80 Percent Of Americans Say Iran’s Nuclear Program Is For Military Purposes
Y-Net:
About 80 percent of Americans believe Iran’s contested nuclear program is aimed at producing nuclear weapons while only six percent are of the opinion that the program is peaceful, a poll conducted by FOXNews showed.
The poll found that 51 percent of respondents believe the US should take a tougher approach in dealing with Tehran, including military action against the Iranian regime.
Only 31 percent said the United States should intensify its diplomatic effort to halt Iran’s nuclear activities.
Should diplomacy fail to convince Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions before President George W. Bush leaves office, 54 percent of the respondents said they would rather he leave the issue for his successor. About 29 percent said they would rather have Bush take military action against Iran before his term ends.
“All the controversy over the Iranian president’s visit to New York this past week may have somewhat inflated feelings about Iran,” Opinion Dynamics CEO John Gorman told FOX. “While it is clear that Americans view Iran as a potential threat, and a possible military target, they don’t want President Bush rushing into Iran if his term is ending.”
Over half of Americans (54 percent) said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s request to visit ground zero during a visit to New York last week would have been to honor the terrorists responsible for the World Trade Center attack. About 17 percent believe he wanted to honor the victims who died there, and 29 percent were unable to give an opinion, FOX reported.
It all started in ‘79…maybe, finally, soon we will take these dogshits at there word about how they fell about us and do something to put and end to them. Enough is enough.
October 4th, 2007 at 7:13 amNow that 80% of Americans are on the same page on this issue, what do they want to do about it? Do 80% have the balls to act or are 80% of them sold on more useless UN-sanctions or would they just rather watch their MTV and fahghetaboutit?
October 4th, 2007 at 7:15 amThe numbers reported here are encouraging (and surprising) to me. I would be in that 29% that favor W to git’er done. We don’t know what we will have for a CIC in ‘09.
October 4th, 2007 at 7:37 am@ steve m, yes the current push became evident in 1979.
The muslim hordes have been at it forever, Thermopylae anyone?
The current problem is the ability of cave dwelling savages getting their hands on technology to develop weapons far more dangerous than ballistics and swords.
October 4th, 2007 at 7:42 amSeriously, if we wait on the next elected President and by chance it is Clinton, she does not have the balls to do anything about it. We would have to wait for the iranians to actually kill millions of us b4 she would think about acting. Obama Barac bin Laden the same thing.
Now swinging to the right, Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney would put those suns of a bitches in their place……
Guess you figured it out, I’m Republican!
October 4th, 2007 at 7:50 amLetting any Muslim country have the bomb is like letting a 4 year old run around with a suicide vest or a loaded and cocked pistol. Muslims have a habit of letting the voices in their heads dictate matters of life and death.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:56 amIn other news, 20% of Americans don’t know to stop pushing when the Q-tip hurts.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:02 amWhen will the ‘duh’ moment hit in the sweet, tolerant heads of liberal voters, not the hardcore commies, but the poor fool mass idiots that really believe that love is all you need morons?
A mushroom cloud over NY? ‘Huh, why would they hit us sweet Libs is NY? We invited A-jad and hate Bush? Why wouldn’t they love us? We’re not Imperialist, Nationalists like beer drinking, brat producing, red-staters, we’re wine drinking, drug snorting, super homo’s. We should be on the same side. I just don’t get it…’
Duh.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:06 amTo all of those idiots that think we should wait and continue with useless negotiating through the UN (as the U.S. & Europe have been doing over the last 4 years), pay attention;
1) For the last 4 years Iran has lied and delayed several times over to the UN about its nuclear program in order to continue with its development. IE…They can’t be trusted.
2) Russia and China hold veto power at the UN. Both Russia and China have strong economic ties with Iran which they are not willing to compromise and…
3) Russia and China have Global Domination desires be it economic, military, etc. Both nations have (on a number of occasions) taken action to compromise the United States in order to further their own nation. Examples are; supporting weapons to Iran, Providing Nuclear tech to Iran, China is suspect of providing military arms to AQ in Iraq through a 3rd party, the list goes on and…
4) Both China and Russia have a history of taking action at the UN in favor of Iran when it is specifically against western interest thereby farthing Iranian nuclear weapons development.
Despite the limited sanctions, rhetoric, etc against Iran coming out of the U.N., the solution to Iranian nuclear weapons development cannot come from the U.N. as long as the self serving nations of China and Russia hold veto power are at the U.N.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:18 amto clarify on #3 above - Russia and China desire to see the U.S stalled in Iraq and other areas of the world. The longer we stay at war in Iraq, the greater a drain on the war will be on the U.S. economy.
R & C take such actions to bring the U.S. down. Their thinking being as we become weaker, their nation becomes stronger.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:22 am“And 29% were unable to give an opinion.”
Ah yes. That bleating 1/3 of America.
October 4th, 2007 at 3:15 pmOver half of Americans (54 percent) said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s request to visit ground zero during a visit to New York last week would have been to honor the terrorists responsible for the World Trade Center attack.
GOD BLESS THAT 54% WHO ACTUALLY GET IT.
About 17 percent believe he wanted to honor the victims who died there,
WE NEED A LIST OF THE 17% THAT WOULD ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS SHIT. {I am sure they are on the persons of interest watch list.}
and 29 percent were unable to give an opinion, FOX reported.
THE 29% WTF???
The poll found that 51 percent of respondents believe the US should take a tougher approach in dealing with Tehran, including military action against the Iranian regime.
THAT 51% IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO GROW. I am hopeful that most people with any grip on reality will see the need for action. We cannot afford to just wait.
