Iran has responded to the U.S. surge in Iraq with its own surge, the commander of the multinational force said Friday.

From Iran Focus:

London, Jun. 23 – The deputy commander of U.S.-led forces in Iraq accused Iran on Friday of stepping up its support for Shiite extremists responsible for attacks on the Coalition.

Lieutenant General Ray Odierno, Commander of the Multi-National Corps Iraq (MNC-I), told reporters at the Pentagon via live satellite transmission that the Coalition had recently detained 50 “high-value” individuals, a few of whom were “Shi’a extremists” that had received training in Iran — “those mostly being the mortar and rocket teams inside of Baghdad where they were trained in Iran and came in here to conduct attacks against not only coalition and Iraqi security forces, but government of Iraq targets inside of the Green Zone”.

“In terms of Iranian support to Sunnis, we have seen some indications that there has been some Iranian support and weapons to some small Sunni groups, not widespread. And again, I think it’s Iran’s attempt to continue to destabilize Iraq and inflict as many casualties as they can, frankly, on U.S. forces who are operating in Iraq. But we have not seen any increase in that. What I have seen, though, is a steady increase in support to Shi’a extremists. I think they are trying to surge their support to Shi’a extremists. We’ve seen an increased flow of training to mortar teams and rocket teams, we’ve seen an increase in some flow of weapons and munitions into Iraq. We are working very hard to cut those lines every day from Iran”, General Odierno said.

“I think it’s the [Iranian Revolutionary Guards] Qods Force working with Iraqi surrogates that work inside of Iraq. It’s probably in some cases a network that was developed prior to Saddam Hussein’s downfall and they continue to operate”, he added.

They have the blindfolds on already, now give ‘em a cigarette and and a therapeutic dose of hot lead. That is what the Geneva Convention says about how to handle armed combatants who are out of uniform…whack ‘em.

Remember guys, the fight in Iraq isn’t about Iraq…it is about cutting off the terrorists and ultimately taking down the Iraniacs.

We got enough evidence that Iran is directly involved in Iraq. When is someone in the WH going to make the connection and hand the target list to the AirForce?

Mookie keeps getting away with his shit, because no one is holding his short little Hitler ass accountable.

The solution to this calls for 51 bullets, 50 for the detainees and 1 for Al Sadr’s sweety, bearded, basketball sized head. How this guy is allowed to breathe is beyond me.

I just saw Eleanor Clift, John McLaughlin and Larry O’Donnell say on TV that “the surge has failed.” Where do they get their info? It perplexes and angers me how they can jump to a conclusion before the mission is complete.

All I’ve seen on the MSM and in the papers is “7 Americans Killed by IED”…nothing of the success of this operation. What a disgrace.

BTW, Larry Kudlow did a great monologue this AM on talk radio about the economy and how the democRATS are waging war on prosperity. They want to raise taxes and put a wet blanket on the captitalist juggernaut that is the American Economy. Has anyone out there noticed the stock market flattening out over the last 2 weeks? Kudlow relates it to the democRATS threatening to raise income taxes and change the capital gains tax. Clinton’s Secy of Treasury, Rubin, is behind it, according to Kudlow. Another fight that we must win. These democRATS have gone so far left that we may as well send them to Cuba to help Castro keep his people down. If we let them stay here, all of us will be miserable.

Isn’t it time to completely close the border where these people are coming into iraq. Kill anything that comes across..

Any supplies that enter the country are quarantined and searched AWAY from the people bringing in the stuff. After an inspection they can return and get the supplies.

Here’s the way I see it. We need to send our troops lots of Pig lard. Now everytime we kill one of these so called martyrs rub a little pig lard on them. Then they can’t go to paradise. No Virgins no wine. No nuthin. I have a nephew in indian country. I told him, “Son you pull the triger first, then ask questions. I’d much rather visit you in Levenworth then our local hero hill.

S’cool, guys. MSM is where the freaks get their news. They think the dems are speaking for all of us and they think they’re winning…. yah, get stupid in your confidence. Great ploy by the MSM, eh?
Effin better be a ploy or they’ll lose viewership to Pat and places like this.

Some of you guys are so brilliant in your words. And some so clearly heartfelt.

    hugs, j

You are exactly right GBU43. You pinpointed the worst flaw in battle strategy so far. We are treating the symptoms, not stopping the cold.
