Eventually, I learned the joys of killing. But I’m skipping ahead of myself. I landed in Iraq in November 2004 armed with a video camera instead of a weapon...

Good post ...

Personally, I am looking foward to the impending meltdown of the Democrat party in September and it will be thoroughly satisfying to me to see all the liberals heads explode right off their shoulders.

Well said, Steve! With the latest news from the NYT that the war is going well and is "winnable" I wonder if the candidates will try to portray themselves as misunderstood patriots who were rooting for our side all along?

Good post Steve,
I agree - Each time we see success in Iraq, were going to see more B.S. & revisionist lies.

"Personally, I am looking foward to the impending meltdown of the Democrat party in September and it will be thoroughly satisfying to me to see all the liberals heads explode right off their shoulders"

As am I. Continued success in Iraq exposes the left's penchant of rooting for our enemies. You know it's a sad day in La La land when the NYT reports the surge is working!! I'll bet the editors of that liberal rag were sick to their stomachs for having to report it!

Good to put a face to the name.
I’ve finally figured out what liberalism is all about: control. They want total control (”power”) over everything. They use anything and everything for politcal gain, no matter what it is. They will sell out their country for power. They are control freaks. They want to tell you what kind of a washing machine you can buy, what kind of a car you can drive, no smoking because they said so, impose their morality on you, and so on. The anti-war thing is because they generally don’t believe in war, and they want total control over the government so they can make sure we never have war, dam the consequences. They will say or do anything for the control, which is why you are able to catch them in so many contradictions of their own pronouncements. That’s why they so resemble Stanlinsts–totalitarians. Because they are control freaks. Guess what--I hate control freaks, ESPECIALLY when they try to control me!

I'd add these comments fresh from the Sage of South Central:

"Recall that for a brief period of time, our military did, in fact, locate WMD. The story almost immediately became discounted, as the "WMD" turned out to be old and worn, unlikely to pose any threat. My friend, an actor, told me that he and several other actors were on a set working together. One said, "F---, they found the WMD!" Not, "Hey, I might have to reconsider my opposition to the war because our military found WMD." Or, "I feel relieved about the war, the president was right." Or, "The discovery of the WMD shows that we did, indeed, face the possibility of Saddam handing off the WMD to a terrorist or even using the stuff himself on America or American interests." But, no. The near-unanimous reaction – my friend kept his mouth shut – was, "That bleeping Bush was right."

This brings us to more unpleasant recent news – at least, if you consider the Iraq war a "quagmire."

Worldwide Muslim support for homicide bombing, according to a recent Pew Global Attitudes survey, shows a dramatic decline. In Lebanon, in 2002, 74 percent of the population agreed that homicide bombings were "often" or "sometimes justified." Now only 34 percent feel this way. Support in Pakistan dropped from 33 percent to 9 percent. Similar jaw-dropping declines were found in Bangladesh and Indonesia. In seven of the eight Muslim countries surveyed, support for homicide bombings declined.

How about some love for Bush, who, after all, now seems, at least a bit, like a uniter, not a divider?

More "bad" news.

"Support for initial invasion has risen, poll shows," ran the headline in a major American newspaper. Support for the war, at 35 percent in May, now registers at 42 percent, a 20 percent increase. The next day, the newspaper explained on its website, "The war in Iraq is the single most important ongoing news story right now. Public opinion about the war is a critical part of that story. That's why when we had a poll finding about the war that we could not explain, we went back and did another poll on the very same subject. We wanted to make sure we had gotten it right."

But stunned by the poll results, the paper ran a second poll to confirm the results. Its explanation: "The July numbers represented a change. It was counterintuitive." Apparently, so counterintuitive that, after calling the Iraq war "the single most important ongoing news story," the paper reported the uptick in support for the war on page A-9.

Now for the Iraqi "surge."

Gen. David Petraeus, the head of U.S. forces in Iraq – confirmed unanimously by the Senate – recently said of the surge, "[W]e have achieved what we believe is a reasonable degree of tactical momentum on the ground, gains against the principal near-term threat, al-Qaida Iraq, and also gains against what is another near-term threat, and also potentially the long-term threat: Shia militia extremists."

In an article headlined "Al-Qaida faces rebellion from the ranks," the London Times writes, "[D]ozens of low-level members of al-Qaida in Iraq are daring to become informants for the U.S. military in a hostile Baghdad neighborhood. The groundbreaking move in Doura is part of a wider trend that has started in other al-Qaida hotspots across the country and in which Sunni insurgent groups and tribal sheikhs have stood together with the coalition against the extremist movement."

Oh, one more thing. The consumer confidence index just reached a six-year high. "

There must be an unrelenting reminder. We're dealing with a population that does have a job and many have families and they have to sleep sometime and there has been an unrelenting assault of them by the main scream media. Keep hitting them with the facts. The facts have to be turned into sound bites, economy of words is essential. You know they hover around sites such as this and it will eventually sink in and word will get around. Elections are a year and a half away.
