MoveOn.Org Calls Petraeus A Traitor In Full Page NYT Ad: “General Betray Us”
MoveOn.org, who along with the MSM and Democratic Party have killed countless US troops by loudly encouraging the enemy to keep fighting, have accused General Petraeus of treason. They have also accused him of committing American soldiers to die in a cause he actually believes is lost, merely to make George Bush happy. If you’ll note in the story below, it is clear that they did this at the request of the Democrat Party who needed to hide behind the Moveon label. These people are not “like” traitors, they are traitors, and the time to put up with their treason is over. For the charge to have traction with the electorate, it will take a leading politician to start lablelling them for what they are. So far, Republican Senators and Congressmen are too afraid to call the Dems the traitors they are, while the Dems have no problem calling the troops not only traitors but monsters.
Weekly Standard:
Tomorrow–as General David Petraeus provides his Iraq assessment to Congress–the antiwar group MoveOn.org is running a full-page advertisement in the New York Times under the headline: “General Petraeus or General Betray us? Cooking the books for the White House.”
Let’s be clear: MoveOn.org is suggesting that General Petraeus has ‘betrayed’ his country. This is disgusting. To attack as a traitor an American general commanding forces in war because his ‘on the ground’ experience does not align with MoveOn.org’s political objectives is utterly shameful. It shows contempt for America’s military leadership, as well as for the troops who have confidence in him, as our fellow soldiers in Iraq certainly do.
General Petraeus has served this country for over 35 years with honor, distinction, and integrity. And this is not just about General Petraeus. After all, if General Petraeus is “cooking the books,” then the entire military chain of command in Baghdad, and all the staff, military and civilian, who have been working with General Petraeus are complicit, since Petraeus did not write his report in isolation. They are all, apparently, ‘betray[ing] us.’
MoveOn.org has been working closely with the Democratic congressional leadership –as an article in today’s Sunday New York Times Magazine makes clear. And consider this comment by a Democratic senator from Friday’s Politico: “‘No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,’ noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.’
So, veterans who served in Iraq ask the Democratic leaders in Congress: Does MoveOn.org speak for you? Do you agree with MoveOn.org? Or do you repudiate this despicable charge?
MoveOn.org has helped frame the core choice: Whom do we trust to run this war–MoveOn.org and its allies in Congress, or Gen. David Petraeus and his colleagues?
Pete Hegseth is executive director of Vets for Freedom and an Iraq War veteran.
Ask me, groups like MoveOn and their ilk post a far greater threat to my family than radical Islam.
I do see a day when it comes to civil war in this country if the left doesn’t win their way - perhaps soon. And I hope everyone who loves freedom, liberty and justice will be willing to put the “fellow countrymen” stuff aside and treat the socialist left like the enemy. Lord knows they’ve been treating us like the enemy for well over 40 years now.
Debate over war is one thing; actively working to assist the opponent to victory, quite another.
September 10th, 2007 at 3:49 amI’m all for the civil war. The time for debate is over in the case of puke-eating orgs like moveon. So this is how the pussycratz want to play it huh? The low-lifes have to hire pukes to do their dirty work for them.
Bring on the civil war. I can’t wait….Talking to these mofos is a waste of time. Beating the shit out of them would be a more effective use of time.
September 10th, 2007 at 4:09 amGoodbye Natalie is correct.
The greatest threat to our freedom and security is not al qweeeda types, it is the democrat party, and that includes every evil soul in it, from the money men like soros, ‘leaders’ like carville, dean, bent over whores like ried, murtha and pelosi, down to the elected members at the level of local city and county governments. I no longer separate local and national members of the d’rat party. The are all traitors to this nation and to the cause of freedom world wide.
September 10th, 2007 at 4:17 amAs for the ad by moveon.org, keep it coming, show us how stupid, petty and immature your are. Buy TV time too you fucks, unmask the beast to the largest audience you can get.
September 10th, 2007 at 4:22 amIt is simply too bad that it is illegal to whack some of these bastards that truly have nothing better to do than undermine the security of this country. That is the one bad thing about our freedom of speech here. They are allowed to spew whatever filth and lies they care to with no ramifications whatsoever. Soros and his ilk are the real traitors to the American way of life.
September 10th, 2007 at 4:46 amDesperation, fear of loss and exposure for past and continuing sins, arrogance — quite a mix. It must be very uncomfortable for the poor jerks. But like AQI, they’ve gone a bridge too far, I think.
They are (surely) alienating the “swing” voters, who decide all issues and elections.
September 10th, 2007 at 6:07 ami wonder if AQ rents out sucide bombers? we have for them a new mission
September 10th, 2007 at 6:11 amHmmmm…NYT and MoveOn who is already calling our best General a Traitor?!! The only ones who are committing treason in my eyes is those who say we have lost the war and want to cut and run. These TRAITORS are indirectly endangering my Son over in Iraq! MoveON, NYT, MSN, and every politicians who are anti military can go to hell! My Son is my hero for serving his Country. When are these “A Holes” going to start serving there Country and to provide the PROPER TROOP SUPPORT?!!
September 10th, 2007 at 7:02 amYou know I have been saying what Goodbye Nat said for a few years now. The witch hunt in the 50’s for commies let our good nature curtail what should have been done. Instead we had guys like Alger Hiss selling out eastern Europe to the soviets and state department that worked against foreign policy. Look at the learned institutions of education with their prof’s secured with tenure and emboldened to teach defeat, America hate and love for our enemies, the behemoth that the federal gov’t has become. I am locked and loaded and I do believe there will soon be a day when Americans will again have to decide if this is the United States of America or a soviet satellite. I have to say I EAGERLY AWAIT THIS FIGHT.

September 10th, 2007 at 7:29 amSo what about the military oath to defend this country against all enemy’s foreign and domestic, what does that look like in practicality. Looks like it’s time to show what the definition of IS really IS —– IS time.
September 10th, 2007 at 7:32 amTheodore Roosevelt’s ‘Man in the Arena.’ That’s all I have to say about that.
September 10th, 2007 at 7:41 amThese leftists are just not wired right.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:00 amthis is only happening because the dems have bought into conspiracy theories. the thing with such theories that is appealing is that they are far-reaching, confirms suspicions(biases) and make for great movies but are usually slim on facts. perpetuating these fantasies with a supportive media makes it easy for the politians to pretend to support the rule of law while openly supporting those who spread these rumors like moveon et al.
now the military is “in” on the vast right wing conspiracy and the dems have no problem condemning our military as criminals while pushing for voting rights for real criminals. I only wish the swing voters would ask the question: why have you not been able to prosecute the leaders of the conspiracy? considering all the “evidence” outlined in the various documentaries and media?
September 10th, 2007 at 8:08 amMorOn.org. is more suited.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:09 am“wired right”? well here’s one possible reason….

September 10th, 2007 at 8:10 amTwo quotes that apply directly to the spineless, worthless POS republican officials in DC:
E. Burke
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”
A. Einstein
“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”
How long will we continue to vote for these people who don’t stand up for what’s right simply to appear bipartisan or nonpartisan. Getting along at all costs and compromise are the words of cowards.
Thanks God Hagel and Warner are not going to seek reelection. I think they see the righting on the wall as to their political future.
We as conservatives should have no tolerence for RINO’s and spineless political hacks.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:28 am“Thanks God Hagel and Warner are not going to seek reelection.”
Probably due to an influx of folks from the north, Virginia has turned from a red state to something like a purple state. As a result, John Warners’ replacement is very likely to be Mark Warner, a demorat. Yer gonna like him a whole lot less.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:46 am“goodbye natalie” says what i have said for along time,, there is a trend to split this country into “2 americas” and they are succeeding.. the hate and venom spred by the dummycrats and their MSM venue of “spredding the word” is causing alot of division.. the communists said we would fall fm within and OBL is doing it with the help of pelosi/reid/murtha/biden/shmucker and derpin..the anger of our “kids”, in combat and supporting roles, towards them is a real concept and being ignored by the left..now with this slam against one of our “heroes” it is causing a bigger rift than the left will be able to contend with..SEMPER FI
September 10th, 2007 at 8:55 amMoveon has overplayed its hand. It has miscalculated. Every move it makes is assisting a McGovern-like landslide in 08 for the opposite party. When you are removed from the US media machine from a distance, you are able to see more clearly. They have made themselves into radical laughingstocks, a version of the 60’s Students for Democratic Action. They are only kept propped up by their cronies in the MSM. George G. Public ain’t buying it (the majority).
September 10th, 2007 at 11:36 amBullshit….those Hypocrites have no right to call General Petraeus a traitor. I can’t even think of the right words to express how angry I am.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:47 pmI guess that should have been “John Q. Public.” Whatever.
