Basra, Sept 6, (VOI)- The director of military intelligence for the city of Basra escaped an attempt on his life on Thursday in the center of the city, while two of his bodyguards were killed, a senior Iraqi army source said.
“An explosive charge went off targeting the motorcade of Colonel Jabar al-Saad, director of military intelligence in Basra, near the city hall at the center of the city,” the source, who preferred not to be named, told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).
“The colonel survived the attempt, while two of his bodyguards in the adjoining vehicle were killed in the explosion,” he added.
Basra is 590 km south of Baghdad.

If he’s Iraqi Army, he’s probably Shia. Which means that the hit was likely Al Quds,,,positioning themselves for control of Basra. Who knows…could be he just pissed off mookie too.
