Members of The Minnesota National Guard’s 1/34 Battalion

Many, many people have reported this story today, including the Drudge Report. What everyone is missing, however, is that these guys are the same ones who created one of the most famous and effective iconic moments in the history of the Iraq war, and certainly in the history of the Iraq pro-victory movement. What the Swiftboaters started, these guys finished - which is to say, annhilating Jon Kerry’s reputation vis a vis the military, as well his Presidential ambitions. And they, in one simple, iconic, photographic moment, exposed the truth of the Left’s attitude toward the U.S. military. It’s an image that lives forever with anyone who has seen it. For that alone, they should get even more than the bonus they already deserve.

Damn the Bean Counters. Give these soldiers justice.

  2. Dan (The Infidel)

Oh, something tells me that this will not stand for long. The reps from MN are totally pissed. The shit is hitting the fan as we speak.

  3. Indy

This won’t stand. They will get their well deserved money.

  4. JJIrons

I’m from Minnesota and I guarantee you Norm (a good guy) and Amy Klobuchar are going to hear from me. This is total crap. I want to know WHo wrote the order at the Pentagon and WHO twisted their ears to do it. I’d love to get to the bottom of this.

  5. Dan (The Infidel)

As an aside, I made a jpg of that pic and put it on my desktop and the desktop in our conference room at work.
I freaking hate the lying, phony Kerry. Love the MN Guard for standing up to his BS. Kerry sure got a cold reception when he came to Iraq. LOL. Just for doing that, these people deserve some fucking slack.

  6. Barbara (Granny Grump)

I bought my son-in-law and my brother the tee shirt…….everybody wants one! I cannot even imagine the feedback this is going to cause.

  7. bombislam.com

What a bunch of bullshit. They need to be paid, immediately.

  8. JPS

This is total BS. We have crossed the line from Democracy and freedom of speech to Stalinism and censorship. Truly frightening. There will be more to come with a vote for Hillary.

  9. Phillip Bowles

This is obviously not right. I am sure Senator Colemnan will exert all the influence he has to make this right. Regardless of political beliefs, we must take care of those who are willing to serve and protect this country. This shall be made right.

  10. Carlos

    Day of Reckoning. Oh Well!!

    Dorian Grey

  11. Camillus

This is the shadow government that resides in Wash DC striking back. Remember, just because you have a Republican President does not mean you have a “Republican” government. Bureaucrats are overwhelmingly Democrat and I am not surprised at all.

This will get fixed, but it takes its place in a long line of “embarrass” GW Bush episodes, all orchestrated by the Democrat Government in Waiting that is in perpetual residence in Wash DC. God’s fumigator could not get rid of them. Camillus

  12. LftBhndAgn

This is just flipping bullshit! These guys better be taken care of ASAP.

  13. Kevin

Geez Jsaon, get a grip and get over this “I hate Bush” hysteria; November is around the corner and the Constitution prohibits a third term. It’s amazing how you’ve allowed your hate to so completely consume your sense of reason; sometimes a bean counter snafu is just a bean counter snafu…. wait ….

OMG! the dog just crapped on the rug … DARN YOU, PRESIDENT BUSH!! :-)

  14. local business advertising

John Kerry’s pompous attitude about his own service and poor qualifications as a leader lost him that election. Not that Bush has much more to stand on, but Troops do not like being talked down to, and that’s what Kerry did in effect.

  15. Terry

The Bush’s are in full control of this. PR to the max supporting the troops, then cut off their money behind
    the scenes.

  16. Matt

I love the irony here. The troops mock Kerry and the left, then get shafted by Bush and the neocons. Bush/Cheney and their Carlyle Group/Halliburton buddies must be laughing all the way to the bank at the working class saps who voted them into office. Unless you’re earning in the top 1%, these Neocons are robbing you blind.

  17. dutchess2

Camillus - you claim the 729 days in the 730 day rule was a democrat ‘trick’?

How do you think they pulled it off… d’ya think Petreas is really a closet Democrat? Who pushed the actual button…

This business of embarrassing GW Bush… were Rove and Rhummy in on it too? They sure did their share, eh?

WOW! Thanks for that…a party THAT powerful is the one I want running things in DC!

    silly

  18. Cameron Reddy

This is my screen saver as well!

They better damn well get their benefits!

  19. Rocketman

What exactly is their gripe? Let’s do the math: Their orders deployed them for 729 days. They were deployed 22 months. 12 months = 365 days (10 months x 31 days) = 675 days. Not even close. Is 1LT Jon Anderson suggesting someone should have falsified these orders for his personal benefit? Ummm, that’s illegal, isn’t it? I know…it’s not about the money - but then what is the principle in dispute?

  20. Sergeant Bilko

Did some Jeanane Garofalo or Bill Maher type approve the order to deny these troops payment? People in this country have gone crazy in their blindess of hate. Whoever did it, it’s an abomination!

  21. Sean

I saw orders cut within a day or even hours of a deployment or temporary assigned duty having a payoff quite often in my 10 years in the military.

This is not something new. This is not a plot by Neocons or a Democratic beauracracy. This made the news, but this is certainly NOT an uncommon occurence.

It’s not right, it never is, but the people behind it are the bean-counters in the military, in my experience. The guys with the shiny seat on their pants are the ones that do this to those of us who go out and take the risks.

Look no further than them. Along with all of the wonderful and brave folks we have in the military, we have our share of jerks just like every walk of life.

    Regards,
    Sean

  22. Brent

I didn’t like Kerry or his remarks, but if you read the article it clearly has nothing to do with that. Their orders were extended to 729 total days - one day short of the 730 needed for the full education benefit. It was obviously planned from the beginning and whoever controls it thought it would slide under the radar. I seriously doubt the person who controls these decisions has any kind of political affiliation, if anything it is probably a senior ranking member in the military itself.

  23. Elwood

    hh

  24. Mark Jeghers

How disgraceful to treat those soldiers that way. Especially when they had the balls to push back against Kerry’s shameful deceit.

  25. Ron Orf

How stupid are you straight, murderous, blood-thirsty, anti-brown people repubs? The benefits were denied by this adninistration. It is the Dems who are fighting for it! Anything that does not benefit the top
5 % of this population is of NO interest to the repubs. I was in Vietnam and I had gay sex with Kerry. Trust me, he’s a “hero”. I hate all of you heterosexual Republicans. All of the draft evading chicken hawks somehow convinced you fools that THEY were the heroes. The MN national guard deserves what they get for supporting this moronic war. Please do not bother to act upset when the elite stick it up your posterior. LMAO.

  26. bill

These soldiers need to respect the us congress and a congress member who served in vietnam. Maybe next time they’ll think before they offer complete disrespect to a fellow veteran, and realize that Kerry went through a hell of a lot worse than our five time draft defering vice president and our coke sniffing, draft dodging president went through.

Where can a purchase a copy of the picture ?
    Someone mentioned a T shirt ? Where can I
    buy one.
I’m sure this will be resolved, hope it hits the
    talk show guys this week.

  29. Paul Ochoa

Out of everybody (so far) that has posted a comment, Jason and Beatrix Kiddo are the only blithering braincramps of the bunch! Guys, use some of the old grey matter between the ears or at least use someone else’s before you launch yourself waist deep into another embarrassing stench. Man, you’re stupid! If you know as much as you think you know, then I shouldn’t have to tell you that so many U.S. govt employees throughout the country have been in their jobs for years and it has all become routine for many of the doctors and other administrators let things slip between the cracks including the quality of care for our soldiers and marines just because it’s a govt job and there’s a lot of job security in Govt positions. Granted, you could blame Bush for the quality of care or lack thereof, but you also have to blame so many Presidents before him as well. It just so happens attention was called to it during his term. Yes, another calculating political move by the left to make Bush look bad.

And Beatrix, Ketchup Boy Kerry shot HIMSELF in the foot with all of the stupid antics and verbage he himself created. I used to think politicians thought things out before they got up in front of a crowd to speak til Kerry cama along and kicked his own butt. And his Bitchy wife sure didn’t help either. Which brings me to Edwards. How can anyone vote for a guy whose wife is such a nag. I won’t even get started on the Clinton Crime family and how many people have suddenly died to allow them to reach the heights they’ve reached. See, all of this crap is only seen on the left. Reach out and get a grip on reality. Open your eyes and start witnessing what’s really happening.

  30. Hoosier Red

Rocketman - are you a moron? Do you think a 22 month deployment happens by someone leaving their house one morning, hopping on a plane, and returning home 22 months later? There is a lot of training that happens before and required demobilization after. I’m actually surprised that they could have gotten everything done under a 2 year (730 days) period if they were deployed for 22 months. Hopefully Rocketman is just woefully unaware of how the military works rather than being a bloomin’ idiot.

  31. Mike

Sean hit it the nail on the head. This has been military SOP for years and years.

Everyone blaming “libs”, “neo-cons”, “Bush”, “the Left”, “the right” etc are all partisan fools. Please shut your mouths for a few minutes, the rest of us are sick of hearing you loudmouths.

  32. Roy

Vietnam War Veterans and Vietnam Era Veterans were promised Life Time Medical Benefits, but after we got out and after the war ended those benefits are now contingent upon how much money we earn and or our total monetary worth. That wasn’t the agreement we signed up under.

I have a friend who served in the Marines from 1969 to 1971 who needs a double hernia surgery, but the Veterans Hospital in Fresno Calif., told him he didn’t qualify because he is buying two separate homes. Just the same, he lives from month to month.

So, if you go on and make something of yourself, the Government takes away your benefits.

But if you end up being a street person, or ex-con, they give you all the help and or surgeries needed.

  33. Hoosier Red

Yep, Sean got it right. As for the doctor thing mentioned by Paul Ochoa - can’t speak for all of them, but this doctor is out there serving with the troops. One of my colleagues survived a helicoptor crash in which 2 crewmembers died so it’s not all cushy for all the doctors.

  34. Dilbert

Soldiers that fought willingly in this war are war criminals and should be shot in front of a firing squad for treason against america, war crimes against humanity- and also to clean up the gene pool and have a few less imbeciles that don’t know what the hell their government is up to, and worse- are willing to help them do it against everything that is right and good in this world.
Fuck all soldiers in Iraq- they must refuse to fight or be put to death for not being truly brave. They are not defending freedom, they are helping a hitler solidify his iron grip on america. To hell with any of them that willingly served in this war.

  35. John S.

Does anyone besides me wonder about the rage, loathing, hatred, and foul mouthed rantings of those folks on the left. Since their minds are already made up on any thing having to do with the current administration and conseratives in general they certainly don’t want to be bothered with provable facts. Are these the same people who cut you off and flip you off on the road then stare straight ahead and don’t see you when you are sitting side beside at the next stop light? It seems (and I hope for our safety) that they are just all mouth and no ass; (or have any ideas, imagination, or occasionally, a sense of humor.)

  36. Greg M

These men and women deserve their damn money give it to them no questions asked they have done enough for this country don’t treat them like they are the people that did the injustice. God people can make me pissed.

  37. Uncle Sam

Every soldier in this war has been betrayed by the liberals in this country, who have done nothing but tell the enemy to keep fighting.

  38. wildbill69

Now how can they afford too pay for these guys for their service, we have a lot of Mexicans to provide FREE health care and FREE education for their kids.
Don’t remember all those divisions of MEXICAN NATIONAL TROOPS that Fox and Caldron sent over to give our guys a little R&R.
If they don’t approve money for these brave men and women, we should replace all 535 and one president. COME TO THINK OF IT, THAT’S A GOOD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. Bruce

    Calm down Jason.
A couple of things. First, while the president is the C&C, he hardly is personally involved in how individual orders are written. That comes from military policy. Our unit got activated for 179 days for Afghanistan because at 180 it would have cost more money or some such thing in the form of benefits. It bites, for sure, but that’s policy. This unit will surely see their orders cut for the extra day, if for no other reason than public relations, but probably because it’s the right thing to do. Since it’s a Guard unit, the governor will be personally involved in seeing things set right.
As far as Kerry is concerned, even if you totally disregard everything the swift boat people said about him, he still did and said a lot of things that really upset a lot of people when he returned from Vietnam. Too many to list here…
As far as Bush’s military record goes, he was in the Guard. Guard units don’t get to decide that they want to deploy or not. You’re either sent or you aren’t. He flew fighters, which means he had a clue and eye/hand coordination, but obviously that wasn’t the love of his life or he’d be flying for some airline right now. It’s certainly debatable (in a calm and relaxed way) whether the country would be better off right now if he was.
You surely realize the amount of money spent on the Iraq war really doesn’t have anything to do with the amount of money available to build a bridge 30 or 40 years ago…
190 billion dollars for Iraq is a lot of money, but if, as it looks like we’re doing, we transform the middle east away from the bin laden infested swamp it became and into a place where people might manage to have actual freedom, it will ultimately be well worth it. For the US and the world. Especially if we don’t have to go back in in 10 or 15 years, except this time facing nukes from Iran.

  40. danielle

Good Lord, I hope they don’t blame GWB for this. It’s not his fault, and I can’t believe there are anti-military comments here. Gosh!

  41. Ranger

    So fucked. So typical.

  42. Dannyboy

Anyone who’d venture in here to rant against Bush and the GOP because of this story is just an idiot. Plain and simple. Just keep your wacky conspiracy theories to yourself and go on back to whatever it is you do–posting on youtube, or whatever.

  43. EdinTampa

Relax folks. This didn’t happen because of their sign & famous photo (which I too have framed). And this didn’t happen because the Bush Administration is trying to screw them over, if anything, this will be corrected by the President.

    Let’s get it done!

  44. mindy abraham

To dilbert-up yours. Regarding the actual topic of the thread, I do not know who to blame, but I hope they get what they deserve. Where do you get a shirt with them on it? I also have it as wallpaper for my computer.

  45. tony starks

wow the level of hate and stupidity in these comments… read a book people.

  46. Tom

I’ve just written the following letter to both my US Senators. Feel free to modify it for your own usage when writing to your Senators about this.

    Sen. Senator’s Name,

It has just come to my attention that members of the Minnesota National Guard’s 1/34 battalion have been denied GI Bill benefits after serving a 22 month deployment in Iraq - the longest single continuous combat deployment of any combat unit to date.

I realize this isn’t a Texas issue, but as a veteran myself I consider it a Veteran’s issue. I encourage you to work with Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Norm Coleman to correct this injustice. For our young men and women to risk their lives daily for us and have their most basic veteran’s benefits denied them upon returning home is a gross injustice.

    Thank you,
    Your Name Here

  47. Q_Mech

Well now, it seems that daily Kos or some other lefty hate site must have linked to this post. They clearly brought over their best and brightest, as well.

Can anyone come up with a workable plan for the military to defend everyone BUT these guys? Perhaps we could ship them to Waziristan on an “International Peace Expedition”. The beheading videos will be hilarious, and we’ll clean out the gene pool at the same time!

  48. Barry Pendley

Perfect! They need to create another banner which says:
“Carry, don’t let dems taser our benefitz bro!”

Keep the Democrat Party’s insanity alive!

  49. Q_Mech

No, seriously, kiddies. Stay for a while. Read a few articles. If you gomers can ever mature enough to see past your blind, dehumanizing hate then maybe you’ll learn something.

    (not holdin’ my breath)

  50. Ron Fella

Maybe John Kerry will give them the benifits they seek. He sure is rich enough to aford to!

  51. dems are fools

Well everyone is wrong here. Of course the liberal posters are more wrong. Let’s use a little common sense instead of emotion here. First of all, when congress writes a bill, they have to put in NUMBERS. A bill can’t read, “after a whole bunch of days the national guard guys get these benefits.” Now if you are in the national guard, don’t you think it would be smart to know when certain benefits kick in? These aren’t children. These are adults who have to take care of themselves.

One other gripe I have. Once again people are turning to the government to fix the unfairnesses of life. Yes I want those men to have their benefits. They deserve them. But this is what the democrat/communist party is all about. Some democrat/communist politician taking money from one person and giving it to another to another to cure life’s inequities.

  52. Mike in CA

What a difference a day makes. The department of the army needs to do the right thing. 729 makes no sense unless the person issuing the order knew denial of benefits was the ultimate blow.
Their respective schools should waive tuition on the principle of the matter.

  53. Jim

All kinds of unrelated bs posts here

  54. Dan (The Infidel)

Who let all the libistan surrender monkek fuckers in here?

Not a one of you brain-dead libs has a point…not fucking one. Go on back to your basements and your porno channels.

The only reason the MN Guard is having this problem is because the damn bean counters that sit on their cans in the Pentagon, are the ones who made this decision.

Be advised, that this decision isn’t going to stand. The representatives in their state are already working on this issue. And the head of the Guard Bureau Gen. Blum is a tireless advocate for the Guard. He’ll raise the necessary hell, and this issue will get resolved.

So straighten up your tinfoil hats libtards. The mothership will land any minute and you can all go home.

And if that don’t work? Then why don’t you libs do like your buddy Judas did and go thou and do likewise.
You’ll have to contact the DailKos or CodeFink to get your share of the thirty pieces of silver.

  55. Professor Bill

I sure am seeing a lot of jibberish posters on this thread. I think the Kos special ed kids are playing games and fouling Pat’s site. Do me and the other people on here a favor, go grab a latte and rant and rave with your spoiled friends somewhere else.

Hey Roy, I live in near Fresno to.

  56. brian

    Pay these men and women.

  57. rockinrobin

    To all the Dilbert’s of the world . . . I have a very grand idea . . .

    1. Post your address here (dare ya)
    2. Troops get to see it (laughing histerically)
    3. You receive a knock on your door (more laughter)
    4. You are put out of your misery and ours  (hoo ya)
    5. Gene pool problem solved (woo hoo)! Go, soldiers, go soldiers (as laughter, music and high fives are given)

Go crawl back in that hole you came out of you coward.

  58. Hoosier Red

Dilbert…..wow. Just wow. Please post a link demonstrating where you are advocating this approach publicly. You have such a passion on this point I’m sure you wouldn’t hide behind the anonymity of the internet like a coward.

  59. drillanwr

    @bill

    —————————————————

You know what, bill (if that is your REAL name  ), that’s a two way street. John Kerry spent a hell of a lot less time in Vietnam than these troops did in Iraq, so fuck off.

John Kerry returned to the States and jumped right in making horrificly false claims publicly and in front of said Congress about troops still fighting and dying in Vietnam, so fuck off.

John Kerry cannot speak about today’s troops fighting in Iraq without his disdain for the military and this country seeping through, so fuck off!

I’ll bet you would be the first to pump your slimy fist in a cheer if any of these troops had held up an anti-Bush or anti-Cheney sign, so fuck the hell off.

I don’t care what these troops political leanings are. If they have something coming to them they had better damn well be getting it. The civilians in this country will NOT sit quietly by and watch our returning men and women get jipped … NOT THIS TIME!

  60. Steve in NC

    hey Dilbert -

My name is Steven Mann I live in Matthews NC.

What is your real name and where do you live?

Do you have the stones and bravery to defend your words?

    We should meet.

  61. Josiah

OK, just to set the record straight on a few things: Rocketman - Guard units are typically mobilized for six months of training prior to deployment. The moment the unit is activated for federal service, the clock starts. By adding the six month train-up (typically at Ft. Bliss, TX, Ft. Benning, GA, or Ft. Riley, KS, followed by time in Kuwait for live fire training) to your math, you come out at 855 days. LT Anderson probably assumed that was general knowledge, he wasn’t asking for a favor.

Orders are cut based on the duration the mission is expected to last. I am sure someone in the Army Adjutant General corps does the actuarial math to figure out what is financially the most prudent way to do things. While I certainly do not agree that the MN Guard should be penalized by the bean counters, this is not something that anyone imposed on them in retaliation for the sign incident.

Bill - an active duty unit probably wouldn’t have done the sign thing, which is one of the reasons I love the Guard. I am an active duty officer, been there, done that, but the sight of the Guard guys going out every day and doing their thing with a slightly different approach makes me appreciate their unique style of service. As for respect to our elected officials, yeah, we should respect them, but most of us reserve our respect for the office, not the individual, and when the individual exercises his first amendment rights in a manner that denigrates the service of our men and women, he should expect that they will exercise their first amendment rights.

Speaking of First Amendment rights - Dilbert: I (and those like me) who serve in the military defend to the death your right to spew such infantile garbage- in a way, it is gratifying to see you use the rights that we have guaranteed you. You are welcome.

  62. drillanwr

    @Josiah -

    *SALUTE*

Well done, Sir … VERY well done!

  63. Dan (The Infidel)

    Steve in NC:

C’mon dude, you know these DailyKos fucktards haven’t the guts to come out from behind their mommy’s skirts. Besides not having an intelligent thought in their brain-dead little minds, they have no guts.

  64. Lamplighter

I’ve heard of this sleazy tactic being used more than once by people in this Admin., and it’s a bit troubling. For instance, I heard that Congress authorized and funded a benefit for slain firefighters, but the Justice Dept. under Gonzalez has stalled any payments thereunder. We are talking about thousands of dollars, not millions. It’s petty. These guys deserve their benefits and the person holding them up needs to go to hell.

  65. Lamplighter

rokinrobin: right on. dilbert: go join the guy who held up benefits–you America-hating don’t know crap about anything piece of human debris. barry pendley: very funny. steveinnc: i want to watch.

  66. Tom

A lot of metrosexual liberals popping up around here! Look guys, I am sorry you got beat up at school when you were kids. I understand you have been damaged psychologically by this.

But conservatives didn’t do this to you!

Go back to Feng Shui, find your inner child, heal, heal, heal, drive your Prius, meditate with Richard Gere, groom your flower beds, watch Will and Grace, cry, cry, cry, read Chomsky, get angry, empower yourself!, punch a pillow, and then write some poetry about how much you care, care, care about oppressed people who you saw on tv.

Learn to heal gentle ones! Arrianna Huffington will hold you and nurture you. (Then fly off on her private jet.)

You are all so sweet and delicate. Like flowers in the wind. I know you have those scars…oh monstrous testosterone!

But breathe into your center and know that you should.

    Go Fuck Yourselves.

  67. Dan (The Infidel)

    Tom:

You gotta love the “Paladin Heresy” of the left. They are so caught up in their nihilist thinking that there is no longer any room in their small brains for a normal synapse to occur.

    Well said.

  68. steve

For a Guard unit, MOBILIZATION starts the day you go on orders, DEPLOYMENT starts the day you arrive “in country”. My unit (Georgia’s 48th Infantry Bde) was replaced in Iraq by the MN Guard; my total mobilization deployment time was 18 months( 6 months mob 12 months in Iraq). The MN Guard trainup period (the begining of mobilization) lasted 6-7 months; their deployment lasted 15 months.

Orders are cut to cover an estimated total period of mobilization days plus deployment days. The first period of mobilization time is usually part State duty and part Federal duty. Orders for myself and most of my men indicated for a “period of time not to exceed 605 days”. As the math indicates for the MN guys (and gals) 729 days is 24 months any way you add it up (even with liberal math).

Why was 729 days put on their orders? Why was 605 days put on mine? What is magical about either one? It’s all accounting. My understanding is it’s the relationship between the state and federal govt’s and the financial aspect of State property (in this case the Guard) becoming Federal property.

At the time the MN Guard was mobilized (October-ish 2005), the were no plans to have them involved in “The Surge”; in fact, the surge wasnt even planned. Their total mobilization/deployment time was estimated from the beginning to be a total of 18 months, well short of the 2 year requirement for total education benefits.

As for you, Dilbert…I pity you. My 7 year old son has more common sense and bigger balls than the likes of you and your militant anti-military friends. You want to line me up against a wall? Want to “f@ck me” bacause I proudly serve my country? Ya’ll come on down to Georgia and give it a try…I’ll let my kids kick your ass.

Make sure they use a cup(s), steve …

  70. Hoosier Red

Steve, I’m sure your 7 year old son won’t need any help, but any chance my 9 year old daughter can have first shot?

  71. J_dub

I’ve heard of this before. In ‘03 I was a Seabee attached to the 1st MEF in Kuwait. Having already been deployed and in Kuwiat since ‘02, our Battalion ended up getting extended as well. We even had cute little posters with Uncle Sam pointing his finger at you with the caption “You’ve been extended motherfucker! Have a fine Navy day.” As the invasion kicked off, we were to build bridges for the advance because the military figured Iraqi engineers would blow the current ones. In the very middle of this as OIF was still going on, somebody found out that if we were there for much longer we would be entitled to a shitload more money for being deployed to long. Sure enough, a few days later we were back in Kuwait on a charter plane back to Cali. This is just the military trying to save a buck. If the military says they don’t get it, they don’t get it.

  72. Steve

No problem Hoosier, glad to let her have a turn at that idiot…of course, that means my daughter will want a piece of the action when she sees your daughter kickin’ some butt!

Normally I’m a “lurker” on sites like this, just kinda sit back and read the posts, occasionally add my 2 cents. Some of the comments from misguided souls like dilbert are truly amazing. Hypocritical at best, tilting toward the moronic. Dilbert says:…”against everything that is right and good in this world”…Dude, you need to turn off the kiddie porn and take a look around at the real world. Do you really think Saddam’s treatment of Iraq’s citizens was right and good? Really??? The thousands that were executed, tortured, gassed, raped, murdered, etc. would beg to differ with you…if they were only alive to do so.

As far as knowing “what the hell their government is up to”, maybe I dont know. Maybe I dont need to, or even want to know all the time. But I do know this…the world is rid of a brutalizing tyrant, and the fires of hell are burning a little hotter now because of it.

Since I’m on a roll, let me pontificate a little further…the war we started in 2003 is not the war we are in now. Say what you want, but Saddam could have averted the whole thing by coming clean with WMD inspections. Did he have WMD prior to our (first)invasion? You betcha. Ask Iran, ask the Kurds. Did he still have WMD, and did he continue to pursue the development of WMD, after the first Gulf War? Probably so. Artillery rounds with chemical munitions are occasionaly (and probably unknowingly)used in IED’s. Been there, seen it first hand. Does that indicate a large scale development program for WMD? No…but it IS proof that all of it wasnt destroyed as required by the U.N. after the first Gulf War. That war was finished long ago…

The war we are in now is a fight against evil, pure and simple. It’s a fight not only for freedom and the spread of democracy, it’s turning into a fight for our very way of life. The Islamo-fascists we are facing have one goal…convert us to Islam, or kill us all, and the Iraq theater of operations has turned into the front line in this fight.

Dilbert, I suggest you turn off CNN, stop talking to your code pink friends, and take a sightseeing trip to the middle east. I’m sure you could get a friendly military escort from some of the 150,000 troops in Iraq, especially since you’re ready to have sex with all of them (”F#ck all soldiers in Iraq” you said). Bet your @sshole will be really sore after that…

Stepping down from my soapbox now…

  73. The Word-Drum

I second Camillus (9:21 PM) and think about it alot. Also in the schools, there are too many Libral activist at work.

I believe democracy shall work for these good men.

(and if you need it…more Kerry bashing at The Word-Drum.)

  74. Grumpy

 Sean is most likely right. Kerry is a turd but I doubt that he had anything to do with this. Nor did Bush or anyone any that level. This is a GUARD unit that we are talking about. They are at the state level and then the Fed level when they deploy. Things like this happen all the time.

Im not saying that its right-i think its lame and these guys should get what ever that would have got if their orders were for one day longer-but i doubt the conspiracy.

  75. Hoosier Red

    Steve,
You know what’s so frustrating? I believe what you’ve said is a very close approximation to the truth…..those are almost exactly my sentiments. However, the current president seems to be incapable of articulating this argument.

  76. Future0311 (the infidel)

Dilbert: “Soldiers that fought willingly in this war are war criminals and should be shot in front of a firing squad for treason against america, war crimes against humanity- and also to clean up the gene pool and have a few less imbeciles that don’t know what the hell their government is up to, and worse- are willing to help them do it against everything that is right and good in this world.
Fuck all soldiers in Iraq- they must refuse to fight or be put to death for not being truly brave. They are not defending freedom, they are helping a hitler solidify his iron grip on america. To hell with any of them that willingly served in this war.”

On behalf of all servicemen, past, present, and future: Go fuck a camel, you disgusting piece of liberal worm-infested shit. You aren’t worthy to shine their boots.

  77. TJ (the kafir)

Dilbert is a leech from media matters and moveon.org if you click on his name it goes to rush limbaugh.com, insinuating that rush is anti military because of the phony soldiers scam that media matters has persued.

hey dilbert , we know who you are and understand when the shit hits the fan we will be targeting libtard traitors like you for execution. For those of us not in the military, this is our patriotic duty , to rid nation of islamic and commy sympathizers like you.

  78. Mark While

Just one day short? Make no mistake, the Army will make
it’s own AIT schools a day short of some regulation not to have to pay for family housing etc. My favorite was moving the gate at the NTC closer town so they wouldn’t have to pay the extra money to all the permanent party guys that drove 50 miles one way to work every day. Someting is rotten, and it sounds like some pencil pilot got a damn AR for saving money. Give these guy’s their money now !

  79. Howie

Steve don’t hold your breath waiting for Dilbert, he doesn’t have the balls to respond to an actual person and he loves to hide behind the internet.

  80. Ima Man

jason - grow up. clean up your language. engage in discourse like an adult not a middle schooler.

  81. Lamplighter

Just want to amend the record. This weekend Pres. Bush gave a speech at a firefighter monument dedication in Maryland and met with widows/orphans said he’s going to pay out those firefighter benefits… Maybe the Guard benefits will be rectified also.

Respond now.
