Al Qaeda In Iraq’s Finance Minister Killed
Baaquba, Sept 8, (VOI)- A security source in Diala province said on Saturday the Finance Minister of the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq armed group was killed during a military operation in Diala province, central Iraq.
“A force from Diala police killed, on Friday afternoon, Thaer Salim Dawoud, the Finance Minister of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq, during a military operation in al-Hashemiyat village, which is a stronghold for foreign Muslim extremists coming from Afghanistan and some Arab countries,” the source, who spoke on anonymity condition, told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).
The source added “Dawoud is on the wanted list for Iraqi authorities on charges of killings and inciting sectarian violence.”
The source gave no further details.
Villages of al-Hashemiyat and al-Hadid of Hibhib district, Diala province, have seen the killing of more than 2,000 innocent villagers over the last four years by Qaeda militants according to local police estimates.
Baaquba, capital city of Diala province, is 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
