US Raid Kills Father And Son Of Key Mahdi Army Leader
I have no word yet if this guy was still in Al Sadr’s good graces, or if he had turned independent or Iranian renegade. If he was either, Al Sadr may have even blessed the raid. Either way, the US clearly isn’t fucking around in its new focus on dealing with cleaning up the Shiite militia problem. And if he was still truly loyal to Al Sadr, expect a mini shitstorm.
Diwaniya, Sept 16, (VOI)- Two relatives of a key leader of Mahdi army were killed when a U.S. and Iraqi combined force raided, on Sunday at dawn, the Sadrist’s house in Diwaniya, 180 km south of Baghdad, a police source said.
“A U.S. and Iraqi force raided, today at dawn, the house of a key leader of Mahdi army in al-Sadr neighborhood in eastern Diwaniya,” the source told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).
The source added that Sadrist was not present at the house but the raid resulted in killing “the 12 year-old-Sadrist’s son and the Sadrist’s father.”
The source did not unveil the name of the targeted Sadrist.
Diwaniya is 180 km south of Baghdad.

If the intended target shows up at the funeral they can take him out then.
