Catherine Herridge has reported that Fox News has confirmed from two separate sources that Newt Gingrich will NOT run for President. She said that Fox has been told that Newt will make a formal statement later today. Newt will give an exclusive interview today at 5 PM EST on Fox News.

Update:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008 after determining he could not legally explore a bid and remain as head of his tax-exempt political organization, a spokesman said Saturday.

“Newt is not running,” spokesman Rick Tyler said. “It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president.”

Gingrich decided “to continue on raising the challenges America faces and finding solutions to those challenges” as the group’s chairman, Tyler said, “rather than pursuing the presidency.”

Only on Friday, Gingrich said he had given himself a deadline of Oct. 21 to raise $30 million for a possible White House and that the task was difficult, through not impossible.

    Say it ain’t so!

I wonder if he just used all the free press to hype his American Solutions Group. I bet there are a bunch of happy Rep. & Dem. Presidential Candidates today.

    Hi,

Very disappointing… I hope at least he can maybe moderate some debates, if not in the primary…at least between the 2 picks leading up to the general election.

One of his biggest deals is how poorly the ‘debates’ are set up and run. Which I agree is totally bs.

He has lots to offer this country in terms of trying to get these jerk off politicians to act more responsible and with more common sense. ( I know Newt has had his problems…but I think he has seen the light) He can articulate his thoughts as well as anyone I have seen in a long time.

    Peace!
    Dan

Sorry, guys, but I’m no big fan of Newt.
He blew it when he was the Speaker of the House with his wicked ways(telling his wife he was leaving her for his mistress when she was in her hospital bed and having to give all that money back for his book).
You don’t get 2 shots in this world, Newt.
    Besides, he’d lose big anyway.
My money’s on Fred and/or Rudi.
    Go GOP 2008!
