Al Qaeda Panicking At Losses In Egypt

‘Al Qaeda in Egypt failing?’
Al-Qaeda web forum casts concerned eye at Egyptian crackdown on Islamists and ‘inadequate jihad’
Under a posting entitled “jihad for the people of Egypt,” one member, Abu Isaac, wrote: “There is concern for our brothers in Egypt due to the wave of arrests in Egypt and the displacement of their families…
“The question is, where is the jihad in Egypt heading? Is the jihad in Egypt inadequate?” His question sparked a stormy discussion among Islamist forum members.
On member from Tunisia told the forum said that Egypt was guilty of leading the entire Islamic world away from Islam. “The calamities come from there! Yes! Films, songs and movies, where do they come from? Here in Tunis, (secular) ‘artists’ go to Egypt to get their fame,” he said.
An Egyptian member angrily replied: “Who told you that the Egyptian people spoiled the Islamic peoples? Perhaps you did not hear that Alexandria was a heavily Islamic city where 25 percent of the population is bearded. The Egyptian mosques are full of these days… Egypt has not led the people astray and I do not want accusations from you in Tunisia, which forbade the veil.”
Meanwhile, the Egyptian state prosecutor has charged 18 people of being members of the Muslim Brotherhood over the weekend, following arrests in east Cairo.
The website of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt quoted a lawyer as saying: “The decision to arrest citizens was made before presenting them to prosecutors and before an investigation was made. This affirms the existence of a premeditate plot (by the Egyptian authorities).”
Sure, grow a beard, it makes it easier to figure out who to shoot.
July 30th, 2007 at 12:31 amEgypt got along for four thousand years without islam, it could get along for another four thousand years without it, also. In ancient times the world flocked to the library in Alexandria, too bad Ceasar accidently burned it down, but, he didn’t mean to, to learn about the best the world had to offer then. The “bruthahood” is but a pot hole in the grand scheme of Egypt’s life.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:55 amYet another reason that I could never be a muslim…I am in my thirties and still can not grow a beard!
July 30th, 2007 at 4:54 amThe story within the story is Egypt’s counter-jihadi program that is taking hold in Eqpytian prisons. The people behind this are more interested in steering the Islamic world away from military jihad, than in doing away with Islam.
It’s another case of an Islamic country not being Islamic enough for AQ & Co.
Good points J.C. Eqypt got along fine for four millenia without Islamic Jihadis telling them what to do. WTF would Eqypt need them now?
July 30th, 2007 at 6:12 amTo J.Cunningham- For the record, the fire in Alexandria may have been started due to the war with Ceasar, but it cannot be proven that the Romans burnt down the library themselves. Islamic radicals were around from the very beginning. They are not a new group or concept. There is another theory which many academic scholars acknowledge- that it was the radical muslims who seized the opportunity to burn down the library. The extremists, like many who teach in the madrassas, believe the Koran should be the only and sole book taught, read, studied and memorized. Any book outside of this is just heretical information that needs to be censored and/or destroyed.
