Barbara Boxer Blames War In Iraq For Cali Fires, Reid Blames Global Warming
Just when you thought these people couldn’t possibly reach down deep to reveal even more stupidity…
Say what you will about Democrats, if significant human misery and loss of property is involved, they will always seek to score cheap political points by blaming the Bush administration. Rather than coming together as Americans to help other Americans during times of crisis, the first reaction of Democrats is to vent their hatred of George W. Bush.
Consider the following comments concerning the California wildfires: Senate Majority leader Harry Reid said, “One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming.” Reid made this unbelievable statement to reporters while stressing the need to pass the Democrats’ comprehensive energy package. Looks like Reid has discovered a new tragedy directly traceable to global warming–terminal stupidity in Democrats!
Not to be out done when it comes to exploiting human misery for political gain, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) stated that, because of the war in Iraq, the California National Guard is experiencing a 50 percent equipment shortage, which is hampering the fire fighting effort.
This addled senator never misses a chance to chide Bush for fighting the war on terror in Iraq, rather than in downtown San Francisco. But the award for mindless partisan skullduggery goes to California Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi, a Democrat. During an interview with Chris Matthews, Garamendi added much needed intelligence to the discussion when he:
-Demanded that the California National Guard be re-deployed from Iraq to help fight the fires;
-Opined that President Bush’s visit to California will be nothing but a public relations gesture and, in fact, a “distraction;”
-Reminded the world that the Bush administration stumbled miserably in helping Katrina victims in New Orleans, and encouraged Bush to be more helpful to suffering Californians.
By slamming Bush on both Iraq and Katrina, John Garamendi served notice that he is a Democrat to be reckoned with when it comes to reckless and irresponsible political posturing during a natural disaster.
So far, no leading Democrat has accused President Bush of actually starting the California wildfires. But they are no doubt working on that very angle, 24/7.
Meanwhile, California continues to burn.

But Boxer’s accusation goes to the true depths of stupidity. Lack of personnel and equipment is not the problem. No force on earth can stop a raging wildfire that is fueled by 100mph wind gusts. What she should be doing is calling for more support from other states and other parts of california to help out any way they can and to continue urging people to move away from the fires. But no, it seems like every problem in the world has to be Bush’s fault just because it’s easy to point faults to someone else.

However, I want to reveal two things that did shock me: 1.) my insurance company called unsolicited and left a message to the effect that if I need any help, call them and 2.) my city left a packet of info re: insurance co phone #s, FEMA claim info, Cal. Dept. of Insur. claim info, etc. on my door with a letter and phone # of Gov. Arnold that said to call his office if I have any questions or need anything. So, I am shocked at the response. I don’t really expect this kind of stuff, but for people who do, “wow.” New Orleans, LA: are you taking notes?

The only thing so far hampering the fire fighting has been the CalFire bureacrats who seem to be more concerned with personal fiefdoms than stoppng the fire. For the second time in 4 years, the military was stopped from helping fight from the air. These two traitors should call Hunter, Issa and Bilbray and ask them whta happened. They called bullshit on CalFire yesterday and the helicopters should help tomorrow. Where were these two bloodsucking parasites? Global warming only occurs in Southern California? The environmental, notice the word mental is in the word, has managed to have legislation passed that makes it dam near impossible to clean the forest floors and do controlled burnings. There’s thirty years of “tree droppings” carpeting the forest floors thereby making it much easier for lightening to start fires because there’s so much kindling on the ground. The President had legislation passed in ‘03 to clean up the forest floors and the greenpeace nutjobs have had the law held up in the courts. And the forests burn down.

Look at the areas that survived the fire and those that didn’t. The ones that did defied the Enviro-Nazi movement and cleared brush and dead trees away from dwellings. Those that were prevented from doing this were hamstrung by the same wacko groups.
This was a big issue over the fires around Reno in the past. As urban sprawl continues without forestry management this is what you get, we know it, the Bureau of Land Management knows it, the US Forestry Department, and Al-Qaeda does too.
Why do you think the FBI has stepped in? I wonder why they haven’t released the identity of the firebug they caught behind Cal State San Bernardino that rammed his car into a police squad car when trying to flee?

You may have fires in France but because you manage them the fires aren’t as devastating, firebreaks, cleaning up the forest floor. You can’t eliminate forest fires but you can with proper management minimize the damage. Europeans have been managing their forests for five hundred years. Like the Dutch know about levees we could take a cue from Europe on land management. But, then that’s kind of dumb for me to say that, it’s not that we don’t know how, we have idiots that have managed to get in the way of reason.

October 25th, 2007 at 3:39 pmI can speak to this issue directly, as my family was evacuated at 0430, last Mon. We reside in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego, or the Witch fire area. I can speak for the general feeling of the entire community when I say that we are proud of all the fire/police and NG troops who performed to the highest standards. They were organized and managed the disaster professionally. They made tough decisions and saved the community under extreme wind conditions which grounded many, if not all, aircraft during a critical time. Having more aircraft would have been useless. Further, to argue that we had insufficient resources is simply assinine. The scale/magnitude of this series of fires would require huge assets to sit idle, and be a total waste of money. Do not believe any bullshit about this from the left, I was/am there and can tell you first hand that a great job was done by all. Finally, the community really came together to help each other from the outset. I want to personnaly thank all those responders who worked so hard to protect our community…thank you.

If one examines the facts of this series of fires, say by aerial photography, you can easily see that the fires burned throughout the UNDEVELOPED areas, almost to the exclusion of housing developments! Yes, some homes and outbuildings burned, and there was much damage and destruction, but overall, it was the housing developments and cities that PREVENTED the fires from spreading further. This is simply a fact, albeit one which will be ignored by the MSM, and liberal hacks, from this country and others.
