Yes, he threatens to possibly sue the British paper for its story.

From Voices of Iraq:

Sheikh Ahmed al-Shibani, the official spokesman for al-Sadr’s office in Najaf, denied that Sadr had given an interview to the British newspaper The Independent on Monday.

“The interview published by the paper was fabricated and groundless. His Eminence (Sadr) has never granted this paper any interviews,” Shibani told VOI by telephone.

“We will sue any newspaper, TV station or web site that publishes fabricated news about His Eminence Muqtada al-Sadr or his office,” affirmed Shibani.

The Independent published on Monday an interview claimed to have been with Muqtada al-Sadr, in which it attributed to him statements saying that “the Britons have surrendered and know that they will leave Iraq soon thanks to the resistance they face.”

The paper also quoted a senior British military official as saying that Sadr wanted to feign victory at a time when the British forces were already planning to pull out. “We always expected… that they would play a game to give a false impression that they were kicking us out, which is not true,” The Independent quoted the British official as saying.

But he reiterated his claims of victory over Britain anyway, and called for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq or for their pullout to be scheduled and announced by the U.S.

“We have heard of the British forces’ plans to withdraw from our beloved southern Iraq. Let us congratulate one another over the honest resistance that brought about this victory,” Sadr said in a statement on Tuesday received by the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

“At the same time I demand all Iraqi people to rise to the occasion and take heed of all the wily plans that seek to form sedition among groups of Iraqis,” said Sadr in his statement.

The Inpedendent is a crap British news paper that has allways had a hardcore left wing, anti-American, pro-terrorist bias. I guess now we all know they are a bunch of liars and incompetent journalists. One of their most famous reporters is Bob Fisk, that ass hole has been making up anti US military stories for decades. So much so that the urban dictionary uses Fisking for “making uo stories in the Media”.

Not a good month for the MSM, first the Beauchamp/TNR debacle now this for the Indy.

Off topic but this shows the heroism of some Iraqis standing up to the insurgents.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    RELEASE No. 20070821-05
    August 21, 2007

Citizen sacrifices life to thwart suicide bomber
    Multi-National Division – Center PAO

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq – An Iraqi man saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians when he intercepted a suicide bomber during a Concerned Citizens meeting in the town of al-Arafia Aug. 18.

The incident occurred while Soldiers from 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, were talking with members of the al-Arafia Concerned Citizens, a volunteer community group, at a member’s house.

“I was about 12 feet away when the bomber came around the corner,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Kane, of Los Altos, Calif., acting platoon sergeant of Troop B, 3-1 Cav. “I was about to engage when he jumped in front of us and intercepted the bomber as he ran toward us. As he pushed him away, the bomb went off.”

The citizen’s actions saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians.

Kane felt the loss personally because he had met and interacted with his rescuer many times before the incident.

“He was high-spirited and really believed what the group (Concerned Citizens) was doing,” Kane said. “I have no doubt the bomber was trying to kill American Soldiers. It was very calculated the way the bomber tried to do it. If he hadn’t intercepted him, there is no telling how bad it could have been.”

Kane believes the citizen is a hero.

“He could have run behind us or away from us, but he made the decision to sacrifice himself to protect everyone. Having talked with his father, I was told that even if he would have known the outcome before hand, he wouldn’t have acted differently.”

Capt. Brian Gilbert, of Boise, Idaho, the commander of Company D, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, currently attached to 3-1 Cavalry, echoed Kane’s sentiment.

“I spoke with the father,” Gilbert said. “He said he has no remorse in his son’s death because he died saving American Soldiers.”

Later that night, the Concerned Citizens group contacted the local National Police director, Lt. Col. Samir, with the location of the al-Qaeda cell believed to be responsible for the attack. The National Police immediately conducted a raid that resulted in four arrests.

Despite the citizen’s death, Gilbert is encouraged by the cooperation between citizens and the Iraqi National Police.

“The effort of the Concerned Citizens group has made the area much safer,” he said. “They are proud of who they are and their area, and want to get rid of the terrorists in their area.”

Gilbert also praised the Iraqi National Police’s role in eliminating insurgents in the area.

“The cooperation between them and the Concerned Citizens has been key,” Gilbert said. “The NP has done a great job of responding to the tips they have been given by the group.”

Gilbert said he believes the area is improving because of the efforts of local citizens. The death, while unfortunate, demonstrated how close many in the area have become with the American Soldiers operating there.

“I consider many in the town friends, and I know they feel the same,” Gilbert said. “This is a tough situation, but we’ll move on and try to prevent things like this from happening again. I’ve talked with his family and told them how brave their son was. This is a huge loss for everyone involved.”

“We have heard of the British forces’ plans to withdraw from our beloved southern Iraq. Let us congratulate one another over the honest resistance that brought about this victory,” ”

So let me get this straight. While the 12Liar Militia was getting their asses kicked by the Brits and the US, Mookie was in Iran getting his head diapers cleaning and washing the asses of his puppetmasters in Iranian Gestapo HQ?

And now he claims “honest resistence that brought victory”?
Wow isn’t that tagyiya with a capital “T”.

Fuck you Mookie you little fucktard. And the “Independent”
can go screw themselves as far as I’m concerned. I’ve had just about all I’m going to stand from libtard pubs.

  5. Bill

One of the major mistakes of the initial part of the war was to let this guy live. He should have been taken out a long time ago. He is nothing more than a menace to the future stability of an Iraqi democracy.

Someone needs to stick a bullet in his head.

  6. Trindam

Atleast this does show everyone one thing. How an early pull out will be spun by groups like Al Qaeda and Al Sadr.

  7. drillanwr

    @ Deathstar -

Thanks for that story. The MSM would have us believe the Iraqi’s don’t want the law and order and chance at life our troops are trying and dying to bring them. The MSM would NEVER report this type of story … Which is why sites like these and folks like those who frequent them are so important in getting out the news the American media, and the world media in general, won’t report.

  8. deathstar

    drillanwr,

    Fuck the MSM.

  9. Kurt (the infidel)

Yep nuttier than a squirrel turd

  10. D.C.

There he goes again….invoking his “Svengali”, hypno-look!
Boy….does he look scary?

  11. Brad W(the infidel)

    Pat,

I am afraid that I will be the cause of Mookie filing a lawsuit against you, your site, and possibly me for posting the fact that he drinks fermented goat piss mixed with antifreeze yesterday, which is what has caused him to be so irrational. a little more antifreeze, and he’ll be toast…

  12. PhilNBlanx

Talk about tough calls. I wouldn’t want to be on the jury hearing the Sadr/Independent case.
I guess it would come down to who lied the least wins. Of course it would require a supercomputer to keep track.
Why is this guy still breathing anyway? His “eminence” should have been collateral damage a long time ago. Maybe we should just spread a rumor mookie is a double agent working for the CIA and let Iran take him out for us.
BTW - Great story Deathstar…thanks for posting.

I thought that fuck would sue his dentist

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE KILL THAT ASSHOLE? WHAT THE HELL DO I PAY TAXES FOR?

For those of you interested in what’s going on in Basra, check out this analysis from Richard North of the EU Referendum blog:

    http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2007/08/alright-i-did-tell-you-so.html

Not happy reading and makes me far from proud to be British.

  15. Sandy K.

I agree with Steve in NC that he should sue his dentist first!

The guy is nuts and I wouldn’t believe anything that comes out of his pie hole.

    Deathstar

Thank you for that story. I was at work reading it and it reduced me to tears. Gratitude. The actions of many Iraqi people, especially this man and his family, speak volumes about the war and what our troops are doing there. R.I.P.

  16. REN

al-Sadr media machine: “Our great leader didn’t say that! But while we are here, let me just say… (same thing)!”

What a bunch of lying and deceitful jerks! They want the best of both worlds, to discredit the media who would have sway, while also bolstering their position using that very same media. And the masses eat it up, buying up and believing the clever art and artifice behind it.

This isn’t unlike the conspiracy theorists IN, and outside of, the Middle-East who would call 9/11 a Jewish plot, acted on by the Bush Administration, but somehow still masterminded by Osama bin Laden. They don’t have to make any logic sense to gain points on both sides, with the uneducated masses in the Middle-East and well, the uneducated masses around the world (mainly the West, Europe and America).

THIS is why we need more Victor Davis Hanson classicists! To return our nation to one of logic, reason, and sense!!
