Did Senators Or Congressmen Help Write The Moveon.Org Ad?
Except for Joe Lieberman, all Democrat senators and congressmen have refused to condemn the MoveOn.Org ad. It seems clear that they had some advance knowledge of it, given not only this ominous bit from Politico on Sunday: “‘No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,’ noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.’, but also just the fact that its unlikely MoveOn would print such an ad without first clearing it with the Dem leadership to make sure it didn’t contain anything that might hurt the party. Whoops. And if so, did congressmen and senators give feedback, did they give line suggestions, ask for changes, etc.? I’d like to see some enterprising and conscientious young congressional or senate staffer give up the goods on their boss’ connections to not only this incident, but in general to Moveon, daily kos and George Soros. Confidentiality guaranteed.
Here’s a Politico article about the brewing scandal called “The Democrats Anti-War Dilemma”. Politico, which leans to the left no matter how they’ll protest otherwise, does the best they can to whitewash the possibility of Dem involvement. Their main strategy is to simply not address the possibilty and operate under the assumption that MoveOn did it alone. It’s just implausible that the Dems had no advance notice or knowledge of the specifics of the content. The fact that they refuse to denounce it signals three things: their approval of the ad and its contents, their fear of MoveOn, and the strong possibility of their party’s involvement in the ad, which would double the impact of any scandal if they first denounce the ad and then get busted for having helped write it.
“The full-page ad in The New York Times that landed on Washington doorsteps before sunrise Monday came from an anti-war group that’s normally friendly to Democrats. But by day’s end, the majority in Congress may have felt like victims of friendly fire.
The ad, purchased by MoveOn.org, branded Army Gen. David Petraeus as “General Betray Us.”

September 11th, 2007 at 11:24 amThe Dems at least vetted it but you need to remember that hypocrisy and deniability are key to flexibility. So the only way to know for sure is if someone does come forward. “Betray us” does sound exactly like something that little puke Reid would come up with in his infantile mind and actually believe was funny. Speaking of whom… he was on C-SPAN yesterday talking to high school kids about the ‘Constitutional Role of Congress’ and took every opportunity to denigrate Bush and Republicans….badly and with that fake ass smile on his face.

Best quote of the day from Niger Innis:
“FDR told us that the only thing that we have to fear is fear itself. The only thing that the Democratz have to fear is victory in Iraq”
