London’s Socialist Mayor Today: Muslims Are Better Than Christians
He is unable to cite any recent Non-Muslim terror attacks, and instead refers to England’s long dormant war with the IRA. He fails to note that Wahabism is a Muslim phenemenon, not a non-Muslim one. He also fails to note that petty crime is not the problem, jihadi terrorism is. He also fails to note that the Jihadis rely on a community support structure, and that most are created by the local mosques. He also fails to provide any statistics.
LONDON (AFP) - London Mayor Ken Livingstone called on Britons Saturday not to demonize Muslims after a double car bomb plot was foiled in the capital, amid fears of an Islamist terror threat.
At the same time he criticized Britain over its ties with Saudi Arabia, which he said had fuelled intolerance in the past through its Wahhabist form of Islam, creating a “major problem.”
“In this city, Muslims are more likely to be law-abiding than non-Muslims and less likely to support the use of violence to achieve political ends than non-Muslims,” he told BBC Radio.
“They have played a good and active and growing role in creating a multi-cultural society,” he added.
He noted that terrorist acts had been carried out in London over the years by various groups including for example far-right groups. For years the British capital was wracked by violence by the Irish Republican Army (IRA).
“All I am interested in as mayor is that we try to prevent all acts of violence whether it is by a disaffected young member of the (far-right) BNP (British National Party), whether it is by an Islamist or a Wahhabist supporter,” he said.
It was crucial to understand “that that doesn’t mean that all white men are potentially a threat to society any more than all Muslims are,” he added.
But he said criticized the government’s ties with Saudi Arabia, saying it remained unclear if Riyadh had stemmed huge amounts of funding which he said flows from the country.
“We have got to understand that when we talk about the Wahhabi strand of Islam, which is very intolerant, our major problem in dealing with it is that it flows out of Saudi Arabia,” he said.
He said Wahhabi was the official religion of the Saudi royal family, and noted that Riyadh was one of the main buyers of British arms.
“For a very long time, politicians at national level were refusing to be sufficiently critical of the fact that the Saudi regime didn’t clean up its act,” he said.
“Now we are assured that they have, but there’s been decades of literally hundreds of millions of pounds flowing out of Saudi Arabia with official backing into the most intolerant strand of Islam, buying influence all over the world for it.
“I think we have to be absolutely clear that that is not still going on. I don’t have access to the sort of MI6 briefing to say whether that’s come to an end or not,” he said.
Well, now that’s one way to insure your re-election.
June 30th, 2007 at 6:52 pmI’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop and see what George Galloway has to say on the matter. Typical lefties - wether it’s gun control or acts of public violence, they can’t extend a courtesy and wait for a while but instead rush to grab the headlines, pretending to have all the answers.
June 30th, 2007 at 6:54 pmHe must have gone to the Neville Chamberlain political school as a child. Yep, like the guy said, stupidity has no shelf-life. This guy is a complete waste of life.
June 30th, 2007 at 7:02 pmCome on, you guys! He’s a fascist-socialist-liberal … He means well, and that’s what’s most important.
June 30th, 2007 at 7:13 pmHe is a Red, enough said.
June 30th, 2007 at 7:20 pmDisgusting piece of fucking pig shit. Yeah, bury your head deeper in your ass instead of seeing the truth.
June 30th, 2007 at 7:26 pmLOL drillanwr
June 30th, 2007 at 7:26 pmA fool, pure and simple. It’s bone-heads like him that are the reason we have the problem with the Muslims today. We have a large number of like minded idiots in our Congress. Mostly, though not all, on the Democratic side of the aisle.
June 30th, 2007 at 7:32 pmCan’t say I’m surprised to see this; after all, Muslims are “minorities” and Christians are the source of all problems in the eyes of the PC crowd. Amen to that, Future.
June 30th, 2007 at 7:37 pmBullet to the back of the head.
June 30th, 2007 at 8:17 pmWeird Dude. How can it be that these smug jackasses aren’t just simply kicked until the kicker is exhausted? Have the Brits become tolerant of any bad behavior, service or abuse? WTF?
June 30th, 2007 at 8:30 pmHey Pat,
You’re being rather kind to “Red Ken”.
June 30th, 2007 at 9:34 pmLet’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. He made some pretty ignorant comments, but his point about Saudi Arabia exporting Wahabbism worldwide through funding Wahabbi mosques and Wahabbi education is dead on accurate. Our petrodollars are being used against us by Saudi Arabia through its exporting their particularly virulent strain of Islam. Wahabbism is a form of Salafism, and the Salafists want to go back to how Islam was practiced in the beginning of its bloody history. They are basically Islamic fundamentalists, people who take Islam literally. Salafists are the enemy of civilization, and they are my enemy.
June 30th, 2007 at 10:06 pmHow depressing. I cannot believe so many ignorant people are defending those who do not find anything WRONG with blowing themselves up. Many Muslims (not all) believe that suicide bombing is justified! Why on earth does he seem to find non-Muslims less preferable?
June 30th, 2007 at 11:37 pmPut that stupid bitch in a burqa and club him to death!
July 1st, 2007 at 4:48 amwas this photo before or after he smelled his fingers?
July 1st, 2007 at 6:26 amRed Ken is a asslicking doucebag who couldn’t wait for an opportunity to pander to the Muslims for blowjob points. I can’t beleive all the liberal shitheads rushing to get in front of the camera to try and downplay or spin recent events.
NOW, we have CNN anchors blathering about how we “can’t be sure” it was the work of Jihadists and also dragging up the IRA for some moral equivalency horseshit. CNN even did a nice whitewash piece for Brit Terrorists, err Muslims.
Of course they showed all these “peaceful” Imams denoucing the radicals, trying to build communities, painting murals, etc. Even BBC doesn’t air that shit. Check out the BBC documentary where they went inside of mosques with hidden cameras and reporters that spoke Arabic.
July 1st, 2007 at 6:47 amAHHH, more pearls of wisdom rolling of the lips of “RED” Kenny Livingstone. Hey folks lets all declare hold hands and head for the after war party with Ken’s buddies at the Finsbury Park Mosque! Yeah I’m lining up for that one!
This doublespeak of his in this article is a prime example of what’s wrong with politicians and political correctness. OOOH let’s not offend!
The only way to combat this is to get ugly and speak the truth in regards to these matters. There is something fundamentally wrong with the Muslim population in the West. Time and time again as these attacks become more and more frequent and brazen there is no outcry from so called “moderate Muslims”.
Instead the leadership screams they are offended and say Islam is offended because the average non-Muslim assumes that the “alleged” perps are Muslims. What gives these radicals so much power is the fact that so many are afraid to challenge them and their propaganda. Until this fear of being branded as a bigot or as intolerant and apologetic pols ala “RED KENNY” are aligned with whomever lines their pockets is overcome the Jihadis are going to keep controlling the PR aspect of this War For Civilization.
July 1st, 2007 at 8:46 amif he said the same thing about muslims their would be violent protests and a fatwa would be issued against him. but us “violent” christians only criticize him. here in lies the great difference.
July 1st, 2007 at 2:13 pmWhen will the polititians in this country point the finger at Saudi Arabia for the seeds of hatred they are planting. They speak of the War on Terror and refuse, for reasons of political expediency, to point the finger at the Wahabis. Shame on Bush, shame on the Democrats and shame on the Republicans. Let us call a spade a spade!!!!
July 1st, 2007 at 4:58 pmLet us not forget who flew the planes into the WTC. Bastards all of them.
I hate to admit it, but Kipp makes a great point. When are we going to sanction the Saudis?
July 1st, 2007 at 5:21 pmUseful idiots as Lenin would call them.
Go to second picture.

July 1st, 2007 at 9:09 pmhey kipp the people who flew the planes into the wtc were mostly but not all saudis. wahhabiism itself is not to blame but the entire ideology of Islam. The saudi government like most of these dictatorial regimes, play politics while adding fuel to the eternal middle east fire discreetly. iran does it, syria, pakistan, and likely many more. i will not just blame wahabiism, islam is the cancer.
July 2nd, 2007 at 12:48 amTJ,
You are preaching to the choir for the most part. I view ALL organized religion as a cancer. Religions tend to go in cycles however. How long after the birth of Christ did we see acts of terriorism commited by Christians (i.e. Spanish reconquista, Spanish in the Americas, inquisition, religious wars in Europe)? Around 1400 years. If Mohammed lived around 620 what do you get when you add those two numbers together. Interesting, huh? Islam, like Christianity and Jeudaism needs a reformation. If historical timetables are any indication we have just over 100 years to wait.
As far as Saudi Arabia goes there are two faces to the regime, the political and the religious. These are carried out not by the same group of people but by very different characters. The Wahabis are spreading their filth throughout the Muslim world on a separate tract than the institutional government. When our government deals with their government, the Saudi government can put the best face on their cooperation because they are distinct from the Wahabi clerics. This gets us back to my original point. Are we fighting the global war on terror or aren’t we?
