Yemen: It Was Al Qaeda
Yemeni police were hunting on Tuesday the masterminds of a suicide car bombing which killed seven Spanish tourists and two Yemeni drivers, after officials said it was clearly the work of Al-Qaeda.
Monday’s bombing at an ancient temple in the restive region of Marib was the worst attack against Westerners in the impoverished Gulf country since the Al-Qaeda bombing of the USS Cole in 2000, when 17 US sailors were killed.
Spain, still mourning the loss of six peacekeepers in a car bombing in Lebanon late last month, was expected to send a plane with senior officials to collect the remains of the dead later Tuesday.
Spanish judicial authorities also announced they would “open terrorism proceedings” after receiving a briefing from the justice and foreign ministries.
“Preliminary information indicates that the Al-Qaeda organisation is behind the cowardly attack,” a Yemeni interior ministry official told the state Saba news agency on Monday.
A suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into the tourists’ convoy as they were wrapping up a tour of a temple in Marib which dates back 3,000 years, to the time of the biblical Queen of Sheba.
In addition to the nine people killed, six Spanish tourists and two Yemenis were wounded.
The ministry official said the convoy which was carrying 13 tourists was attacked by an “explosives-laden car driven by a suicide terrorist.”
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
“Security agencies will not relent in tracking down all the terrorist elements who stand behind this terrorist criminal act and putting them on trial so they receive a deterrent punishment,” the interior ministry said.
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh was addressing reporters on Tuesday about the threat facing his country, an impoverished, tribal land that is the ancestral home of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Yemen has been battling a committed domestic Al-Qaeda organisation featuring extremists on the US list of most-wanted terrorists, including convicted masterminds of the USS Cole bombing.
US special forces based over the Bab al-Mandab strait in Djibouti have been helping track and kill Al-Qaeda extremists in Yemen.

It is all a subterfuge planned and created by the evil conservatives and Republicans. All we need to do is convert the entire world to Shari’a law, and then we will all be able to live in peace. Except for those who are beheaded, tortured, maimed, jailed for any slighted perceived imfraction of Shari’a law, which of course will be interpreted by those who prefer to live in the 7th century.

spain is former muslim territory prior to the crusades. once muslim, always muslim, whether they were in the war in iraq or not they are targets of islamists.

We are in direct armed conflict with AQ in Iraq, which I think is preferable to fighting them directly in the streets of the US.
One thing most people miss, especially idiot d’rats and the soros whores is that we wanted to fight those fuckers there and not here. The Bush policy has been brilliant in the fact that we are over there killing them, and they are going over there to get killed.
