LOL: U.S. Hopes Iran Meeting Will Show Results This Time
Based on what?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States hopes a meeting between the U.S. and Iranian envoys to Iraq will push Tehran to change its behavior in Iraq even though their last meeting showed no tangible results, the State Department said on Monday.
“One would hope you would see a change in Iranian behavior. I can’t tell you whether or not we will see that. It is up to the Iranians,” said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack of the proposed meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday.
“We are going to raise the need for Iran to match its actions with its words in seeking strategic stability in Iraq,” he told reporters.
Washington accuses Shi’ite Muslim Iran of stoking violence in Iraq by backing militants. Iran denies the charges and blames the U.S.-led invasion of 2003 for the bloodshed.
Tuesday’s meeting between Iranian ambassador Hassan Kazemi-Qomi and U.S. ambassador Ryan Crocker follows a similar one in Baghdad on May 28 in what was the highest-profile contact in almost three decades between the two countries.
U.S. officials said that meeting did not lead to any tangible change in Iran’s behavior but the U.S. view is that talks should continue.
“We have not seen any change in Iranian behavior but as I said before, we had in mind that it might require one or more meetings to see some potential change in Iranian behavior. It is not a foregone conclusion,” McCormack said.
He said Tuesday’s meeting would again be limited to discussing Iraq and would not touch on other issues such as Iran’s nuclear ambitions or the detention of three Iranian-American academics by Tehran as well as a radio reporter prevented from returning to the United States.
“This is an opportunity for direct engagement on measures solely related to Iraq,” said McCormack.
Asked whether it was a missed opportunity not to discuss the case of the detained Iranian-Americans during the envoys’ meeting, McCormack replied: “It is a missed opportunity not to allow these people to leave (Iran) for the past two months.”
U.S. authorities have been holding five Iranians in Iraq since January and Tehran has, in turn, demanded their release.
The U.S. military says the five are linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and were backing militants in Iraq while Iran has insisted they are diplomats.
LOL is right! the perfect description of this is insanity. why do the people who are currently killing US and Iraqi forces get the privelege of sitting down at a table and treated with any kind of respect? can anyone answer that? sure i can understand that we have to at least look like we’re making an attempt to give them chances to reform but come on, lets face it, any type of action we choose to take against the Iranian regime would be perfectly justified

There’s an even bigger version of MOAB. Hasn’t been tested. It exists. But is something like 3/4 of a small 1KT nuke in power. It is a conventional fuel air bomb.At least that was the wire report about a year ago, when testing was cancelled because of civilian noise complaints, and possible mass shattering of windows in surrounding communities.

Here’s what they should tell the Iranians:
1. You have 15 minutes to release the Iranian/Americans you hold hostage. (15 Minutes later, if not released, we take out their nuke facility.)
2. You have 24 hours to get all of your Iranian operatives out of Iraq. (24 hours later, since we can’t know how many are there, we take out the Iranian parliament. Hopefully, Ackmadinnerjerk is there.)
3. You have 48 hours to get all Syrian subversives out of Lebanon. (48 Hour later, take out Assad’s palaces one by one.)
You get the drill. I’m sure some of you can come up with some sharper talking points.

No Your points are well taken. We don’t need fancy words. That shit is for diplomats. Good job.
July 23rd, 2007 at 1:31 pmDiplomats. The crowd we have currently are bureaucratic asshats, liberals, commies, Politically Correct cowards.
“Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional,
illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous
mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”
