Ramadan: Busy Day In Mosul
Ninewa, Sept 19, (VOI) – Two civilians were wounded in a car bomb explosion that targeted a U.S. patrol vehicle in eastern Mosul, while 10 gunmen, including a leading al-Qaeda member, were arrested in the southeastern part of the city, the head of Ninewa police operations room, Abdul Kareem al-Juburi, said on Wednesday.
“An explosives-rigged car driven by a suicide bomber and targeting a U.S. army patrol was detonated on Wednesday in Mosul’s eastern neighborhood of Muthanna, injuring two civilians who were at the scene,” al-Juburi told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).
No comment was made by the U.S. side on the incident.
Meanwhile, Mosul police chief Maj. Gen. Wathiq al-Hamadani told VOI that local police staged on Wednesday a massive raid on al-Wahda neighborhood in southeastern Mosul and arrested 10 “terrorists,” including a senior al-Qaeda leader.
Al-Hamadani refused to reveal the identity of the leader, saying only that he is Iraqi.
Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
