Breaking: Al Qaida In Iraq Leader Captured
According to Fox News’ David MacDougall in Baghdad, the military has told him “He is singing like a bird, and his intel has already led to the killing of an Al Qaeda leader in Baghdad.”

The highest-ranking Iraqi in the leadership of al Qaida in Iraq has been arrested, the US command said.
Officials said information from him indicated the group’s foreign-based leadership wielded considerable influence over the Iraqi chapter.
Khaled Abdul-Fattah Dawoud Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, also known as Abu Shahid, was captured in Mosul on July 4, said Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner, a military spokesman.
“Al-Mashhadani is believed to be the most senior Iraqi in the al Qaida in Iraq network,” Bergner said. He said al-Mashhadani was a close associate of Abu Ayub al-Masri, the Egyptian-born head of al Qaida in Iraq.
Bergner said al-Mashhadani served as an intermediary between al-Masri and Osama bin Laden and al Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri.
“In fact, communication between the senior al Qaida leadership and al-Masri frequently went through al-Mashhadani,” Bergner said.
“Along with al-Masri, al-Mashhadani co-founded a virtual organisation in cyberspace called the Islamic State of Iraq in 2006,” Bergner said. “The Islamic State of Iraq is the latest efforts by al Qaida to market itself and its goal of imposing a Taliban-like state on the Iraqi people.”
In internet postings, the Islamic State of Iraq has identified its leader as Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, with al-Masri as minister of war. There are no known photos of al-Baghdadi.
Bergner said al-Mashhadani had told interrogators that al-Baghdadi was a “fictional role” created by al-Masri and that an actor was used for audio recordings of speeches posted on the internet.
“In his words, the Islamic State of Iraq is a front organisation that masks the foreign influence and leadership within al Qaida in Iraq in an attempt to put an Iraqi face on the leadership of al Qaida in Iraq,” Bergner said.
The Arab version of THE WIZARD of Oz. The dummacrat viewpoint is getting weaker each day. More good news for the White House plan of action. I’ll be counting the airtime MSM gives this story. It’ll be downplayed I’m sure.
July 18th, 2007 at 4:23 amI think it would be a nice gesture if Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or ANY one of the very vocal dhimmicRATS offered to hold him at their home, so he doesn’t have to go to that gawd aweful Gitmo …
July 18th, 2007 at 4:37 amAw c’mon Drillanwr the dhims are too busy making smores. They don’t have time for things like the GWOT. At least not until they turn in their little blanky’s for the night?
July 18th, 2007 at 4:50 amOur guys are doing exceptional things all along and they never get the credit they deserve. Excellent report to wake up to today Pat! Way to go to all our MEN! It would be really nice to see the mainstream media choke and report the truth for a change. I agree with drillanwr that they should hold these captured terrorists at their homes to make sure they are not mistreated. After all they are mostly worried about them - the ones who target women, children, and innocent civilians.
July 18th, 2007 at 4:52 amI was a bit surprised he was not dressed as a woman and trying to flee like so many others when they captured him!
July 18th, 2007 at 4:55 amLet’s all hope that one of our CIA guys plants a lead slug in his head AFTER he goes through some “rough” interrogation. Heck if I want my tax $$ going to feed this piece of camel crap.
July 18th, 2007 at 5:21 amYou mean to tell me al Qaida would lie to it’s own Muslim homies? Wow. Imagine that!
July 18th, 2007 at 5:25 amSandyK -
Burka Burka … or as Dan would say, durka durka!
July 18th, 2007 at 5:26 amHMMM, didn’t see that on ABC
July 18th, 2007 at 5:28 amTop al-Qaida in Iraq Figure Captured…
Of course, it will be downplayed or dismissed, and the timing questioned by those currently employing the fullcourt press to cut and run. Still, a sliver of good news in a ocean of negativity….
July 18th, 2007 at 6:00 amFuck yeah! Poor AQ bastards, they are Allah’s misguided children. Never knew what they were going to face up against; the best best fighting force man has ever put together.
July 18th, 2007 at 6:23 amI hope we were able to have some tea and discuss our differences in the non existent, bumper sticker slogan war on terror.
or if it was to me, get “medieval on his ass”
then just shoot him in the head like a rabid dog in the street
July 18th, 2007 at 6:44 amif i am not mistake, this is exactly the very thing pat, said would happen

July 18th, 2007 at 6:46 amoff to club gitmo to fatten him up and give him a much needed vacation before the democrats have him released
July 18th, 2007 at 6:48 amDon’t let up America. Attack and concquer THROUGH the objective. Great job to the fighting soldiers!
July 18th, 2007 at 8:31 amAnd this from CNN:
“The arrest of al-Mashadani was announced amid controversy over President Bush’s contention that al Qaeda and al Qaeda in Iraq are one and the same. The evidence has been not been significant about the extent of the relationship.”
What fucking controversy? Who says so? Oh yeah that’s the MSM’s view of the issue. Shit like this capture gives the MSM headaches at night. But already they’re tying to put a spin on it.
Can’t hide the truth MSM. Keep trying though. Maybe they can join the rest of the children in Congress for their next slumber party?
July 18th, 2007 at 10:24 amIsn’t this like the 3rd AQ leader in Iraq that we’ve gotten?
July 18th, 2007 at 10:38 amGreat work, guys!
(Don’t bother taking him to Gitmo, if you know what I mean and I think that you do!)
Since the defeaticrats wanted to be out of Iraq a year ago-
should would take all the Al Qaeda terrorists we have captured since then and put them into witness protection in Harry Reid’s neighborhood?
July 18th, 2007 at 10:58 amThe fact that he’s singing like a bird confirms my belief that these guys are pansys. But not near the candyasses that dumocrats are.
Anyone who reads this and is still a registered democrat really needs to think about why in name of sanity they belong to an organization like the democrat party.
July 18th, 2007 at 11:02 amAll you neoconned assholes need to enlist in the military or shut the fuck up right the fuck now. Don’t you stupid excuses for Ummarikins realize this entire war is being waged on a LIE??!??!
July 18th, 2007 at 11:43 amDwarm:
For your information, most of the people in here are either in the military or have spend many years in the military when it was their turn to serve.

July 18th, 2007 at 5:28 pmDwarm:
