We are all at war. The front is your front door. So I think it’s important that you know many of the terms of war. Besides, this is one that you are going to be hearing a lot. The military term for a carbomb is VBIED, pronounced V-Bid. It stands for Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Device. If it is detonated with the driver still in it ( usually still driving it ) it’s called an S-VBIED, pronounced, S-V-bid. S, of course, is for suicide.
And obviously forget the term “roadside bomb”. IED is the appropriate term.
