So, we have scientists acting like idiots because they replaced "science" with common sense, where a five to ten second line of logical thought could have yielded the same damn answer.

The only thing "interesting" about this info is how inhumane some "humans" are. Is this the result of genes, culture or learning? Who knows? Maybe someone should try an "experiment" on scientists who do these things to find out!

o.O Poor elephant, died just so some dumbass scientist could test what would happen if it took lsd =[
Gah scientists annoy me tbh. They should just leave it to their imagination and not do tests that could cause harm to others, including animals which wouldnt have any say in the matter.

You might also be intrigued by Opening Skinner's Box by Lauren Slater who revisits 10 of the earliest influential-and controversial experiments into the mind's inner workings.
e.g. Stanley Milgram's "electric shock" obedience studies and Harry Harlow's "wire monkey" attachment researches.

The brilliant chapter on David Rosenhan's experiment, in which volunteers presented vague symptoms at psychiatric facilities and were immediately admitted, proving that the diagnosis of "mental illness" is a largely contextual affair, is the most flamboyant and revealing example of Slater's method - she reproduces the experiment personally and, after an average office visit of less than a quarter-hour at a variety of psychiatric institutions -is prescribed a variety of drugs. In the original experiment people were locked up, so, although there has been some change in clinical methodology, Slater's experiment confirms Rosenhan's thesis.

You can find reviews here:
