Islamic Jihad Military Commander Killed

An IAF air strike killed a Hamas operative in southern Gaza before nightfall Thursday, Hamas officials said. Three other operatives were wounded. The IDF had no immediate comment.
Earlier Thursday, a senior commander of the Islamic Jihad was killed - alongside two other operatives - in an IAF air strike on his car in Gaza City. The attack came two days after the commander survived an previous assassination attempt.
Security officials said that, Omar Khatib, 32, was behind the recent foiled kidnap attempt by the Islamic Jihad near the Kissufim Crossing when three terrorists driving a TV-marked jeep infiltrated into Israel. Khatib, the officials said, was also responsible for dozens of Kassam rocket and mortar attacks on the western Negev.
Palestinians said that Khatib was head of the Islamic Jihad’s military wing in Gaza. On Tuesday, the IAF bombed a building in Gaza in what was a failed assassination attempt on Khatib.
Also on Thursday, an IAF aircraft killed a Hamas operative who was aiming to fire an RPG at a Golani force operating inside the Gaza Strip, north of the Sufa Crossing and east of Khan Younis. The troops discovered several weapon caches and clashed with a number of armed gunmen, wounding five.
In one incident, Israeli aircraft fired a missile toward a car carrying Islamic Jihad gunmen, lightly injuring three, Islamic Jihad said. Later, troops targeted a pair of terrorists about to fire Kassam rockets in northern Gaza. The two were wounded, Hamas said. Two Kassam rockets were also fired Thursday into the western Negev.
Meanwhile Thursday, a Palestinian was killed near the settlement of Tekoa in the West Bank after he tried stabbing a soldier with a 25-cm long knife. The IDF said that the 20-year-old Palestinian approached a soldier and tried to stab him. A scuffle erupted between the two and another soldier who feared that if he opened fire he would injure his comrade, took out a club and hit the Palestinian in the head. The Palestinian was seriously wounded and died of his wounds.

I’m glad to see the Israelis back at this strategy of picking off the top melons one by one. When they did that a year and a half ago…Paleswine became as silent as a morgue. It’s amazing how six to ten terrorist leaders leaving this world as a charcoal briquet will zip the lips of the whole bunch of these abhoritions.
