Al Qaeda Threatens Iran With “Severe War”
CAIRO, Egypt: The leader of an al-Qaida umbrella group in Iraq warned Iran in a new audiotape released Sunday to stop supporting Shiites in Iraq, giving leaders in the neighboring country two months to sever ties or they would face a “severe war.”
Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, who leads the Islamic State in Iraq, said his Sunni fighters have been preparing for four years to wage a battle against Shiite-dominated Iran.
“We are giving the Persians, and especially the rulers of Iran, a two month period to end all kinds of support for the Iraqi Shiite government and to stop direct and indirect intervention … otherwise a severe war is waiting for you,” he said in the 50-minute audiotape. The tape, which could not be independently verified, was posted on a Web site commonly used by insurgent groups.
Iraq’s Shiite-led government is backed by the U.S. but closely allied to Iran. The United States accuses Iran of arming and financing Shiite militias in Iraq — charges Tehran denies.
In the recording, al-Baghdadi also gave Sunnis and Arab countries doing business in Iran or with Iranians a two-month deadline to cease their ties.
We advise and warn every Sunni businessman inside Iran or in Arab countries especially in the Gulf not to take partnership with any Shiite Iranian businessman — this is part of the two-month period,” he said.
Al-Baghdadi said his group was responsible for two suicide truck bomb attacks in May in Iraq’s northern Kurdish region, saying the attacks in Irbil and Makhmur were an example the “Islamic jihad,” or holy war, was progressing in the Kurdish areas.
At least 14 people were killed when a suicide truck bomb struck a government building in Irbil, Kurdistan’s capital, on May 9. Four days later in Makhmur, another suicide truck bomb tore through the offices of a Kurdish political party, killing 50 people.
In the recording, the Islamic State of Iraq leader did not mention Saturday’s deadly truck bomb in Armili, a Shiite town north of Baghdad, that killed more than 100 people. The attack was among the deadliest this year in Iraq and reinforced suspicions that al-Qaida extremists were moving north to less protected regions beyond the U.S. security crackdown in Baghdad.
But al-Baghdadi criticized Kurdish leaders for their alliance with Shiites in Iraq’s government and accused them encouraging unsavory morals.
“The leaders of apostasy … have impeded the march of Islam in Muslim Kurdistan and helped communism and secularism to spread. … They insulted the religious scholars … encouraged vices and women without veils,” he said in the recording.

What the heck? Is this just a new way to create chaos and give cover for Iran to attack in Iraq? Or???
July 8th, 2007 at 7:25 pmIts like a wounded dog striking out at everything.. I smiled when I read this.
July 8th, 2007 at 7:51 pmallahu akbar: a house divided against itself can not stand. shia -sunni war is perfect. dumb vs dumber, evil fighting evil, I have always said the best jihad is a muslim muslim jihad. we shouldnt support either side or maybe a litle for both top assure that they kill enough of each other that they become severly weakened!
al qada just doesnt like anybody do they?
July 8th, 2007 at 8:01 pmTribe against tribe, faction vs denomination, if this isn’t
July 8th, 2007 at 8:02 pma religious war, what is it?
Islam is exactly what we see here and on Yon’s site
and it’s the thing that needs to be removed. They teach that lying is ok (if it’s to us). I was going to say “separate church from state” but Islam would only see that as a new target of Jihad, so the belief in Islam is what needs to be wared upon. There is no peaceful Islam unless you’ve become
one of them
Having Iran being attacked by terrorist groups would be just too fookin rich! Yes, go get ‘em, great Mujadeen Warriors of Allah!
July 8th, 2007 at 8:26 pmthis is reminiscent of the Bloods and the Crips going killing each other off and the LAPD sitting on the sidelines letting them go at it. I’m all for it!!
July 8th, 2007 at 8:36 pmThis is BS PR to try to deflect some of the spot light we have shown down on their ties to each other. It will play to the LLL’s and their own zealots of course as proof positive.
Iran in one fail swoop could hand over to the Big Satan nearly half the AQ leadership including Bin Ladens Son/air and more. The idea they are gunning for each other is a lame myth that “Sunni Shia never work together” BS.
Explain to me why AQ has not assasinated no Top tier Mehdi Army? Why Mehdi Army has not assasinated no AQ top tier? Why no strikes on each others safe house or hubs weapons stores? Why no open warefare between the sets in the streets? Think these two groups don’t know were the other sh*ts? Think two gangs don’t know were the opposing clicks turf is were they hang out? BS These two groups only attacks the opposing sects innocent or moderate civilians forcing the fence setters to join the others clicks resulting in tit for tat were both sides Radicals grow in strength while getting their real enemies the Moderates eliminated in the process.
I don’t buy the they hate each other never work together stuff, one day after the Big and Little Satan are dead will those two fight each other over who will run things after the fact maybe but today when “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” applies for a much more dangerous enemy Big/Little Satan? Why did we support Soviet Russia in WW2 then immediately following turn our sights onto them as the enemy?
July 8th, 2007 at 8:37 pmTake off the bitch gloves and fight then! Don’t just talk shit and do nothing to back it, Al-Qaeda.
lol this ought to be interesting.
July 8th, 2007 at 8:42 pmcool, lets run some covert attacks inside iran and blame aq, a dirty nuke bomb in tehran would be a hoot
July 8th, 2007 at 9:22 pmBakalah, Muhammed Jihad! BAKALAH MUHAMMED, JIHAD! Oh, durqua durqua, sherpa! Lol, its not like they have any regard for other muslims to begin with, so I wouldn’t doubt they’re willing to attack Iran.
July 8th, 2007 at 9:24 pmSteve in NC,
No matter how desirable that type of action that may feel we can not consider this type of action ever. There is no precedent to go this low yet. We are way more creative than that! Do what’s not expected.
July 8th, 2007 at 11:48 pm“Why did we support Soviet Russia in WW2 then immediately following turn our sights onto them as the enemy?”
actually they supported us against the nazi’s.
we supported afghanis against tghe soviets. we supported saddamites against iran etc etc. we fight those who most threaten us at the time.
but islamists fight whoever they deem not to be muslim so i cant put it past them to fight each other while they are fighting america or israel. since the advent of islam they have been killing muslims and non muslims alike. look at the fact that many sunnis fight with the us against AQ. Islam is different , there is no common sense in the western sense.
Muhammed was at pains to explain how some muslims might not be real muslims at heart and outlined how to kill non-muslims and apostates alike. to sunnis shia are apostates, therefor ethey are the enemy as well.
if i were in iraq and had the ear of clerics i would be spreading rumors amongst them to get them to fight each other, they are dumb enough to fall for it.
look in pakistan, the woman across the street was allegedly running a brothel, there was no evidence only rumors and that is enough for the fanatics to see that “justice is done” . even when the government allows shariah law, individuals take it upon themselves to be judge and jury against those deemed sinners.
pathetic religion really.
July 8th, 2007 at 11:49 pmI’m weary of this new twist. I don’t think it means what many of us assume it does. I wouldn’t put to much faith in the source of that kind of statement about Al Q going after Iran.
It sounds a little like someone is intending on setting up the pre-text for USA-Iran war conspiracy. This may be a ruse that allows Iran to create propaganda that states that Al Q is actually controlled by the US. So,if we accept this Trojan story into our MSM and something does go down inside Iran. This will not be spun by Iran in our favor. It will be propagandized as an example that the USA controls A.Q. and has all along. Americans my not by this but the Arab world will.
July 9th, 2007 at 12:31 amFuck me this almost reminds me of the protocol of NZ mental hospitals in the 1950’s when a fire broke out.
July 9th, 2007 at 2:58 am“Stand back and when the last one is standing go in and hit them over the head and drag out all remaining patients.”
Give them all the room they need, and go in and hit the last one over the head indeed! Whats changed?
Sorry these aint locked up loonies.Or are they?
So much for “the enemy of my enemy…”
I say we arm them both, stand back, and let them go at it!
(Just kidding, of course.)
July 9th, 2007 at 4:02 amSteve in NC has my vote for CIA Chief. Thinking like that is what I’m talkin’ about!
July 9th, 2007 at 5:20 amNo doubt AQ is behind the bombings of Shia Mosques. Aren’t they the asshats that started the sunni-shia skirmish in the first place?
I doubt that AQ would diss their money-makers in Iran. At least not yet. Once their Jihad is over, then maybe they’ll duke it out: one apostate to another apostate.
Until then, it is the enemy of my enemy hard at work.
What we need to do is teach the Iraqis another old proverb: “Me and my brother against my cousin. But me, my brother and cousin against our neighbor.”
One other thing:
C-Low: We didn’t choose to make the Soviets our enemy after WWII. That was Stalin’s first choice. Not ours.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:19 amI can picture the scene…..
Opening scene: The camera slowly pans across a large sprawling city, where, in the distance, a blackish blue plume of thick smoke hangs in the air. The camera now pans a few more feet to the left, where the audience can now see a reporter standing, so he and the smoke can be seen on the same screen.
The reporter, in his early thirties, wearing a flak jacket (although there isn’t a firearm to be found in the area, but he likes to wear it, because it makes him look “bitchin”) now speaks with great authority…
“This is Ben DirtyUndies coming to you LIVE from Tehran where a tremendous explosion rocked this quaint, sleepy little city that the locals here refer to as the ‘City of brotherly love’.”
Scene change: The camera now mysteriously teleports outside of a mosque (although this is supposed to be ‘live’) that is on fire.
Ben again speaks…
“At 3pm, Tehrani time, a freedom fighter slammed his Merceded Benz into the al-Quack Mosque, a revered meeting place of the revered Mahmud AHMADI-NEJAD, who constantly comes to this mosque for prayers.”
Scene: The camera now zooms in on the burned out beige Mercedes that is rammed into the entrance of the mosque…
Ben again opens his pie hole…
“At this moment, 27,147 different organizations have claimed responsibility for this latest blast in this quaint, sleepy little city that the locals here refer to as the ‘City of brotherly love’. But authorities are hoping for a positive identification of the freedom fighter who drove into this most holy of holies shrine. It seems by a strange twist of fate, as the vehicle hit the entrance at the same time it exploded. But the driver’s airbag deployed, causing the face to escape the fiery devilish blast.”
The camera now zooms in on the remains of the driver, and there are two mullahs standing over the body, studying the face.
Ben again injects his rhetoric…
“Local clerics have been called in, in hopes of helping quell the possible backlash that is sure to follow. They are also trying to help the authorities identify the freedom fighter.”
Scene change: The camera zooms in close to the two mullahs who are now standing up. Their faces are heavy in grief as they try to console each other. The microphone on the came picks up their conversation, which, due to be in a foreign language, goes completely by the film geniuses.
————————————
This airs, but the last part is edited out. Why? Because of the conversation:
Mad mullah #1: How could he do this to such a holy place! How?! How?!
Mad Mullah #2: Forget that, Maquabara, how could he do that to an E350 Sedan with 7-speed automatic transmission, a 268-horsepower V-6, 10-way power adjustable front seats, Burl Walnut high-gloss wood, 12-speaker digital surround sound, 18-inch alloy wheels, a lowered sport-tuned suspension, dual chrome tailpipes, plus Black Birdseye Maple wood trim and white-color gauges! He could have saved 12 grand by going with something in the C-Class series and still have the same amount of storage space!!! Oh, the inhumanity!!!
