Weapons For Hostages
This morning the AP reported that the Taliban had agreed to release two sick female Korean hostages, and the story is now flying around the newsophere. They quoted Taliban spokesman Qari Ahmedi, “The Taliban’s big commanders have decided for the sake of good relations between the Taliban and the Korean people that without any conditions they are soon going to release two sick women,” Ahmadi said.
However, everyone seems to be ignoring that the AP also reported this:
Marajudin Pathan, the local governor, said he had not heard that two women would be released and that it hadn’t been discussed during negotiations Saturday. He said talks would continue on Sunday.
“Qari Ahmedi (the Taliban spokesman) is somewhere in Pakistan,” Pathan said. “He’s just running his mouth. They (the Taliban) are always giving contradictory statements.”
And, on a related note, the Taliban seemed to almost accidentally indicate that although they were still demanding the release of 21 of their comrades, they would settle for less - and that the earlier reported cash ransom was indeed likely. How else to reasonably explain the statement “definitely these people will be released”?
Here’s what I’m talking about, from the same AP report:
Mullah Qari Bashir, one of the Taliban negotiators, said the face-to- face talks were going well and that the Taliban were sticking with their original demand—that 21 Taliban prisoners be released from prisons in Afghanistan.
“God willing the government (of Afghanistan) and the government of Korea will accept this,” Bashir said outside the Ghazni office of the Afghan Red Cross, which is acting as a neutral intermediary. “Definitely these people will be released. God willing our friends (Taliban militants in prison) will be released.”
The bottom line here is that the South Koreans have most likely decided to arm terrorists to kill Americans, Aghans and NATO troops, by funding their operations with a substantial ransom payment - - in exchange for 23 of their own people who willingly, knowingly, and defiantly, walked onto a battlefield unarmed and unwilling to fight.

That is exactly right Pat. Well said.
South Korea has now made it open season on any foriegners A-Q & Co. can capture and hold for ransom. It is very sad the response South Korea has made to this. Every nation that caves in to the demands of the fanatics will be at their mercy until they say no more. It is a betrayal to those who have had boots on the ground fighting the most brutal enemy since Hitler.
The world needs to wake up and say No Negotiating with Terrorist Thugs under any circumstances.
August 11th, 2007 at 12:44 pmMy heart goes out to the Korean families for those who died trying to do humanitarian work for those in need.
It just goes to show the true cowardice of those who hold the remaining hostages that they prey only on the vulnerable and weak.
How I wish South Korea had instead become more resolute to fight these bastards for the cowards they truly are.

I’d like to ask the towelhead Bashir if he has seen the bumper sticker that says that “jesus loves you, but everyone else thinks you’re an asshole.”

They (Taliban) have killed two innocent people in the name of their fucking god. How is that for the sake of good relations between them and the Korean people. The Korean government must have the attention span of a liberal. They’re nothing more than the Taliban’s bitch. The South Koreans by now have probability given the Taliban the key to the country.
August 11th, 2007 at 11:33 pmBet the South Koreans bring their guns the next time they want to play onward Christian soldier.
