Video: O’Reilly Picks Up My Mark Cuban Story
I noticed that no one was covering the story of who had actually produced and financed De Palma’s film ( the one where he redacts the truth of the Iraq war in favor of his own propaganda spin ) so I did some research and posted it this weekend. Debbie Schlussel actually broke the story first in February.
Michelle Malkin picked up my story first, and then Drudge. Lo and behold, on Tuesday evening, when O’Reilly came back from vacation, the story of Cuban’s involvement was up at the top. Cuban refused to appear, and instead issued a statement. A statement that tried to deny anyone the right to respond to Mr. De Palma’s statements about the film, and implying that no one had the right to attack why the film was made, or what it was about, until they saw it, even though Mr. De Palma himself, not third parties, had told us why he made the film and what it was about. Sorry, we have the right to respond now. De Palma and Cuban’s anti-victory campaign is comprised of not only the film, but what they say about it. We have the right to join the debate, and they don’t have the right to enjoy the two months before its release free of retort and criticism. ( In fairness to Cuban, he wrote to me offering to look at “stuff from the right”. Just an offer to “look at”, however. No guaranteed air time to respond to the film, no guaranteed slot for conservatives to have a voice on his channel ala leftist political activist Dan Rather )
And notice how De Palma stacked the deck for the debate over the next two months. He wants only those who have seen it to be able to criticise him or it. So who does he show it to? Rich Euorpeans and leftist Hollywood insiders. He is hiding it from the people who have been to and served in Iraq, who would best know if it showed what he claimed it did, “the truth of the war in Iraq”. He was hoping for two months of effective censorship of dissent in order to build an audience for his film. He’s not going to get it. He’s a coward, a scumbag, a war-profiteer, a blood sucker - his own statements prove that he is more interested in showing bad behvior on the part of American troops than their service and sacrifice. How else does one achieve his goal of motivating people to leave by displaying horror in Iraq? He would motivate people to stay and fight if he showed the horrors perpetrated by the real invaders of Iraq, Al Qaeda. No, he wants to motivate us to leave, so he’s chosen to display fictional horrors perpetrated by American troops. “Pro-troop” my ass. He has said he wanted to incense the American people with images of horror perpetrated by American troops. If he’s motivating us to leave by showing horrors perpetrated by someone else, I’d like him to explain how he thought that would work, and show us what those horrors are. I’d love to see the scenes of Al Qaeda massacring villagers that Michal Yon and others have uncovered. Are they in his film? Of course not. The movie does not need to be seen for him to be held accountable for the attack on our troops that is his stated intention. No spin can get around that. And everyone who aids him in his stated quest needs to be hold accountable. Now that Mr. De Palma has hoisted himself on the pitard of his own words, not even his film will be able to redeem him. Mr. De Palma’s intentions, if succesful, would in fact lead to the deaths of more Americans at the hands of an enemy who are given aid, comfort and motivation to continue to kill the American troops in Iraq. His display of self-described “images of horror” perpetrated by Americans, was not designed to support the troops in anyway - that is an odious Orwellian lie. It was designed to support his personal political agenda, and failing career.
Hot Air has last night’s O’Reilly Factor segment.
( In fairness to Cuban, he wrote to me offering to look at “Right Wing” projects)? Right Wing Projects? WTF is that? Oh yeah, he means anything that makes the military look good and tells the truth about our heroes? As opposed to his Left Wing Projects huh? You know those agenda driven biased rich-puke drivel projects that he calls a movie?
Fuck you Cuban and DePalma. You should marry one another, since the two of you like sucking each other’s dicks all the time.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:34 amThe Infidel Dan is right on, the use of the phrase ‘right wing projects’ tells you all you need to know about that shit stain cuban. Surprised he did not say ‘right wing nut jobs projects’
September 5th, 2007 at 8:44 amPat,
I’ve said it before…your site is the best one out there for news on Iraq. I’m glad you are starting to get more people on board because that means more informed, engaged people.
On the requirement of seeing the movie before commenting: I don’t have to see dog shit either, to tell you what it is.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:52 amI say again. Good men and women will die because of this film.
Releasing this highly fictionalized and skewed account of a war time atrocity while our soldiers are still engaged in the fight is the height of arrogance. It is a blatant and personal attack against many an American mother’s son or daughter who is in the service of the Constitution. These evil men must be held to account by our government for their selfish disregard for the safety and security of our soldiers’ lives.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:58 amExcellent Job Pat!! I put you and Michael Yon in the same category. VERY needed and a breath of fresh air in a world of MSM bullshit.
September 5th, 2007 at 9:13 amWell, I don’t want to start any rumors, but I heard someone caught De Palma and Cuban in bed. Sleazer Rita Cosby is coming out with a book so it must be really for sure true….
September 5th, 2007 at 9:20 amIf Mr. Cuban is so sure his financed flick is “pro military”, why doesn’t he put it out on the net for all of us to view and let us poor minions share the patriotic joy with the elite at Venice? Consider it a service to his country for the guys and gals that allow him to pimp the Mavericks instead of facing Mecca.
Oh, and one other question. If it’s pro military, why did De Palma say “see, you can’t say anything negative about the military without being attacked by the right wing”? If its positive about the military, wouldn’t the wingnuts be your adoring fans?
September 5th, 2007 at 9:42 amWhat’s amazing is that if you criticize the military, it’s only the right wing that gets upset. Doesn’t this seem out of wack for our country? Only Republicans care if the military is attacked. Not the Dems, not independents, just the Republicans???
September 5th, 2007 at 10:05 amHollywood is Hollywood, no matter how you look at it, and it will continue to produce films of all types, even trash such as this. On the bright side, I can tell you from the standpoint of someone in production myself, this film will have very little appeal to the majority of Americans. Redacted: the true story of an American rape in Iraq. As if people aren’t overwhelmed enough as it is with bad news, why the hell would they want to bring themselves down further for two hours on a weekend? Let them piss away their money on a flop that no one will see. There is nothing that can be done about this film, and I think to give it any attention is to do it a service so as to raise awareness about it. Let it languish and fail as it is probably going to do anyway without our help.
September 5th, 2007 at 10:11 am[…] Video: O’Reilly Picks Up My Mark Cuban Story — Pat Dollard […]
September 5th, 2007 at 10:18 amCaught that segment on O’Reilly. I have also seen the clip of DePalma talking about how the right is going to go after it. He’s acting like he’s some kind of courageous martyr/hero, when in reality the act of putting this film out while we are still fighting a war in Iraq is treasonous.
With freedom of speech comes responsibility. I may disagree completely (understatement, I’d really like to rip off his head, shit down his neck and then fuck his wheezing esophagus) with DePalma’s stance, but he has a right to put it out. However…
He should have waited until the war was over. The enemy will watch this film, not just the enemy, but borderline fence-sitters around the world, and draw the conclusion that this is the rule, not the exception, and will consider American troops as monsters deserving to die and in the case of ur enemy, become emboldened, and in the case of fence-sitters, send them into the anti-American camp.
Because this war is still going on, this is aiding the enemy and therefore treasonous.
Make all the slander films you want after the wars are over, not while they are still being fought.
That said, even making films like this when the wars ARE over is despicable, and the perps that do these things wallow in the romantic notion of being anti-establishment and therefore heroic at cocktail parties where they sit around and impress young co-eds with their “See, I am a true rebel, let me fondle you” sliminess.
DePalma will continue to paint himself a hero-martyr over the next year, the loony left will shower him with nominations, possibly even awards for this grotesque attempt at cinema. Many will nominate or vote without ever even seeing the film.
Meanwhile, the true Americans will continue to fight the good fight so looney lefty asshats like DePalma can do what looney lefty asshats like DePalma do.
September 5th, 2007 at 10:22 amWTF is right wing stuff
September 5th, 2007 at 10:30 amI’m not one of those right wing left wing play book type of people…but, because he is a left wing fucknut (his use of the term right means he’s left I suppose) he’ll take a potentially malicious shot at the military…all “disguised” in the name of “humanity”. If he thinks the average person can’t see the misdirected shot as being one aimed at the president and his “imagined right wing” enemies than he is more than out of touch. If he needs to be somebody’s hero he’d be better to forget politics and aim for the children who need it.
That’s a key observation Irish Gal.
September 5th, 2007 at 10:42 amany comment on that movie ?

September 5th, 2007 at 12:22 pmSpot on Bashman. Nothing to add to that.
September 5th, 2007 at 1:14 pmI see on a tabloid blog that Cuban has been picked to be on Dancing with the Stars. I don’t watch it but if anyone does and wants to shake it up, please feel free to do so.
September 5th, 2007 at 4:56 pmfrechy, go away, get on Daily Kos., They would love you there.
September 5th, 2007 at 5:48 pmRight on Bash!! I think back to a movie that I saw as a teenage kid…Rambo. I thought it was so cool and wanted to be tough lie John.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:54 pmNow when I look back on it, that movie was so deragotory to the Viet Nam vet that I am ashamed to have liked it as a kid. No, it does not bad mouth the war. Even worse it bad mouthed and threw a negative light on the already embattled Viet Nam vets.
DePalma, Robbins, Cuban are all anti-American PUKES!!!!!!!!! At least Rambo was made after the war and was based on an already established stero-type.
DePalma I hate you more than my ex-wife, and she beat one of my kids when he was two and a half. May you die a slow and painful death from cancer or something worse!!
Rope: $5
3 stepladders: $15
Ridding the world of DePalma, Cuban, and Robbins while making it look like an autoerotic circle-jerk gone horribly wrong:
