It took nearly four second for those rounds to hit the target, at least the dog was smart enough to run away.

The rats ate well that night.
October 3rd, 2007 at 8:53 amNo bag limit!
October 3rd, 2007 at 8:55 amya but remember that they wouldnt hear the bullets before the start hitting them if im not mistaken?
October 3rd, 2007 at 8:59 amNow that’s what I all target practice. GREAT!
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:03 amDamn, they didn’t hear the gunship when it started firing. They just kept walking nonchelantly like nothing was going on and then POW….right up their asses. Great shooting. Four less pigs on this planet. More logs for the furnaces of hell.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:11 amAssuming the ammo covers 1700-2000M in 4-5 seconds and the speed of sound is 340m/sec, they won’t hear what hits them.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:14 amNo, they wouldn’t hear the rounds first; the rounds outrun the sound they’re creating. If you notice, they begin to wince at the same time the dog runs, as the rounds hit around their feet. By that time it was too late to run. 20 rounds by two bursts, 40 in all, that was probably about the quickest death they could have hoped for, even if not doing a useful mission at the time. Insha-Allah.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:17 amNote the bullets coming in…those weren’t tracer rounds, that was the heat comin’ off ‘em as they raced to see who could draw first blood…
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:21 amOne Shot:
I thought the speed of sound was 640m/per sec on the ground in still air. That’s what I remember from FM 6-40. It’s the calculation that I used to direct artillery by sound.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:23 amAre these 20 mm exploding rounds? They all seem to drop at the same time, there must have been some concussion I am thinking….
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:25 am340.29 M/S at sea level to be precise
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:27 am@Dan and One-Shot:
The correct answer is…their eardrums were scattered about the dust before the sound reached them.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:38 amNice shooting!!
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:46 amBash thank you for pointing out the dog, I missed it the first time through.
Dan & Oneshot who cares what the speed of sound is, what we really want to know is the speed of the train tking those four assholes to hell!!!
What exactly were they firing and from what craft? It looked like the rounds were arcing and moving slow when they hit, was that just the camera angle?
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:52 amWatching Islamofascist insects eat it just brightened my day.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:58 amWe’ve got wood!!!
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:58 amD_Mac, by best guess is that it was a chain gun on an Apache helicopter. Bullet splash size (and chunks flying) lead me to believe that it wasn’t a 7.62mm. The almost directly rearward footage makes the projectiles appear to be in slow motion as you only see them in the E/W planes.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:15 amAnd Harry Reid and the media say we’re losing!!!! Cheers boys!
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:15 amIt’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
They tazed them, bros.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:28 amWho cares about the speed of sound? I do. I like ballistics.
One shot:
“If we consider the atmosphere on a standard day at sea level static conditions, the speed of sound is about 761 mph, or 1100 feet/second. …”

You are correct sir. The calc that I posted in in mph…yours is in m/s. I did the math. It’s the same.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:52 amHave a beer:
I can only say one thing-good aim
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:00 amGet some! just from the sound of the guns firing it most likely was an Apache Gunship firing its cannon..
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:00 amIf it was an Apache, the rounds were most likely “High Explosive” 30mm rounds, which do frag like a grenade and would have torn those guys apart. I had a chance to chat with an Apache pilot at length about the 30mm chain-gun, and simply said, I wouldn’t want to get caught out in the open with that weapon aimed at me. After watching the video again, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what happened to these guys.
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:05 pmIf you look at the bottom (just right of center)of the TADS, you will see the number of rounds tick off as the weapon is engaged.
“if not me, then who”
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:59 pmWhat a great way to come home, a nice tall glass of cold milk with a nice big heaping plate of victory.
This video makes me want to do a happy dance!

If that does not tell you and your ‘friends’ your on the wrong side of this war…I do not know what will.
Let me once again thank the Lord that I am an American and that I support anyone stepping up to defend and honor our country!
Amen!
Peace!

It took nearly two seconds to fire 20 rounds and nearly 3 seconds for the rounds to cover the distance. That seems like a slow rate of fire for that weapon. Also, the guy second from the left actually looks back as if in reaction to the firing of the weapon. All odd for a 30mm chain gun.
