Baghdad, Sept 17, (VOI) – Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek expressed his government’s willingness to help build a new Iraq, a statement from the Czech Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
During his reception of Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zibari in Prague on Monday morning, Topolanek said that bilateral relations with Iraq are a top priority in the Czech political agenda, according to the statement that the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI) received.
“The Czech government is following up on the developments of events in Iraq and is ready to continue offering help to the Iraqi government to build a new Iraq…,” the statement indicated.
Zibari expressed his government’s gratitude for “the support offered by the Czech government with regards to providing stability and security, and training Iraqi security forces…,” the statement said.
Describing the Czech government’s solidarity with Iraq as a “long-term investment that serves the interests of the people of both countries,” Zibari gave a detailed overview of recent developments in the political and security situation in Iraq, and expressed his government’s keenness to settle unresolved issues.
It’s refreshing that these Slavic states are stepping up and know what it takes to really understand Freedom. They seem to realize it’s not a buzzword or something that is magically bestowed upon them. They know it takes fucking hard work and long term dedication. That’s how freedom endures, that’s how it’s born.

September 18th, 2007 at 4:55 amThe Czechs get it. It isn’t just future access to oil for the Czechs but a market for one of their big exports, weapons. The Iraqis have Sov-style weapons just like the Czechs make for themselves. Where the west-euros just see a morass, the Czechs see an opportunity, I wish them well.

Glad to see the Czech on board!
The more help Iraq gets from the international community the better. Iraq will come together and be strong.
