Mahdi Army Leader Killed In Baghdad
Baghdad, Sept 21, (VOI)- A group of gunmen killed a leader from Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi army in western Baghdad, while the army killed four persons and displaced scores of families from the region in response to the attack, a police source said.
“Unknown gunmen killed Hamoudi Naji, the leader of al-Mahdi army in al-Washash region, in western Baghdad on Thursday night,” the source told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).
“Al-Mahdi army responded immediately by attacking two houses in the region and killing four people from the two families,” he added.
“Scores of families left the region after the attack,” the source also said.
