Breaking: New Bin Laden Video Due By Sunday - Alive! First Photo In 3 Years
Video: Osama will address Americans directly
DUBAI (Reuters) - An Islamist Web site said on Friday it would “soon” carry a new video of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden to mark the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on U.S. cities.
The Web site carried a photograph apparently from the video which showed bin Laden seemingly aged compared to available pictures. It did not say when the video would be issued.
New photo of Osama Bin Laden featured today on the Al-Sahab Al Qaeda website.
The announcement appeared on an Islamic militant Web site, showing a still photo from the video showing of bin Laden addressing the camera, his pointed finger raised upward. His beard, which in previous messages had been streaked with gray, was entirely dark.
“Soon, God willing, a videotape from the lion sheik Osama bin Laden, God preserve him,” the banner advertisement read, signed by Al-Sahab, the terror network’s media arm. Al-Sahab usually puts out such announcements one to three days before the video is posted on the Web.
If the message is actually a video of bin Laden, it would be the first new footage of him since a video released on Oct. 29, 2004, just before the U.S. presidential elections, in which bin Laden said America could avoid another 9-11 style attack if it stopped threatening Muslims.

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Terror mastermind Osama bin Laden plans a new video addressing the American people regarding the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, terror monitoring groups said Thursday.
SITE Intelligence Group said an Internet announcement of the plan included a photo of the al-Qaida leader from the upcoming video—his beard, which in previous messages had been streaked with gray, was entirely dark.
Intelcenter, which is based in Alexandria, Va., and also monitors Islamic Web sites, said the video was expected within the next 72 hours, or by Sunday. That would come before the sixth anniversary next Tuesday of the World Trade Center attack. The last bin Laden video was in October 2004, shortly before the U.S. presidential elections.
Rita Katz, director of the Washington-based SITE Institute, said bin Laden’s beard appeared to have been dyed, which she said is a popular practice in the Middle East.
“I think it works for their benefit that he looks young, he looks healthy,” Katz said of the new image.
