Pakistan: Concern over nukes as al Qaeda camps empty

Red agencies/ districts controlled by the Taliban; purple is defacto control; yellow is under threat.

US intelligence investigates Pakistan’s nuclear security and the military’s loyalty to Musharraf as the Northwest Frontier Province spins further out of control

As the security situation in the Northwest Frontier Province continues to deteriorate and President Pervez Musharraf’s political stock continues to drop, the US military intelligence community is “urgently assessing how secure Pakistan’s nuclear weapons would be in the event President Gen. Pervez Musharraf were replaced.” Meanwhile, the Taliban and al Qaeda have dispersed operatives from the training camps in the Northwest Frontier Province and are preparing to fight on their own terms.

    I remember a report that osama & co moved out of their nests right before the 9/11 strike. Wonder if this is the same thing, because if we get hit with a nuclear / dirty bomb by these fucks, we could likely just toast warzzy land in retaliation.

    I think we are due for somekind of hit, it would tie in well with the d’rats move to discredit the Bush administration, esp. during the run up to the September report. Why did they give Petraeus until September anyway? To make time?

    I still want to know the reason pelosi met with basher over there, she is a fucking traitor, we know it by her actions here, so why would she be any different when meeting with a leader of a state sponsor of terror and an enemy of our nation? I think the d’rats will do anything for power.

    follow up thought on above, the new attacks will not be in Iraq, for that will support the need to stay there, the attacks will be domestic and or in Pakistan to reinforce the d’rats positions and help expedite our pull out of the middle east.

    I gotta question here, maybe someone can clear this up for me.

    If we know that the terrorists are clearing out of their camps, how do we know that? is it by satellite and UAV imagery? if so, and we are watching them on the move, why in the bloody hell are we not hitting them as we watch them? is that too insensitive or something?

    God, but I’m getting tired of this politically correct warfighting…we’re going to lose a city or two because of our concern about offending the beasts among us.

    Steve in NC,

    I agree . Just look at what Kerry said when he was over there. He should have been put in shackles as soon as he landed back here in the States.
    Damn all these Politicians !!! :evil:

    Steve, I partially disagree. I think that the primary reason that thare haven’t been any major domestic attacks since September 11th, 2001, is that Al Qaeda understands the political ramifications of attacking us now. They want their allies to win power in the next elections. If they can get the appeasement party in power, they can further their agenda. Their most likely target will be Israel, to consolidate Muslim support for their vision and ideology. Secondary targets will include London, New York, Riyadh, maybe Dubai. Remember, our enemy isn’t stupid, just evil, and crazy.

    I’d be completely disgusted if this scenario hasn’t been well hashed out for years by our Military. If the Musharraf Gov’t falls, India would be the first in. They would likely launch a preemptive strike on the nuke facilities at least, possibly others. I hope for everyone’s sake we’re talking to India about this too.

    (we probably are talking to them - but insisting they do NOTHING) Quite a world.

    If Musharaff were smart he’d hand over his nukes to us in the event that he is unable to hold on to power. He seems unable or unwilling to do that which is necessary to break the stranglehold that the Islamofacists have on his country.

    So where are the muj going next? They know that they can’t handle the Americans. The easiest targets are isolated Afghani police outposts and Pakistani military positions.

    The smart money in my view is a large-scale attack on the Paki military with an eye towards overthrowing Musharaff and taking control of his nukes.

    An attack against the US would be suicidal. But it might make the demoratz happy. In that event, they could play the blame GW game and hope to score points with the American voters.

    Hopefully, AQ and their associated child molesters will get really stupid and we can kill large numbers of them. Allah will be happy to see so many of his little slaves when they all drop in for a permanent visit to the dungeons of hell.

    @ jaybear > satellites can’t hit targets, and not all UAV’s pack Hellfires….pity, that.
    As for not hitting ‘em on by air or ground forces, I’d bet that even b. hussein obama could answer that by now… :wink:

    A few things struck me about that article:
    1. The same question jaybear asked;
    2. Like johnF observed, the muj’s ain’t stupid, so they HAVE to know we’re watchin’ - just like they know we can’t hit ‘em where they’re at - so, did THEY take that into consideration WHEN they moved? (consider the threats and “chatter” lately….);
    and 3. The scenario of Musharaff losing control of Pakistan puts a whole new light on that treaty that the President signed with INDIA two years ago.

    The whole thing’s just a mite complicated….

  9. TouchStone

    Forgot to add this last little bit of “Macchiavelli”:
    Since our spooks had to know that the muj’s know we’re watchin’, was the whole thing an op to flush out the leakers in the Paki gov’t?
    …maybe I’m just over-thinkin’ this, but……..

    Touch Stone, don’t stop thinking.

    The Paki intelligence chief is alligned with islamofascist/Taliban fundamentalists in Pakistan. So, he leaks info to them. That’s probably why the camps emptied. What I don’t understand is why US doesn’t Muzasharif get rid of him, since that element is also trying to assasinate him, too.
