your eye’s as a kid and saying that scary shadow in the corner isn’t really there. Only this time the shadow isn’t a shadow, it’s a monster, flesh and blood real. And no matter what the most humanitarian of us would wish, we will have to wade through a river of blood in order to reach the clean shores of the other side. Such is as it has always been, and always shall be. So, let me end by repeating some quotes:
“Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged.”
President Abraham Lincoln
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
President Abraham Lincoln
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
– Edmund Burke
“Voting is no substitute for the eternal vigilance that every friend of freedom must demonstrate towards government. If our freedom is to survive, Americans must become far better informed of the dangers from Washington — regardless of who wins the Presidency.” —
James Bovard in Voting is Overrated
“History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.”
– Dwight D. Eisenhower, First Inaugural Address, Jan. 20,
And I’d like to end with a few mixed quotes from Thomas Jefferson;
“The people cannot be all, and always, well-informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they
misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. … God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion; what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance.”
Thomas Jefferson
June 26th, 2007 at 10:46 amNV Sailor
Very well put. Everything I have been feeling, but put more eloquently than I could ever do. You also used my two most favorite quotes by a leader I have most admired Abraham Lincoln. I wish we could get rid of the traitors in that fashion; no one has the balls to do it anymore. The PC movement has effectively cut them off.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:04 pmThe spirit of resistance is alive and well. If American people are pushed to far IT WILL BE FELT!!!!!! I believe that with every bone in my body.
To answer Pat’s question: no we don’t want to give it up so Billary can become president. We, the people, are in for the fight. They, the MSM and pols and manipulated masses, are in it for the path of least resistance. Our pols do not represent us adequately because just think what it takes to become a weasel politician–constantly pandering to say what people want to hear, and get them to give you money. Sort of like another of the world’s oldest professions…
June 26th, 2007 at 12:37 pmThis is for the 60’s dude.
I recently spoke to a guy who came back from a trip to Vietnam. He was part of the Joint MIA Recovery Task Force. He said that the US won the VN war. Why?
Because the vast majority of Vietnames were born after the Vietnam War. They have no memory of that conflict.
People in the North want to move to the South. They want jobs and they want US soap operas.
Even the soldiers and police, say “patooey” to communism.
They want capitalism and the freedom it brings.
And incidently, Saigon, was NEVER conquered. It’s the same as it always was. The streets have different names, but the hearts and minds ain’t with Ho Chi Minh, nor are they with you hippies from the 60’s.
That’s his No BS assesment.
Put down the reefer dude, you’re time has passed.
June 26th, 2007 at 2:20 pmJay,
Seriously, were you dropped on your head as a child?
Did daddy not love you enough?
Its AMERICA not Amerika. Dipshit.
Needless to say, I believe this makes France even bigger pussies then they were before. I mean, if Iraqis are turning on AQ… Then all AQ has left is the Frenchies and the Democrats.
June 26th, 2007 at 3:31 pmYou are right Dan…
These fossilized hippie relics were always the weaker ones… while other volunteered and fought, they had to make excuses for their personal failure as men… had to justify there cowardice and label it an ‘unjust’ war.
All war is unjust.
All war kills innocent people.
Sometimes, you must have war.
They ran, and have spent 40 years justifying why they defend their country, and by extension, their own family. Unconsciously they knew it. Well let it be known consciously then:
Hippies then and today have the ‘flight’ response in their genes. They envy and hate those who innately have the ‘fight’ gene. In other words, if their mother was attacked and raped in front of them, they would freeze and cry. Simplistic? Yup. But it’s true. They’ve spent the rest of their lives making themselves feel better about it. Now, lets face it, they are almost now in complete charge.
June 26th, 2007 at 3:36 pmSorry guys, the middle line should read:
They ran, and have spent 40 years justifying why they couldn’t defend their country…
June 26th, 2007 at 3:37 pmIn other words…
More and more vagina’s have been in control.
We are almost completely vagina’s.
To the men that are left, that actually want to save their country and by extension, the world…
Please reach in the male vagina’s, fish around a little bit, then find and…
Pull out their balls for them… they might yet recognize them.
June 26th, 2007 at 3:40 pmDenis-
Please follow these simple steps
1. Pull your head completely out of your ass
2. Take a deep breath, realize that the FACTS point to the surge working, and that those who portray otherwise are morons
3. Realize a soldier everyday is a small price to pay for what will be accomplished.
4. Realize that the “soldier a day” fact isn’t actually a fact, its fiction. You don’t sign the line if you don’t know death may be waiting. You sign the line for more then yourself.

Cpl. Paul Scanlan USMC
On February 3, 2003
We arrive in the desert,
Away home from family.
Most of us young men
and some of us were old,
All of us ready to fight
Standing strong and bold.
March 19th came swift,
Thats when we began the fight,
The ground war was finally declared,
as we crossed the borders late that night.
We carried our Guns to battle
and always kept them clean
We were all experts with weapons,
Then again we’re all Marines.
We were a few miles in
before reality struck,
When an RPG
Hit our 7-ton truck.
We picked up our guns and grabbed our ammo and rushed straight through to the front-lines, All of us alert but scared to the bone, and never-the-less we charged in to fight.
From dusk til dawn battle was long
but when it was over and done,
we’d look to our brothers to the left and the right, and pick up all our guns.
The people of our country
Who preach so much of “Rights”
Would call us murderers and killers
But they’re not in the fight
However, enjoy your freedoms
My brothers paid for in blood,
because that is what we fight for,
Thats why we carry guns.
We hope that you live happy,
We pray your life is fun…
Because of us you’ll never know,
What its like carrying a gun.
7. Realize, that you, don’t amount to anything. Stop bitching and keep your mouth shut.
June 26th, 2007 at 3:54 pmHey here’s an idea…
Remember that show Jericho? the Nut campaign?
Send Senator Lugar and now, Senator Voinivich balls and a white handkerchief as the surrender flag in the mail…
Lugar’s address is 306 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, DC 20510 and Voinivich is 524 Hart Senate Office Building, same address…
Balls and a white flag everybody, send ‘em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 26th, 2007 at 4:48 pmWay to go bd. Good stuff. The other thing that the 60’s dude has failed to grasp is the thousands of us Vietnam era veterans that are WAITING for a chance to get some payback.
Case in point. The big antiwar protest in DC not long ago. Idiots like the old hippie threatened to deface the VN Vets Memorial. So 30.000+ Vets and their families (including quite a few women) showed up and dared them to try.
The guy is irrelevant. The times they have-a-changed.
All I can say is I got our military people’s back. So do my friends. I pity the fool that pulls that “baby killer” shit on our heroes in front of me or any of my other Vet friends.
June 26th, 2007 at 5:20 pmhippies, I fuckin hate hippies
love to laugh right in their faces when I encounter them, just be a total prick to them
June 26th, 2007 at 5:55 pmjay,
I suppose if they were exporting marijuana , you hippies would be for the war?
actually if we stayed in vietnam, they would be a thriving democracy by now. Now they are just working toward that end. Communism never has worked , nor will it ever work and neither has any tyranical government. Even devoted islamists get sick of having tyrants for leaders and are beginning to realize why it is that muslim countries have mostly dictators for leaders: because extreme islam is violent and foments civil war consistently through history. Extreme christianity and judaism foments normally individual protests that get violent ocassionally. some do big damage like the oklahoma city bombing , but most of society condemns such acts and root out the kooks. moderate islamists have historically given safe haven to its terrorist elements and that perpetuates the crimes and starts wars.
Look at the beginning of communism today and see what happens? Dictators, Kim jong il, lenin, pol pot, castro and now Hugo chavez: its all about the leaders and preserving their power, not the power of masses. if you are an insider you have some freedom the rest are dependent beggars. Chavez is going to turn, oil rich venezuela into a big paternalistic, welfare state. the common people will get by if they tow the chavez line, the rest will be imprisoned , tortured or killed, and chavez will be doing splendidly as he gets rid of term limits and crowns himself king of venezuela. As he shuts down opposition media, next will be the religious institutions(probably place spies in their as they do in china). speaking of china, theyir communism is not a dictatorship, yet they havce opened the door to capitalism and the people are demanding their rights. vietnam is going this way as well. they want freedom. everybody does.
and the iraqis and afghanis have learned that not only do they yearn for it, they actually have a right to it.
June 26th, 2007 at 7:46 pmGreat analysis.
Al Qauda really screwed the pooch. Why SHOULD the Sunni sheiks support them? What’s in it for them? Al Qauda doesn’t give two shits about Iraq and has nothing to offer other than yet another in a long line of repressive Islamic theocracies.
Once AQ acheives their obective they will toss the Sunni tribes by the wayside and all the money, materials, etc they give AQ won’t be worth a shit.
Great to see Al Goatfucker is digging their own grave.
June 26th, 2007 at 8:28 pmWe need to take that worthless broken-down, addled Depenz-wearing Senator/Embarassment from Indiana, haul him out behind the barn and shoot him. Then off to the glue factory with him.
I remember it was ~20 years ago when he was stabbing the late great Ron Reagan in the back…Whattacoward.
June 26th, 2007 at 9:13 pmJay, you’ve either been under a rock since the ’60’s or you’re a poser. I suspect you’re about 20 years old in your mother’s basement. By the time you turned 15 your father couldn’t stand it anymore and moved out. Whatever you are I have to trot out this link again. www.hnn.us/articles/31400.html

Insightful analysis. Two beers for you.
June 27th, 2007 at 2:15 pmThe attack of the Democrats and other scaredy-cats on the great efforts of the U.S. military and the Whitehouse is really getting vicious. It’s obvious that the Iraqis are starting to see al-Q for what they are! There’s just no sense in withdrawing now, imagine the bloodshed that will follow.
June 27th, 2007 at 11:19 pmI think they’re doing everything they can to make sure history will not look kindly on this era. And that’s just wrong, and it’s beyond cruel.
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. … God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion; what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance.”
Thomas Jefferson
Thank You NV Sailor for mentioning this. In fact, I have seen this a few times on this website.
My question is, when do we remind the rulers of this country, that we the people, preserve the spirit of resistance? When do we act on this?
Personally fucking tired of everything. When do we stand up, fight back and refresh that Tree of Liberty?
Our government has become the Rome of today by doing nothing. We need a wall. We need deportation. We need sedition charges brought up on certain people and groups. We need to drop Politcal Correctness into the abyss. We need to tell everyone who does not like the USA to piss off. Above all else, we need to win the war.
Yeah, we need a lot of shit. Refresh that Tree of Liberty and the objectives can be completed.
June 28th, 2007 at 2:37 pmI have to agree with you Jeff, most of the time I look at the politics on tv and feel like throttling someone. Political Correctness sort of snuck out of left field when no one was looking and replaced common sense and ethics. I personaly wouldn’t mind seeing some reform in how politicians are allowed to do their jobs. A pol science prof of mine gave us a figure once breaking down how the average politician spends his time in office, and I believe that there is a pretty big problem when an elected official spends more time and effort working to keep his position then actually doing the job his people voted him in to do.
June 28th, 2007 at 3:20 pmNV Sailor,
Since you brought up reform on how politicians do their jobs, I think that is a great idea. I would also like to see a reform put in place that will limit the terms of these bastards. That way, there are no more “career” politicians. I think I am pissing in the wind on that one. What did you have in mind as far as reform?
June 28th, 2007 at 3:55 pmActually, one of my bigger reform idea’s was some kind of term limits, that way the people you get in there WANT to DO the job, not just HAVE the job. Another wind pisser I’ve had in mind would be lower saleries for those in elected office, change it from free ride cash time to public servent time, like it’s supposed to be. I’d also like to see some kind of disclosure of financial transactions, to sort of keep em honost, but there’s more holes in that one then my socks…
June 30th, 2007 at 12:11 pmNW Sailor:
Good idea on term limits. How about the voters get to decide whether their elected representatives get a raise through a referendum. Do a lousy job, they get no raise.
June 30th, 2007 at 12:47 pmActually, that’s a pretty good idea Dan. During each election cycle, voters could get a choice of voting in someone else, voting to retain, and voting to retain with a pay increase, said pay increase broken up into intervals, the ammount of which is related to time in office; say 3% for first term, 4% for second, ect., with a limit that can’t be exceeded. You’d have to find a way to afford those raises without upping tax’s though, otherwise it wouldn’t work.
