Baghdad, Aug 30, (VOI)- Iraqi security forces have besieged Sadr City in eastern Baghdad and sealed off the city’s main outlets, eyewitnesses said.

“Iraqi security forces closed bridges over al-Jaish Canal, which represent the main outlets to Sadr City, and banned anyone from leaving without specified reasons, however they are allowing entry into the city,” an eyewitness told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

“Last night was calm and the city witnessed no clashes or unrest, so residents were surprised at today’s siege,” another eyewitness said.

The siege came one day after the decision taken by Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr to freeze al-Mahdi Army for six months.

The decision was taken after recent speculation and accusations against al-Mahdi Army of being involved in the violent acts in the city of Karbala, where scores were killed and injured.

Sadr City is the stronghold of al-Mahdi Army.

Stompum! J-DAM the JAM! Etc.

From the earliest days when Mookie made himself out to be far more than he’s qualified for, his support has depended on a combination of gangland tactics and posturing for the uneducated. Karbala is perhaps a wake-up call for many with remaining illusions of JAM benevolence. This is a good time to take down his HQ.

That turd has no reason to still be in existence (Muqtada al-Sadr). I don’t think that anyone would be all that sad if he became a pink cloud (Iran might be sad).

It seems to me like Sadr is doing some house cleaning. He makes an agreement with the Iraqi government and US forces to publicly announce a Mahdi army freeze with an agreement that they will root out the rogue sects who he cannot control. I wouldn’t be surprised if he provided the intel for this raid in a tit for tat exchange where he gets to retain power after the rogue groups are extinguished. His threats to “unfreeze” is just lip service to appease his hardline followers and show that he isn’t a pushover.

This would be a good time to strike him. If Iraqi security forces are smart they’ll take his entire Army down and destroy it. If it is true that Mookie is responsible for the bloodshed on the Shit-ite holy day…then maybe his own populace will abandon him and the Iraqi security forces can fill the void and/or assist in killing his useless ass.

    Might be real good news.

Wouldn’t it be nice if his own men take him out? Just a thought.

If yesterday’s annoucement was because Mookie is against the ropes … hit ‘em and hit ‘em hard and keep hitting ‘em until there is no more of ‘em! Petraeus has said he is not there to weaken the insurgency, he is there to kill it. Let’s git ‘er done!

Im telling you this guy is no different than bin laden and the rest like him, they’re not dead yet but death is looking for them and it wont be too long for mookie. This guy has lots of enemies and no matter who takes him out, a bullet is a bullet
