Al Qaeda Tet Offensive Has Begun
Villagers wounded in Al Qaeda attempt to overrun their village
At least according to Bill Roggio. It is in part his explanation for the highly unusual massed infantry attacks in the last few days.
Opening of Bill’s assesment:
Al Qaeda in Iraq has ramped up its attacks against Iraqi civilians and Iraqi and U.S. security forces over the past 48 hours. The effort demonstrates that al Qaeda in Iraq still possesses the capacity to launch a counteroffensive to the ongoing U.S. and Iraqi operations and is seeking to influence the upcoming debate in the U.S. Al Qaeda in Iraq has launched its version of the Tet Offensive.
Over the past several days, al Qaeda in Iraq conducted five high-profile attacks against Iraqi and U.S. targets. Four out of five of the attacks occurred outside of Baghdad–two in Diyala province, two in Salahadin province. Three of the attacks were conducted with suicide bombers, the other two attacks were conducted as infantry-type assaults.
Diyala
Just as Coalition and Iraq forces wrapped up Operation Lightning Hammer in the Diyala River Valley north of Baqubah, al Qaeda in Iraq conducted two major strikes in the province on August 23: one south and one east of the provincial capital. The first attack, and infantry-style assault against two villages south of Baqubah, was the more sensational of the two…

August 25th, 2007 at 4:28 amI have been saying since January that the August/September time frame will tell the tale of this train wreak of a government here. It was painfully obvious to those of us on the ground that the corruption that permeated the GOI then has only gotten worse - far worse. As such, not a damn thing has been accomlished other than the pricks at the top stuffing their pockets, flying off ot Syria and Tehran, off loading and flying back for more.
August 25th, 2007 at 4:49 amInteresting to note that all the Iraqis we come in contact with are looking westward for the imminente arrival of Allawi. The many pieces of the puzzle that were floating around in space are now staring to settle down and the picture is becoming much clearer. First Allai pulls his Ministers from the GOI cabinet meetings. Last week Allai hires BGR for an image boost. Yesterday they submitted their resignations from the GOI.
The GOI officials we deal with directly are very nervous and very aggitated about something… Hmmmm, wonder what it could be?… Maybe the fact that the Iraqi Special Forces are NOT under the control of the Iraqi MOD and therefore not under the control of the PM. The US controls them. (Hee, Hee.) To make matters worse for the quivering members of the GOI the question is being asked: Where is General Mohammed Shawani, the former commander of the ISF and now living in the US under wraps. Remember the name. You will hear it again.
Meanwhile, this place is still a target rich environment so off to work with THE NUGE blasting in my ears. OUT.
That’s right B.A. Maliki is a waste of life. And as AQI decides to abandon their guerilla tactics, much like the Vietcong and the NVA in 1968, they will die in large numbers. All I can say is Whoo-hoo….another one bites the dust…
I heard a report the other day that confirmed one of my assertions that even the clerics are starting to preach against AQI. One AQI looses clerical support…they’re AK fodder.
Tee-hee.
Another good report BA.
August 25th, 2007 at 5:16 amGet some Baghdad Aviator!
You know they are also wanting to make a splash to coincide with the September report.
I bet the fucking d’rats and Republican turncoats are pissed that the Iraqi population is fighting back against al queeeda and not getting slaughtered in shocking numbers that the media could just go ape shit over.
John your right, these next 2 weeks could be really fucked up with our d’rats, & msm working with al queeeeeda and iran, ans syria to try and influence the direction of the Iraq war.
August 25th, 2007 at 10:10 amDoes that scumbag Uncle Walter Cronkite have an opinion?? I’m sure Wally would love to undermine this war with a seditious comment as well. What is he now, 90? Even God doesn’t want the dope.
