Baghdad, Sept 28, (VOI)- U.S. forces detained three senior employees working for the Baghdad International Airport for suspected involvement in attacks on Iraqi and U.S. forces, the U.S. army said on Friday.

“U.S. forces detained three extremists in an early morning operation at the Baghdad International Airport on Sept 27,” the army said in a statement received by the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

“The corrupt workers are suspected of having positioned themselves in several high-level jobs at the airport to establish a base and conduct kidnapping operations against Iraqi Security Forces and innocent civilians who stand up against the group’s criminal activities,” it explained.

“The men are further suspected of participating in attacks on Iraqi and U.S. forces with improvised explosive devices and mortars,” the statement added.

Corruption was part of the DNA of Iraqi society under Saddam. It’s gonna take some time to root out corrupt people and show that this is something that simply will not be tollerated in the new democratic Iraq.

Eventually due to these types of operations it will become clear to those that would steal from Iraq, that crime simply does not pay.

Who are we to judge their progress in this area? Look at the likes of John Murtha and the hundreds of millions of dollars of pork that in some cases are untraceable as to where the money went.

God bless those Iraqi’s that stand up to this kind of abuse and our brave troops that stand beside them!

This is really good news.. If intel is getting so good that they are now able to pull out embedded personnel… Things are better off then even I thought.
