Ramadi, Sept 14, (VOI) - Hundreds of tribal chiefs, governmental and local officials and clerics took part on Friday in the funeral of Abdul Sattar Abo Rishah, leader of the Anbar Awakening Council, who was killed yesterday in a bomb attack in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi, while his brother Ahmed was named the new leader of the anti-Qaeda council.
The date on which Abo Rishah was buried coincides with the first anniversary of the Anbar Awakening’s establishment, as Abo Rishah established the council on 14 September 2006.
Sheikh Ahmed Abo Rishah, the new council leader, pledged to “continue operations against Qaeda in Anbar.”
No doubt he will…can’t wait to hear what happens to AQ when he and his clan catch up with them.
